We stopped here for a simple dinner. This is a very casual bar and grill on the beach past Frigate Bay. It's a very short ride from the Marriott. It'd be a great beach for a day in the sun with lunch and a bar right there.

The fish tacos were very good. Again, it's simple grill food, but they were good.

This is a great place to catch the sunset - but the grill closes at sundown.

The drinks (especially the sand dollar) and fish tacos were awesome. It's a very laid back bar and small beach area with monkeys hanging out everywhere. There is some decent snorkeling off the shore too. Can't wait to go back!

Go here in the late afternoon and stay for the sunset. You won't be disappointed. If you want to get a true feel for the island this little place is it. Away from the crowds and the views you will see on your way there are breathtaking!!!!

We stopped here on a recommendation from one of the vet school students. It's a lively, rustic place, totally beach casual, not for uppity folks looking for a fancy meal or to show off their designer vacation wear.
Loved the lived-in and eclectic feel of the bar area, with wooden benches, and unfinished wood signed by tourists from all over the world. The thatched roof shades on the strip of black sand add to the overall beach casual feeling.
We had the local vegetarian plate and veggie tacos. .. which was all fresh and local, not overly Americanized fancy fare that we have found on a lot of the island. We went back several times when we wanted hearty food with local rice and beans. And we could eat with salt water in our hair and sand on our feet.
The monkeys don't bother anyone, although there are rumors of them snatching drinks off the beach. The monkeys are everywhere on the roads, not just hanging out at Shipwreck.

I would recommend it if you're looking for an island vibe, and don't mind a little self service. I found it refreshing to not have a staff person constantly lingering and up selling, just got what we wanted from the bar and went on our merry way.

Had a fun time here. Sunday night, band from 6-8, on the beach, and it is truly a beach shack. Many locals come here and many looked like they had been drinking all day. Lots of people dancing, singing, and everyone we met was very friendly. Service was a bit slow, but the place was packed. Food was good, but we definitely enjoyed the entertainment, visiting with folks that lived on the island, the views and the awesome sunset. Definitely recommend.
