“Best Family Vacation Ever”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 December 2011

We were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary with our three adult children and 2 grandchildren. This location gave us the perfect place to share time together....rooms were clean and resort was first rate. Great location next door to Atlantis without the noise and crowds. We walked over there for entertainment and then back to our quiet home away from home. Beach was first rate, pool ditto. Lovely people in office to help with everything. Will be back.

Room Tip: I can't think of any room locations that would be bad. We had a 2bdrm condo on first floor and...

On the plus side it is not crowded, has access to the beach, kitchen, large rooms, good security

On the negatives, the internet and phones were down for 4 days, had mainteance issues and property needs update, old tvs, only a 20 gallon hot water heater, we went through 3 refrigerators before we got one that actually worked. you will have limited access to Atlantis if you do not stay with their properties, with all the maintance issues they decided to pressure wash the sidewalk with a loud compressor on Sunday morning !! They could have picked another time.

In conclusion if you are very limited in funds, this place is cheap, you get what you pay for, Sharon tried so hard and everyone was very nice but we spent alot of our time inconvenienced by things broken/not working . So you could give it a try but I don't /will not recommend it unless you are going on low budget trip. This is a one and half star hotel at best.

First and foremost we must thank you for generously mentioning things we pride ourselves on, such as the great service from our staff, access to the beach, no crowd, large rooms and good security; those items that help you “Come Home to Sunrise Beach Villas”. At Sunrise we enjoy knowing all our guests by name and are distressed when something goes wrong to make their stay less than a highlight of their trip to beautiful Paradise Island.

Our maintenance crew has been made aware that pressure washing early on a Sunday morning can be an inconvenience to those who wish to sleep a bit longer. We also wish to take this opportunity to apologize for the huge inconvenience of no phone service. In today’s world there is no-one that would not be upset by this and our distress matched yours on this one.

This property has undergone massive renovations recently. With ongoing renovations, we aim to be certain that every guest will want to return to Sunrise Beach and hope that you will give us another try. It is our hope that on your next trip you will have the experience that shows why we are continually rated within the top two properties on TripAdvisor by good guests like yourself.

Wanting to avoid the super touristy and pricey Atlantis, yet wanting to stay close to the action (read: not so far that we couldn't find things to do), I finally found SunRise highly recommended here on yelp so I went for it!
The grounds were clean, spacious yet intimate..we entered our 1 bedroom 2 story (2 bath) apartment, and we were so pleasantly surprised, amazed and in awe...after all, we did NOT spend an arm and a leg on the place, but it sure looked like we did!! Immediately to our left was an already prepared table (with place settings, plates, glasses and everything already set for dining), a small FULL kitchen (oven, fridge, utensils, pots/pans,microwave,they even include dishwashing liquid, washbowl, salt & pepper!)..
The downstairs had a pull out couch and a restroom, and a TV, then a spiraling staircase leading upstairs to the bedroom which was a spacious and clean bed (King size maybe?), another TV, and a full restroom with a walk out balcony where I enjoyed breakfast a few mornings (oh, and the first floor has a front porch, tables and chairs if you want to enjoy your meals outdoors! aWesome!!)..

The coolest part was that the ocean was just a few steps aways...maybe 20 steps from our door! It was the shortest walk, and it was soooo cool to be so close to the ocean!
The pool however is not heated, so that was a bummer as it was a tad chilly when we were there, but would have enjoyed dipping into a warm pool. The villas are about a 10 minute walk to the main shopping area on Paradise Island (small grocery store, ferry area, restaurants) and if you don't want to walk, taxis are pretty accessible.

You get daily housekeeping service which brings in fresh towels and does your bed (you have to do your own dishes of course) AND you should note that they do charge you a "housekeeping gratuity fee" which is automatically charged on your final bill...nothing unreasonable..maybe a $10 or less a day fee...so if you want to leave a "tip" for the housekeeper, you can, but also know that you are being charged a daily cleaning fee..so don't feel too bad if you don't have the extra cash to tip (but if you have it, by all means, tip away!).

