So, we were swimming along, following a sea turtle, when we notice the turtle has looked over it's shoulder, and changed direction ever so slightly. We looked in the same direction, and what comes swimming by, but a 10' or so shark. Not knowing the species, we decided to take a break from the water. The beach is a bit narrow, but there was space under the trees to get in the shade, and the water was beautiful

On its own, it's a gorgeous little bay and beach. Compared to some of the others you can see, it was pretty average.

A short little walk down a gravel road takes you to this cute little bay. Of all the places we snorkeled on the island, this is where we saw the greatest assortment of creatures all at one location. Along the rocky edges we saw the usual suspects (parrot fish, tangs, sergeant majors, etc.), a shark, spotted eel, and two octopi. The grassy center of the bay is a popular feeding site to a large number of sea turtles.
If you are wanting a pristine, white, sandy beach with facilities in proximity to the parking lot and like to haul a lot of stuff in with you, you will want to stick with Hawksnest or Maho. But if you are into exploring and snorkeling, definitely check out Salt Pond!

This was our last stop when we rented the Jeep for the day. The locals suggested this stop. Small hike, but so worth it. Sea Turtles just swim right by you. On the hike, you'll see so many variations of hermit crabs...unbelievably beautiful! Wish we had spent more time at this beach! A must-do.

I was there in January and this was one of the few places where the Christmas winds were making the water too murky to snorkel. The visibility was crystal clear. Saw sea turtles, all sorts of fish and amazing coral. The beach was a bit of a hike from our hotel so packing a lunch and everything you need is a great idea. There's plenty of shade and places to get out of the sun. Such an idyllic spot. Can't wait to go back.
