We were looking forward to celebrating our wedding anniversary at Craig Millar as had heard so much good feedback. Needless to say we were not disappointed, and in fact were even more amazed at how great the food, service and ambience was. The Maitre d' was extremely conscientious and knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. The waiting staff were all helpful and obviously happy in their work. The food was exceptional and we were very heartened that they took my shellfish allergy on board and accommodated it by some imaginative tweaking. So, a memorable experience....we are looking forward to going back any time soon, need no excuse of a 'celebration'! As seasoned Foodies we would recommend Craig Millar to anyone wishing a lovely meal in a lovely setting with great service.

We booked a tad last minute as we were a bit worried about parking. Lovely food ,mixing and matching two menus and kindly indulging me in my fear of raw meat or fish. Very helpful, knowledgeable and efficient maitre d' and enjoyed a lovely sunset . Restaurant area, crisp and bright and pub area full of charm.

We visited Craig Millar's restaurant with two friends that live locally after a last minute switch of plans. We booked at the last minute and managed to get a table with a great view of the harbour.

As you will have seen from other reviews, the idea is that you have a fixed price four or five course meal. The menu is split into two sides; land and sea. You can mix and match between the two and even mix and match courses (my other half had two desserts, one from each side of the menu).

We started with a lovely shot of gazpacho soup. It was spot on.

I started with a cheese and smoked haddock tart, followed by trout with oyster and miso caramel, then halibut with scallop, pea puree, mushrooms and asparagus. I finished off with a cheese souffle and a rhubarb and ginger parfait with honeycomb.

Every course was very good with the standout being the trout. Fantastic.

My other half mixed and matched a bit. She started with slow cooked beef with a cauliflower espume, followed the trout and halibut as I had. She finished with the rhubarb and ginger parfait followed by a chocolate ganache.

One of dining partners actually finished off with two cheese souffles, she thought it was that good.

We were all impressed by the quality of the food. The restaurant was very quiet (which was lucky for us as late bookers). This is a real shame as the food really was a cut above many other local restaurants. At £65 a head for 5 courses, I'd say they have the pricing bang on as well.

The staff were friendly, which suited us but could be slightly more polished. However, it's good to see young local people working in such a cracking place.

We'll be back, that's for sure. These guys are on definitely on my list. Well done.

What a fabulous place, secret bar and beautiful. The staff are amazing, soo helpful and knowledgable, creating a childs meal even though they don’t have a children menu. We loved that they have local staff who grew up in the village. The food was fantastic, very tasty, made with attention to detail, a real perfect treat.

Had our third lunch here over the last few months, food served was up to expectation, however rather disappointed that the menu changes following our last two visits was very minimal.
With only three dishes to choose from (each course) perhaps a more frequent change to the menu would benefit regular customers.
Arrival was welcoming, given a great seat with views of the harbour, which is always appreciated. Have to mention that today and everyday we have lunched here the temperature within the restaurant is too cold !
Service was mixed, sometimes too loud and not quite sincere or refined during discussions.
However with the quality and taste of the food and a good wine list we would still recommend this venue at every opportunity.
