Although to late for hot food, the sandwiches were great. Scones and hot drinks were really good and would happily return!

Beautifully clean and tidy little coffee shop. Good scones and good coffee. Have us some shelter from the wind as well!

For around 15 minutes we really thought we were on to something. Arriving at The Diving Gannet by chance around 10 past 4 on Wednesday we were informed that meals were no longer being served, as the cafe closed at 4.30, but that cake and coffee were available. Jolly G. Cake and coffee was just what we wanted. We ordered pretty quickly... and it arrived pretty quickly, giving us just enough time to visit the toilet.
Many establishments claim to serve "the best coffee in the East Neuk", and we have tried virtually all, but The Diving Gannet is the bees knees. This was a First Class flat white. The scone was nicely baked, and served with a sufficiency of clotted cream. The coffee and walnut cake was moist and very tasty. The hot milk on the side for the Americano arrived with the coffee. And it was hot. This is rare. And then they had to spoil it all.
Having been served our cake and coffee a little after 4.15, we had finished a few minutes after 4.30. We were discussing where to go next - and I had just put on my cap - when the person who had greeted and then served us felt obliged to come to the table and announce that the cafe closes at 4.30. Of course we were well aware of this, having been informed of it by her not 20 minutes earlier. But she hadn't forgotten. For those new to Scotland, this is the polite, the genteel, way to say "get out". And it is all too common. For Customer Service is largely a mystery to many in the 'hospitality industry'. You may agree with me that if an establishment is prepared to serve food and drink within 15 minutes of closing, customers must be given peace, and time, to enjoy it. If only that person had held her tongue for 2 more minutes, all would have been well. But she couldn't.

Thank you for taking the time to review, and apologies for making you feel rushed - this is not indicative of the way we work and will ensure all members of staff, including those less experienced, are aware of this. As you will see from previous reviews, the staff are praised regularly, and I feel very lucky to have such a great team.

We are proud of our coffee so thank you for complimenting both this and the eats to balance the review. If you visit again, and hope you will, do make yourselves known and enjoy a complimentary beverage and cake by way of apology.

This is an excellent cafe and it was very busy when we called in for a lunch. Someone was kind enough to allow us to share a table. We both enjoyed salmon and asparagus tart. The dish included salad which had an interesting combination to give a good balance of flavours. We will continue to visit this cafe as a destination on our walk from Elie to St. Monans.