Oh, also note that you can have the front desk order you domino's pizza (if you're trying to save some cash, as food is pretty expensive and generally not worth the price in quality). And like most all reviewers noted, Viola's- the restaurant on the grounds is pretty horrible. Get something basic there (if you have no other choice) but don't break the bank there..so not worth it (try SeaFood Haven..I'll write about them on another review)..

And if the water is choppy and cold (as it was when we were there) be sure to schedule yourself a beach day at the Blue Lagoon (about $50 a person)..it was so worth it, and the front desk can help you with that! Enjoy!! If we go back to Nassau, we'll DEFINITELY stay here again!

Room Tip: Rooms on the 110 side face the side of the villas, which is more private if you choose to eat on you...

We just got back from a wonderful 5 day trip to this great resort. (stayed Nov 9-14) We had unit #12 and it was perfect. John (the onwer) was very helpful during the booking process and when we arrived. The 2 BR 2 Bath unit was spacious and comfortable.

We used Fergie's taxi from the airport and stopped at the Value Market and Liquor store on the way as well to stock up for our trip.
The grounds were kept very clean and the beach was great. The waves were really crashing in and my husband, 8 year old son and I had fun getting rolled around in the surf.
There are guys renting beach chairs for $10.00 a day and selling mixed drinks in a coconut. We bought a drink one day for $20 and you get a small bottle of rum and something like 8 refills.

Violas was fun too, the food is not the best but you will find something you like I am sure. The pour a good drink too and popped in for drinks in the evening a couple of times and met some cool locals.

We spent some time at Atlantis and I will review that on the forum page as well, It was fun but I am glad we did not stay there. (my son was glad too, its very big)
All in all if you book the Sunrise you will not be disappointed. It really is very nice and I will definately go back again.
Have fun planning your trip.

We (7 of us) rented Villa #16 for a girls' weekend/birthday celebration - on the beach, fabulous 4 bedroom, 4 bath villa with nice furnishings, beautiful view - couldn't ask for more. The deck is HUGE, Television in every room, kitchen with everything you could need and what you didn't have you could order from foodstore2go.com - The staff at the Sunrise was very accommodating - you ask for something - they bring it to you. Viola's restaurant had excellent breakfast choices, good prices, and the lunch/snack menu was perfect. Friday night we went to Viola's for karaoke, and had a blast. We ventured to the Atlantis a few times, but were always so happy to go back "home" to Sunrise - beautiful pools, beach, accommodations - could not ask for more. If I go back to the Bahamas, this is where I will stay. Thank you Sharron, Tanya, and the rest of the Staff at Sunrise for a wonderful, memorable stay.

I loved staying at 9A Sunrise. The apartment is spacious and spotless and the resort is a great place to stay. Although there is always something going on at the onsite bar/restaurant Viola's the overall atmosphere is relaxing. The owner is responsive and accommodating to requests. The view over the pool and beach is amazing and having direct access to the beach is fantastic. It is possible to walk to the attractions on Paradise Island namely Atlantis so this makes it terrific value for money.

I've stayed at many units at Sunrise Beach Club over the years and Unit #12 is one of the nicest I've stayed in. The owner has done an incredible job of renovating it and updating it with everything you would need to ensure you have one of the most enjoyable vacations possible. No outdated or shabby furnishings here. Unit #12 has been decorated in the finest taste with new, stylish and comfortable furniture in every room, including large flat screen tv's in the living room and both bedrooms. You will feel like you are living in your own home in this little piece of Paradise. The location couldn't be better. Right on the beach and situated between Atlantis and the Ocean Club makes it a very convenient location. The owner is very helpful and takes great pride in ensuring that all his guests have a great time. Already planned my next trip!!

Room Tip: Best rooms are Villa # 9A, #12, #12A all beautifully decorated and updated with all amenities needed...
