“VERY expensive for what you get...”
Reviewed 2 September 2011

North Sound charged $195 for their green fees which included a cart and nothing else. They didn’t have great service. They didn’t have a cart that circled the course with drinks. They didn’t offer caddy service (and for less the Ritz Blue course did) and the course was in shabby shape. The only thing it had going for it was that it was 18 holes and it was on the same island as we were vacationing. The fees are way out of line for what you get (or rather don’t get). There wasn’t even anyone there to clean your clubs afterwards. If you go to the Caymans think about resting up for your round when you get home. I read in the paper that the Ritz was going to acquire this course. The good news is that it should make the course and the service much better. The bad news is that you may have to stay to play which would mean the Ritz would have the monopoly on golf courses in Grand Cayman.

“Worth a visit”
Reviewed 9 May 2011

The only 18 hole course on the Island. A good layout with some excellent holes, par 3 11th is superb. Some of the fairways are bare at the moment as they have had very little rain in the last few months. The greens are excellent and when they have been cut can be very quick.
If you get the chance play during the week after midday, will cost you 145USD, weekends and before midday will cost you 195USD this time of year. Carts included in the fee.
Take your camera for some close up photos of the numerous local Iguana's !!!

“Decent course with vastly improved greens”
Reviewed 28 April 2011

The North Sound Club is the only full length course on the island. Now owned by the Ritz Carlton which has it's own private 9 hole course, North Sound offers a great variety of holes, some nice views, and a welcome, casual vibe.

I've played the course many times over the years. The biggest change has been the dramatic improvement in the greens under the Ritz management. While still on the slow side, they are in good shape and very consistent. The tees are in great need of an upgrade and the fairways are spotty.

The best part of the course is the variety of holes in the design. Starting with a quirky par 3, there are 10-12 strong holes from a design standpoint. The finishing holes 16-18 are as good as any. Several short par 4's require good strategy and shotmaking. Finally, 5 sets of tees give you a lot of options. Especially with the wind, the back tees require some strong forced carries over water.
