Museum is small but informative. I love reading/learning about history. It's worth a stop if you're in Nevis but not something I would say is a MUST see while visiting.

Don't expect some big, air-conditioned museum with priceless artifacts. This is the Caribbean and the weather conditions do not allow for anything too precious here. Nevertheless, it is a touching tribute to the native son of Nevis, without whom the good ole U.S.A. would not have a Treasury Department. It's on the same grounds as his birthplace and I found it moving to stand on the place he likely played as a child. When he wasn't working, of course. I think he was working at the age of nine.

The museum is very basic but one can tell that someone worked hard to try to tell 1) the story of Nevis and the people and 2) the story of Alexander Hamilton with a focus on Nevis.
They could make more business on souvenirs (the shirt is more focused on the historical society than anything else).

From born out of wedlock to becoming the leader member of President Washington's cabinet, it is apparent Nevis is proud of their historical hero.

If you are interested in the colonization of Nevis and Alexander Hamilton, you will enjoy the detailed research and written materials in this exhibit. Not really a lot about Hamilton's birth, really - more about his life and times. The Nevisian slave history was fascinating, again if you have historical interests. The fee was $5 per person and it is a small exhibit - perhaps a 20' room. Worth it if you want to understand who the man was behind the portrait on the US $10 bill. Have you ever noticed Hamilton is the only one looking to his right? All the other portraits on US bills are looking to the left.
