We were very lucky to get this as a last minute booking. We were greeted with some apple juice, eggs and later with some home some very tasty baked cake prepared by Louise, the owners who live adjacent to he cottage. The views were beautiful, the accommodation was excellent and we were blessed with warm weather too. The setting was tranquil and we were supplied with coal for a bbq and wood for a camp fire. My partner didn't want to leave. Rob and Louise and their children were lovely hosts.
Louise, Rob and family are so welcoming and very kind. The cottage is in a wonderful spot, beautiful woodland walks on the doorstep. Handy position for walks just a little further afield too, you are also within easy access of Humble by Nature who offer day courses if you fancy something different to do. We will definitely be going again, hopefully in the autumn to see the change in the season.
Really lovely cottage with the best view and the friendliest hosts. Lots of attractions for the outdoorsy family. Mountain bilking, junior go ape and beautiful walks from the door.
We were greeted by a heart warming sign 'slow free range kids about'as we drove up to Highlands Cottage :). We've been looking forward to our 4 day break in the Wye Valley. Louise met us at her cosy cottage with a warm smile & left us with freshly baked bread, fresh eggs & apple juice from her orchard..
Delicious!! Highlands Cottage is a lovely cosy cottage for 4, has all you need for your self catering stay. You'd need to go to the nearest bigger town for groceries. There are walks you can do in the area, get your walking boots on & explore. We did that with our two kids. We met Rob on the second day, who like Louise was very welcoming & at hand if we needed anything. There were chickens & ducks about, our kids enjoyed exploring the cottage & grounds.
All in we enjoying our stay & would have loved to stay longer. Will definately return for sure. Many Thanks Louise & Rob for your warm hospitality. Hope to visit again :), Best wishes, Samantha & Michael.
Lovely cosy cottage with easy access to nearby towns & countryside. Monmouth is great for shops and restaurants. The Lion Inn nearby does great food. Fabulous walks from the property - who could want for more. We stayed for 4 nights and were very comfortable with 3 adults, would be no problem for 2 adults & 2 children or just a couple. All amenities covered, just food for the stay needed.
My family and I had a wonderful 12 day stay at highland cottage. The cottage was clean, cute and warm. My little ones loved he bunk beds. Every morning we enjoyed breakfast outside in the patio and watched chicken and ducks. The kids absolutely loves collecting eggs.
Rob and Louise were in communication our whole trip to make sure that we had everything we needed. They also treated us to some fresh bread and apple juice. Such a treat.
The location couldn’t be better. Area of outstanding natural beauty. We explored castles, Tintern Abbey, the Big Pit, Forest of Dean and little hikes around their house.
It was a truly magical stay and I would highly recommend it to anyone.
