My husband and I were detained by blizzard in Phila for three more days (oh poor us) and had to leave the rental we were in in Red Hook (Kaleidoscope Villa -which was great). We had been in the Sapphire Beach resort several years ago to rent a car , not to stay, and it was lovely. We had also sat on the beach there...nice beach. So, when we were scrambling and stressed at new of the blizzard, we went to Trip Advisor (my bible..have never been steered wrong on several occasions- super places). Don't be fooled by how this is listed as we were. There are several places/condos/listings related to Sapphire Beach. We saw the name and read some reviews and they were great. These were not for the one we got (unit B-3...bottom floor...private owner).
1. no sign for the office, anywhere (in second floor room-weird)
2. woman in office did not give us towels, nor instructions to open the car gate, use facilities in any way.
3. swamp gas belched out of toilet at the very end of the flush..foul foul "whoo hoo" foul smell.
4. brown water in that swamp gas toilet
5. dirt/dust under chairs
6. rust and chipped wood/metal/paint many places (in bath especially)
7. dated uncomfortable furniture in living room area.
8. holes in screen, chips in outer door..so critters could come right in.
9. shades fell off back door window if you used them
10. weird metal sheeting material on front screened porch (a lot) covered by large deflated school bus yellow rubber/plastic cover. Other crap strewn around the porch.
11. coffee vendor was beyond disinterested in "service". The coffee urn ran out of coffee mid cup after my husband had paid and been given the cup to obtain his coffee. The woman vendor who had been disdainful the day before in their transaction..shrugged when he said there was nothing coming out of the urn. Then she turned around and resumed her conversation with someone. No mention of more coffee coming, or a refund. Nada, zilch, fergit about it.
12. Met nice folks who told us there is a lawsuit and litigation going on which is affecting everything. Much is seedy and boarded up where restaurants etc. used to be. Pool area under construction in some areas..construction people not in evidence.
Overall...unless you know the individual renter of a unit...skip this place until they find their way again. It's a shame we spent a lot of money.

Room Tip: No Unit B-3

My wife and I stayed at Steve and Honey's fabulous B~11 beach condo and everything about it was amazing. From the listing we didnt realize how close the condo was to the beach. We have visited several beach hotels and resorts, but rarely are the rooms this close.

And this is a condo with many services nearby. Within less than a 5 minute walk from our condo door, we enjoyed all of the following:

- plenty of beach chairs and lounge chairs for SBWC guests only
- beach bar and grill (try the Mahi sandwich and their frozen "Lime in the Coconut" drink :)
- drink service at the beach
- kayak rentals
- free snorkeling 50 feet from shoreline with thousands of colorful fish and corals
- dive shop with rental gear
- great restaurant at Sapphire Village
- shuffleboard
- tennis courts
- swimming pool

Our hosts were so easy to book with and arrange all details. The condo itself is well decorated and includes all the things that make a vacation enjoyable: wi-fi and 52" TV and comfy seating and a kitchen stocked with all the necessities. The unit is spacious and well decorated and offers plenty of privacy for a quiet vacation.

And it is so close to the town of Red Hook - only a 5 minute taxi ride. And no need to arrange a taxi ride - just walk up the short driveway and taxis and the dollar buses are always driving by with no wait.

Red Hook has great restaurants and also Moes grocery is convenient and has everything.

Be sure to try Fishtails restaurant in Red Hook - its on the water!

Everywhere we went the locals all agree that Sapphire Beach is the best for snorkeling, and unit B-11 is only a 2 minute walk from the best beach on the island!

SBWC is a rare luxury to find on one of the premier beaches in the Caribbean!!

We cant wait to return!!

Room Tip: B-11 is a great unit - such a convenient location - and no steps!!

My wife 2 daughters and I just spent a week staying at B-11. This was our second year at Sapphire Beach but our first experience with this unit and this complex. Our experience was very positive the unit is spacious, clean, sleeping arrangements are comfortable and the unit is well provisioned with snorkel and tennis gear. There is also an extensive library of books dvds, cds, games and a great audio visual system. It really feels homey. This is a great location fora family that would enjoy a great beach, snorkel and play tennis. The unit also handicap accesible which was important for us. The owners are very hepful and a lot of useful info. Overall it was an enjoyable week.

Room Tip: great location

We just returned home from C-28. Everything was awesome! We could see the beautiful sapphire beach directly from the living room. The beach was only 2 minutes walk from the condo. On the beach we went snorkeling and saw a bunch of fish. We also enjoyed the free chairs provided by the owners group.

The location of this condo was perfect. It was close to coki beach and red hook (about 5 minutes drive). We drove from the airport on the night we arrived. We though it could be difficult to find it but we made it easily!
Watch the signs on the left side of RT-38 and the "Crystal cove sapphire bay west" will finally pop out. Parking space was more than needed so we never had a problem finding a spot.

In the condo we found everything we needed for cooking. Also the A/C was powerful, hot water was stable, and the beds including the Murphy beds were comfortable. The wifi was not fast but not bad for email and web browsing. The environment was very peaceful at night so we had good sleep every night.

This is my first time to have a vacation rental, and it is a wonderful beginning. Thanks to Karen's amazing C-28 and we will definitely recommend it to our friends.

Room Tip: Book your condo through VRBO so you will be contacted directly from the owner
