First, the good:
- The property has its own small private beach (somewhat shared with neighboring resort) and is also close to Kim Sha Beach.
- The property is a walkable distance to the shops and restaurants in town, albeit with a significant change in elevation.
- There is a small grocery store on site with fairly reasonable prices.
- Reception staff was friendly and helpful.
- Room was clean and functional.
- Bay front rooms have a beautiful view of the water and the moored ships.
- The on-site covid testing was convenient, if not cheap or efficient.
- Fairly close to airport.

The bad:
- We had some booking issues, and the receptionists were incapable of addressing. Management was not on site, and could only be reached on a difficult-to-hear phone line. Management was inflexible and unaccommodating. Several people in line before us had similar issues. Ultimately they charged us more than advertised prices for making changes, something we've never encountered before.
- Property is in need of maintenance. Lots of potholes. Vehicles are falling apart. Buildings destroyed (by Hurricane Irma?) still not repaired.
- Can hear planes landing and taking off.
- Only one location to get and return beach towels - sort of ridiculous for a large sprawling resort, particularly since it's located in the middle of the mountain.
- There is a significant difference among the type of rooms available, and the booking sites do not describe well, and can be misleading. For example, while "ocean view" can technically be true, those rooms may be located fairly high up on a mountain slope, requiring a very steep 10 minute walk to get to the water. Be careful which rooms you book. There is some variability, but generally, I think the "B" buildings are on the mountain slope, the villas face the bay, the "M" are near the marina (some facing the bay), and the "F" face the small beach - but please confirm for yourself, especially if you care about the view and accessibility to the water or beach. I would highly recommend looking at the map of the resort and visually confirming the room that you are booking to avoid disappointment.
- Don't expect the non-reception staff around the property to be friendly or to return smiles.
- If you are in a room facing the bay, very loud music from Kim Sha Beach can be heard until 2-3AM, and actually, the bass could be felt in our room. Based on prior reviews, this problem seems to have existed for many years.

Overall, this property worked for us as a launching point for our daily day-trips around the island, and was convenient to groceries. On the other hand, the issues with management, booking the rooms, and the late-night music negatively affected our stay.

Room tip: Make sure to visually confirm the room with the resort map to avoid disappointment.

We extended our trip and did a last minute booking here based on a jeweler on front streets recommendation. The service was excellent!! Smiles all around, the place is gigantic with multiple pools, beach access and all!! The room had a full kitchen and a grocery store on the property! 5 restaurants to choose from. Sushi from the sports was was delicious (surprising, I know.). Will definitely be back to this place. A fraction of the cost of most places around!!

The service from the front desk (Kelma) to Housekeeping, to Poolbar (Laura) was OUTSTANDING! Ms. Kelma along with her colleagues at the front desk were extremely friendly and welcoming! Laura is the bartender at the Marina Bldg pool bar and she’s a treasure! When we needed assistance from Housekeeping, the staff was willingly helpful! Aside from having a friendly and professional staff, Simpson Bay Resort Is a well kept , clean resort that offers its guest all the amenities of home!we definitely plan to return.

Room tip: Ocean view is fabulous

Just returned from an amazing trip! We loved the hotel!

Took a tour with Harry aka HAPPY HARRY! He Took us all over the island, fed iguanas, saw monkeys, took us to a great place on the french side for lunch (Cynthia’s - locals eat here too, so not a tourist trap- yummy) literally the best tour! Did the 3 hour snorkeling tour (with junior) that left from the hotel and that was also amazing. So we got the see the island from the ground and the water!
Rambo helped us with drinks on the beach! I can brag enough about this place and their staff!
On the resort, Isola was my favorite restaurant (incredible Italian- amazing pizza also!) and then Bovine (steak) was my 2nd! Off the resort, I’d say skipjacks was amazing! We ate lunch on the beach everyday and it was all delicious. The place is sooo clean! If you love kitties, they have a few on the resort that are maintained and looked after by a local vet! Soo cute!
Harry really made our trip though! He helped arrange transportation for us back to the airport on our last day! The shuttle doesn’t take you to the airport but did take us to skipjacks for dinner and that was very convenient! Our driver for that was amazing also but I never got his name. He took us to a few places close for dinners! I can’t say enough about the people and this resort! I want to go back, like tomorrow. I didn’t want to leave! The Dutch side is further along in reconstruction (after Irma) than the French side which I don’t understand, but this resort is a great place to relax, unwind! Truly a great island! The water is beyond gorgeous and no amount of pictures could do it justice!

Room tip: Get a tour with Harry! He works on the resort, give tours on his off time. Takes you places that other tours don’t! Highly recommend!!!!
