We booked this trip because we found a very good deal online. However I was thinking this was a 4 star hotel- but it was more like a 3 star. We were in a studio with a kitchenette which was useful and had a partial ocean view. Overall it was def worth the price we paid but I expected the hotel to be nicer!

We just returned from 5 nights. We had a first floor jr suite facing pool/ocean. Here's the deal for families:
Pros:
-1st floor pool with door directly to patio. This was Super convienent.
-Very safe. We've stayed in jamaica and other islands and felt fine to leave our doors open and walk to the stores.
- huge room for Fam of three. Kitchen is a plus
-lazy river pool is nice
-right next to hotel is a very cool, upscale boutique hotel with bar and lounge. A few steps away on beach is another 5 star hotel with good bar.
-cafe is good for lunches
-most where helpful

Cons:
-kitchen is great, but groceries were so expensive. Seriously, if you have family, pack food to bring ( ie Mac n cheese, cereal, etc.) the baggage fee will be less than store. We paid about $230 for what would have been about $70. Froot loops = $7 a box, frozen burrito = $4 each.
-hotel shuts down at 9 for the most part. But the others to either side of beach are still open.
-no kids activities, but the beach is perfect and they do have lots of buckets/toys to use.
-pool is NOT heated

Overall, we would return. It was so relaxing to wake up and do nothing all week.

For younger couples, I'd look into the grace bay club next door.

Room Tip: First floor with patio door was awesome! Easy in and out!

This was our 5th trip to Provo and once again it was spectacular. We have stayed at the Sands at Grace Bay, Royal West Indies and now the Ocean Club West. I will say all the places were clean and had very nice grounds/pools/beaches. The Ocean Club West is by far the best location. You can walk/bike to grocery store, casino and shopping. Also very close to a lot of other resorts with many bar/restaurant options. The customer service was fantastic from the moment we stepped out of the taxi. Gordan was like our personal assistant and kept in touch with us the entire visit. We were upgraded to the third floor ocean front suite with the most awesome view of the clear blue water. Absolutely our best visit yet.

My husband and I just returned from one week vacation in TCI and we stayed at this lovely complex. THe resort is on the best part of Grace Bay beach.
it has all you need, gorgeous beach, ocean and plenty of sun beds and umbrellas

The food at the Cabana was amazing...if you have to have a lobster tail go there. Best value and best taste. Kay Ann is the most amazing loving lady working there., She really goes the extra mile for her clients.

the only negative at the Cabana is that they allow people to smoke and that is very annoying. We had to move tables several times and if it wasn't for the good food we almost did not go back because of the smokers

Try the Pina colada....the cabana is really the place to go.

we tried OPUS restaurant when we were there and we definately were not impressed. overpriced for a mediocre service and food.

La bella luna is nice and the food is good. worth what you pay for

we loved this place and we will come back for sure!

Just Returned from a 7 day trip to provo, We stayed at the ocean club west in a jr suite.

The room had a full size fridge, stovetop, along with a washer and dryer. Our unit was on the third floor with an island view, please note that there aren't any elevators at this hotel .Overall the place was your typical extended stay, nothing luxury at all but great for the value and relatively clean. Great place if you plan on renting a car and exploring.

The food here was ok, I was actually upset with the bar. It was not inviting at all. [especially when compared to the ocean club east property.] I brought a cooler bag and brought my own to the beach daily.

The location of ocw is great for people that don't plan on renting a car. It's within walking distance or biking to everywhere you need to go. Their are a ton of restaurants, a food market, Avis car rental,Bank, And a Pharmacy right up the road. 5 minute very easy and safe walk.

OCW beach was great, plenty of chairs, and a lot of beach compared to some of the other hotels. The sand was perfect, [some of the other hotels seemed to have a larger amount of shells - doesnt bother me but figured i would mention it]

The hotel was a little too dated for us, BUT if your on a budget and would rather spend your money on activities and checking out the island like we did then this place would be perfect.

