We stayed here overnight as we had an early pick up in neath. Excellent value for money a pleasant ,comfortable and very clean room (lighting could be a little better ).. We didn’t eat here as restaurant is not open on Sundays ,we had heard good things about the restaurant and would have eaten here .

I stayed here for one night for work after a colleague recommendation.

Easy to find, friendly welcome with large rooms with nice decor. Free wi-fi, but the highlight is the food in the restaurant as I had Tapas - amazing.

Only downside was the small amount of on site parking, but street parking is nearby.

Firstly, i made a mistake with the dates i required, i called and explained this fact and asked for a refund for the night i mistakenly booked. The hotel told me 'no', even though i had gone ahead and booked the night i actually wanted (so it's not like i wasn't booking!).
During my stay i asked again to which i was told by a member of staff that they totally agreed with me but had to ask the manager who wasn't due in that day. I asked if he could call me to which i was told of course. No call, i called again, 'he's in tomorrow at 3-00, i'll get him to call you then', no call!, then a call, which i missed saying he would call me the next day, that's ok, next day, guess what, no call. The next day i emailed only to be told there would be no refund. ok i know the policy but this was a genuine error, backed up by the fact that i actually went ahead and booked a room yet no inch was given. So the moral is don't expect any favours from this place. We noticed one of the lights in the bedroom didn't work, we then realised it was because the bulb was missing! The hotel is advertised as having 24 hour reception, we came back around 11.45 and the place was in darkness with no one anywhere to be seen. Luckily we weren't the only ones though and the other person had already called to get someone to let us in to the hotel, that had a 24 hour manned reception! We had a continental breakfast. We had to ask for fruit, cheese and water. even though there was a guy there who seemed to be twiddling his thumbs. While we were at breakfast, around 20 minutes, there was one other guy eating as well, the waiter stood there and yet approx 4 tables were loaded with dirty crockery and cutlery, yet the guy still done nothing. The cheese offered was like waggy rubber, awful! The car park has parking for maybe four cars, five tops and yet they have lots more rooms than that. On the morning we were there another customer was blocked in by two cars and had to move them himself in order to get his out, what if there was an accident? he would have been liable. He had little choice as the staff on duty could not drive! On the day we arrived there was a member of staff asleep on one of the seats in the dining room! The hotel needs a bit of love and care too, looks shabby from the outside. On the morning we were there we were awoken at 06-00 by the dustman ( cant do much about that) and the beer delivery ( can do something about that). So, if you want a pleasant stay and nice breakfast in a reasonable place, DON'T stay here.

Facilities are quite nice, restaurant and bar are modern and have a Tapas menu. Hotel is located centrally in the town. Limited car parking on site but a good venue for a workshop with approximately 15 people in the “Blue Lounge”.

We arrived mid after noon to check in and were surprised to be asked for the full amount of monies before seeing our rooms. We are OAP, and decided to take the lift. We had not collected cases and were parked on yellow lines due to the limited parking.The lift began to move then stopped mid floor! We pressed the alarm to ask for help no one came , we shouted, and hammered on the doors of the lift which was liscienced for 8 people we were 4 and no cases so not breaking any rules regardIng weight. We were left ,abandoned, ,nobody came to our assistence a recorded message said we could not be connected. We were feeling the effects of claustrophobia and heat when a member of staff came and said they had called the lift engineer who would be with us later and then disappeared we had been in the lift a long time and no one checked on us we called and hammered again and got no answer so we called the fire brigade on a mobile phone.They were able to reassure us but took a further 20 minutes at least to rescue us The service engineer arrived during this time. We questioned him about the lift and he mentioned that he had been there a month ago when he recommended that the emergency line was needing attention ,this had not been done. On our release there was no hotel representative , no one to apologise ,ask how we were or give us refreshments. As stated we are old age pensioners.
The firemen and the lift engineer were excellent but the hotel staff were apalling there were no safety procedures or lift rescue, and no duty of care to us trapped in the lift. We were shaken and wanted our money back but were told there was nothing wrong with the rooms we had booked so that was not offered.
The Blue Bell hotel does not deserve 4 stars. We were kept awake both nights with locals fighting, screaming, drugs being sold openly and police with dogs trying to restore order all below our bedroom window..

Room Tip: take ear plugs
