I booked a 14 day stay in Scotland through a travel agent because I'd never been in the UK before and navigating the many hotel choices was overwhelming. The travel agent used suggestions from Europe Express to book the different hotels we stayed in. Europe express ignored my requirements of needing a king size bed and air conditioning. I don't care where you travel a/c is needed just so the room won't be stuffy.

The Loch Ness Clansman was our third hotel in our journey. The room was very small and it had a full size bed. Third hotel third hotel with a full size bed, thank you Europe Express. (sarcasm) Second hotel without a/c so I went and asked for a fan and they didn't have one to offer. Had to sleep with the windows open and because this is situated a few feet off of A82, the major thoroughfare into Inverness, the traffic was constant all night and very loud. The hotel is old and the walls are thin. My wife and I could hear the noise from the bar which was one floor below us but not directly below us. Again, the windows were open, so we could hear the conversations of everyone who used the deck one floor below us also. Thankfully no one was smoking or it would have been even worse. Food was just okay, inconsistent from day to day. One day the onion rings were cooked perfectly and the next day they were terribly undercooked.

The hotel/motel was more of a bus stop. The owner must have a contract with every tour bus company in Scotland. By 8:00 am every day there numerous tour buses parked in the lot and getting my car out required maneuvering. All of the tour bus passengers were in the lower lobby using the restroom and visiting the gift shop so the commotion around the place is hectic.

There is a lift but it is for handicapped guests only and it only goes from the lower lobby to the second floor. If you're staying on the third floor you'll be lugging your bags all the way up.

On a positive note the place was clean and the service staff were helpful.

I was in Room 5 which faces the loch. Rooms on the back of the hotel facing the mountain may not be as noisy.

Room Tip: If you have to stay here try a room that doesn't face the road and is at the end of the building to avoid the bar noise.

Hotel is about 15 mins drive from Inverness. Small shower and extremely slow running water for the shower. No ironing facilities, no complimentary bottled water. Wifi quite ok. Small carpark and always packed with tour buses as it’s opposite a jetty for Loch Ness cruises. Pls note there’s plenty of cruises Operators around River Ness. Navigating in the carpark is crazy with all the buses. Tried the so called famous Cobb’s restaurant, not so nice. Not recommended. No fan or air conditioner in the room. Room was stuffy and hot. Couldn’t open the windows to sleep as there’s insects flying outside ur window.

Took advantage of the free pick up service as we were on a boat. The driver was very friendly and the service at the clansman was excellent. We had a great meal and the whisky selection was very good.

3 stars not eligble for anymore. Food average nothing spectacular. Nice location, stayed in one of the apartments, busy road was noisy, could have benefited from double glazing. Up early for marathon, therefore breakfast was very limited, some toast would have been nice.

Stayed in a triple room. Room is small. Bathroom is worse. Given a room that was facing a steep slope. Don't feel Safe. Room rate not cheap. Not value for the money. Recommend to stay in Inverness, a nice town just a short drive east,at the edge of the lake.
