Loved the house (art and tile work) and vistas! Most of our hours were spent in the pool and on the patio, or at the beach. We were pleased there were so many pool floats, beach towels, and enough snorkel gear that we didn't have to rent/buy any. All the beaches were lovely (avoid Tuesday's at Trunk Bay; there are cruise ship excursions); best snorkeling at Vie's private beach. The house was well equipped; plenty of towels, bath and beach, beach totes, coolers for the beach, clothes washer, and dish/washer detergents. Some confusion about whether the water was potable. We boiled a pot or two of water every day to be sure, but later found a sign in the lower apartment near the sink, stating the water system had a UV filter. You will need napkins/paper towels, bug spray and sun tan lotion. Dusk and dawn are the worst times for mosquitoes and sand fleas at the beaches. Look for the anoles and hermits crabs (outside the front porch patio), and one cat to keep you company. Don't be discouraged if rain is forecasted; it rains every day for a half hour or so. There is a CD/DVD player and two iPod docks, but we brought a speaker with blue tooth capability(splash-proof), for the pool area and just played our iPhone playlists off it. Also, there is a blender for those frozen cocktails!

“Incredible view from a lovely house”

The approach from the road is marked by (4) sapphire lights that are so pretty, as we descended the driveway we were greeted by the house that was all lit up, with a spectacular view! Words will never do it justice. The tile work around the house is incredible and a bit eclectic, which we loved. Location was 10-15 mins. from Cruz bay and the roads are paved, but described by our greeter, Carolyn as "Jacob's Ladder" she was not kidding. Rent a jeep, it's the best way to get around, we rented from Sunshine on St. John.

Back to the house... bedrooms are air conditioned, including the separate downstairs apartment. Main living, kitchen space and the loft bedroom are not and it gets very toasty. I would give this property 5 stars if it was air conditioned. Never really got the cross winds from opening the doors. Small infinity pool and hot tub were both well used and a very nice bonus. There is a small bathroom off the pool with some snorkeling and pool gear. I would suggest adding towel racks or hooks to allow for air drying towels, instead we threw them all over the lounge chairs. I would rate the (2) outdoor living spaces of this property 5 plus stars.

There is a washer and dryer which is nice because in the week we were there we only got one set of beach towels and one set of house towels for each person. After a day at the beach the towels get pretty wet and sandy and need a wash. I think there should be a midweek house cleaning as stated (but that did not happen), was told not applicable for a one week rental. The dryer needs maintenance because the timer didn't work properly so it would stop after a few spins. But, if any problems arise, Joe comes right over to take care of anything.

Kitchen is complete with all things needed to prepare a meal for 8 people. Plenty of dishes, cups, glassware, utensils, spatulas, etc. A few basic spices-salt, pepper, basil, cumin.

Bedrooms are large and nice, beds are comfortable, but sheets kept coming off and very annoying. View from the 2 main floor bedrooms were spectacular.

For your excursions to the beach, there are 3 coolers but all have no wheels. There is a large blue ice pack with 2 smaller tubular ones in the freezer which was sufficient to cool water, and some sandwiches. Large Lands End Canvas tote bags were provided for use during the stay, it was perfect for beach towels, snorkel gear, sunscreen, and DO NOT forget the insect repellent!! Also, bring your own shampoo and conditioner, the stuff they provide is not great. It'll do, but days in salt water do a number on your hair.

This is a great house for a large group because there are separate spaces if you just want to get away and zen. BTW, there is a resident cat who hangs out by the front deck. She is old and really cute, she greets you when you get home. We had a wonderful time in St. John and loved this house!
