Stayed at St Ives Inn for 2 nights bed and breakfast. Had a warm welcome from landlord. Rooms clean and spacious however sink taps in need of repair. Beds not made after first nights stay or facilities replenished. Breakfast minimal and very basic. Most disappointing was the reception and attitude of the staff who provided breakfast in the morning very sullen, washed bar floor area with bleach water whilst my family including children were eating breakfast and indicated that she could not wait to finish and go home. Breakfast was self service in the area she was cleaning!! We declined breakfast on the second morning and left unhappy.

Booked two rooms for one night as it was nearest available for a wedding we were attending. On arrival we were shown to our rooms which seemed fine for the money and we quickly had to leave for the wedding.
On returning to the pub at about 11.00pm we were surprised to see this cosy pub had become a very loud place with security doorman ( who initially refused us entry).
It was a Saturday night and the bar was full of noisy locals with very loud repetitive music. We decided to go to bed after a long day travelling, but no chance sleeping as so much noise from the bar and street outside. I couldn't make out what the music was but it sounded like the juke box had got stuck on repeat on the same awful tune. The room was very hot so a poor nights sleep.
The next morning we went downstairs for breakfast to be met by a nice apologetic lady who explained that the normal person had gone sick so she was just standing in.
The breakfast on offer consisted of bread (toast) cereal and tea or coffee. I was expecting a proper cooked breakfast as we booked bed & breakfast. The lady who booked us in mentioned "toasties" and the standing in lady did manage to obtain some cheese and ham and make us toasties - our thanks to her for this.
But overall a poor experience and I would not recommend.

My partner and I recently stayed in this hotel for 2 nights mid-week and I honestly haven't ever stayed in a worse hotel. Our train arrived late at night, therefore we didn't expect to care about the appearance of the room, but upon seeing the room, we were less than impressed. The room was small and the bathroom was TINY, the light was very dim and struggled to light the dark room as it was painted brown with dark furniture and bedsheets. However, these were minor issues. We were both exhausted after a long journey, so we basically got straight in to bed and when we were trying to get to sleep we realised that we could both hear the conversations of the people in the next room, despite them seeming to be talking at a normal volume. We also had to sleep with one pillow each as there were no extra pillows provided. When we eventually managed to sleep, we tossed and turned all night due to noise from the street below our window. We were both wide awake by 6am as there was no proper blind in our room, therefore the light came in to the room very early on. We were asked to tell the landlady what time we would like breakfast, so when we came down as expected at 9:30am, we were shocked to find that there was no one around. When a lady appeared from behind the bar, we were told to help ourselves to cereal and toast and were offered a boiled egg and tea coffee or orange juice. We were eventually served a very hard boiled egg and a glass of cordial, not fresh orange juice. The bread seemed stale and I had to force down the basic breakfast. On the first morning, we found that the shower was cold, therefore we left the heater on overnight, but it didn't help as the shower was still icy cold the following morning. On the second morning, we were woken with a shock by a series of loud noises in the hallway outside the room.
Overall, the staff came across as rude and inhospitable. I wouldn't recommend the hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: Don't bother. Find a different hotel.

We had flown from Jersey then travelled an hour from the airport to this pub come accommodation place. It was raining when we arrived so had to squeeze through the doorway as there were a few people having a smoke out of the rain, no problem with that, got into the pub but the reception was actually the bar and the guy behind the bar looked up and said "well we don't have any space, we're fully booked". I got out my paperwork only to be told that booking.com are forever double booking so it is first come first served! It was around 7:30pm by this time. He sent someone off to get the land lady but she never came down to speak to us. One of the bar staff came back, who was very nice and kept apologizing, he even offered to take us to another hotel, but we had hired a car so refused his kind offer. So we left the pub as the DJ was blasting out his music. We couldn't find the hotel he suggested so ended up in the Holiday Inn paying twice the price! Why didn't the land lady contact us in enough time for us to book somewhere else like AirBnB? They must have known about the double booking. Looks like customer care doesn't feature very highly with these people.....

Room Tip: We never got the chance to see the room....