We rented a car for the last 3 days on this trip, wish i would have done the full 7. Cant compare.

We checked out the following places and to be honest they are the reason i loved turks, you couldnt pay me to just stay 7 days and ocw.

Taylor Bay
Sapodilla Bay
La brisas
Pelican Beach
Conch Shack ....and more.

LOVED TURKS AND CAICOS

Id probably choose The sands at grace bay if i was going to return with the same budget.

Room Tip: No elevators, if your not getting an ocean view i would suggest choosing a ground level unit.

This is definitely a very, very laid back place. There's hardly any nightlife on this side of the island, at least, the grounds at best were ok. The pool is the best ammenity of this place and there is only one "restaurant" on site. Food is pretty good but there is not a huge selection whatsoever. Staff is very friendly but one thing to be very cautious about: after about midnight there is NO ONE on the grounds. There is no security, no guards, no cameras, nothing protecting you from the outside world. The room was pretty good so I can't complain there, it was not very modern, however. It served its purpose. Beach is beautiful but there is nothing particularly great about this hotel. They do provide transporation to the Ocean Club East but honestly, it is pretty much the same situation as Club West with a few more rooms and an extra pool added in. There were hardly any guests, not sure if because of the time we went or if this is how it usually is. Four girls with barely anyone else to talk to, we enjoyed ourselves but I think this is more of a couples or family oriented place where you would want to keep to yourselves.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else.

I do want to make a correction. Ocean Club and Ocean Club West both have hidden security cameras throughout the properties. In addition, there is onsite security. Ocean Club Resorts takes security most seriously. As far as armed guards, you will not see them anywhere in the Turks & Caicos as you might on another island.
It is most concerning when a guest’s expectation is different than what we offer. Ocean Club Resorts are the perfect place to relax. Intimate in size, the resorts were developed with “elbow room” in mind. I am happy to hear you enjoyed the pool - it does offer chaise lounges away from other guests. Ocean Club West offers the one restaurant, beachfront Seaside Café with the only Conch Bar on island. Ocean Club offers the beachfront Cabana Bar & Grille and the fine dining Opus Restaurant that has a superb bar and lounge area. Ocean Club West is one of the most convenient resorts on Grace Bay Beach and is within walking distance of restaurants, shopping, nightlife, and a grocery. Although Turks & Caicos does offer nightlife, it is not what the island is known for. We are always happy to make any recommendations. If you ever change your mind as to what you and your friends may want in a vacation, we would love to have you return.

My husband and I stayed a week at OCW and rented unit #413 directly from the owner, Bob. (VRBO.com listing #243678). The ground floor location is perfect - just steps from the gorgeous pool and ocean (where we spent our days), and most convenient to the nice grills by the pool (where we cooked most nights). The louvre windows throughout the unit make for a lovely beachy breeze throughout the day and evening, and the screened porch was so nice for lounging (on the chaise) in the morning sipping coffee, and for eating dinner by candlelight. We could tell that the owners have put a lot of thought into comfort - plenty of plush towels, very nice coffee maker and washer/dryer, and a great selection of books and DVDs. We NEVER found ourselves lacking anything we needed in the kitchen, bathroom, etc.

We loved being at OCW because it was the perfect combination of luxury and laid-back island attitude. Perks such as daily beach towel service (never had to carry bulky towels to/from the beach), a full-service restaurant between the pool and beach (loved ordering drinks from my lounge chair!), and readily available chairs/umbrellas (never had to go "reserve" one early) were such a treat for us. But I also never felt like I needed to be dressed up or in anything other than my beach-wear and flip-flops anywhere on the property - a very comfortable, relaxing atmosphere throughout the resort, and the staff is incredibly friendly. Also, you can easily walk to the grocery store, gift shops, various restaurants, etc.

Highly HIGHLY recommend Ocean Club West and especially unit #413!
