Even staying only one night, it was easy to be captured by Sugar Mills charm. If you are looking for a large resort with lots of touristy, ersatz activities, Sugar Mill is not for you. If you are looking for relaxation in quiet, beautiful surroundings while being catered to by an unobtrusive but caring staff, book your vacation here now.

Due to a flight delay, we arrived too late for lunch. Given that we were famished, the staff asked if a "simple" chicken sandwich would suffice to get us through to dinner. What arrived was one of the best sandwiches we'd ever eaten complimented by fresh fruit and double dark chocolate cake. Our deluxe studio room was nice enough and scrupulously clean but nothing special. When we return for a longer stay, I'll opt for a Pool Suite. However, the view was lovely and we were close enough to the hear water lapping the shore. The pool area is inviting and quaint. The beach is small but nice with an excellent view of Jost Van Dyke offshore.

Dinner was in a category all it's own. A combination of old world/tropical ambiance combined with innovative and mouthwatering creations made for a memorable meal. A velvety tortilla soup got things started followed by Steak Au Poivre which was so tender it melted. The seasoning was perfect and compliemented rather than overwhelmed the meat. .

All in all, we highly recommend Sugar Mill Hotel and Restaurant and look forward to staying there again soon.

Room Tip: The Deluxe Studio was more than adequate but we'd splurge for a Pool Studio in the future.

My husband and I spent 9 fabulous days at the Sugar Mill in May 2012. The rooms are sweet, the food is tasty, the wine list is fantastic and the various frozen rum-filled concoctions were superb. As everybody has mentioned already, this is all well and good, but the amazing, friendly and knowledgeable service provided by the staff (at every level) was truly the best I have ever experienced anywhere. Our hearts belong to the Sugar Mill. Thank you Hillary, Theresa, Bernard and Sharon (among the many others) for making our trip so special.

We stayed at the Sugar Mill for 9 nights in May 2012 - and got married on the beach whilst there. The hotel is beautiful - the photos and website do not do it justice. The rooms and bathrooms are of a high standard - we had a de luxe room (ie their basic room) and it was lovely. The staff are all friendly and relaxed - yet very professional too. They achieve exactly the right balance. The hotel organised the wedding for us as well - although we didn't want much. They made the day perfect and even acted as our witnesses. We particularly wanted somewhere small and personal for our very special holiday and this fitted the bill exactly on that front. The food is to die for - and nothing was too much trouble. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Room Tip: We were in ordinary rooms and they were very spacious, well equipped and set out. Bathrooms also to high standard. Very happy with our room and little touches provided. Bed was most huge and comfortable hotel bed have ever slept in.

Just spent 10 days at the Sugar Mill. It was absolutely fantastic. Great rooms, comfortable beds, delicious eats and drinks, but it was the staff that took the prize. Within the first hour, everyone knew my wife and I, anything we wanted, they were right there to care of us. Very polite and on top of everything, they did it all with a down to earth island touch. None of the up tight big city feeling. Whether you are staying 10 days or just passing through on your way to a charter, I'd highly suggest staying here.

We stayed at the Sugar Mill for 6 nights overlooking the pool and water---a wonderful one bedroom cottage, with very relaxing porch the BEST outside shower I have ever experienced. The hospitality of the owners and staff were unparalleled! We were greeted upon arrival with a free rum punch and a bottle of their Sugar Mill Rum waiting in our room The first evening they invited all quests to a free coctail party around the pool---unlimited drinks and the best mustard mussels I have ever had! It provided all of us the opportunity to meet the owners and other quests, which was very nice. We never left the resort---spending our time between the beach and the pool---and of course eating at their three restaurants---which were exceptional! Can't wait until we go back!!!
