You will be zooming through sugarcane field faster than any other drive you have ever taken. For no particular reason, in this island of no-stress and absolute relaxation, Bajans run as fast as their cars let them, through steep and narrow countryside roads which will remind of you of English country in the summer.

The good news is: it will take you no time to get to the sweet and very pleasant SeaU Guesthouse. Once you spot the botanical gardens on your right hand-side, you know you have reached paradise.

The Sea-U Guesthouse is on top of a hill overlooking the Bathsheba bay, land of the surfers.

Uschi built the place in wood and traditional style 7 years ago, and then she planted meadows and hung hammocks in the garden. The sound of the ocean and the Caribbean night crickets will accompany your stay there.

A full home-made breakfast is served in the patio, sheltered from the sun and the occasional tropical rain during the season. Then you can walk down the bay, swim in natural sea-pools, or most likely, embrace your surfboard and ride on top of the bluest waves you will ever sea.

The village is small and cozy and by the end of the day you will probably have been invited by some local to share a glass of rum with friends at the rum shop. There are a few restaurants nearby, a mini-market and zillions of wonderful natural attractions.

Once you go back to your room, with a fully equipped kitchenette, you will enjoy sleeping veiled under a mosquito net and with a very silent fan on the ceiling.

Uschi will help you with arranging car rentals, give you precious tips on neighboring facilities and host you to make you feel as if you were at home, in a paradise hill in Barbados.

We stayed for only three days and cannot get over missing it! Enjoy, you cannot do anything else.

My wife and I have just returned from honeymoon in Barbados. We spent a week at Sea-U guest house before moving down to the south coast for a further week. It was an amazing trip. We are both avid surfers and spent everyday at Parlours and Soup Bowls (both within walking distance). Bathsheba is largely untouched by mass tourism and you really get a feel for how the locals live. If you are looking for an all inclusive package holiday then forget it. But if you want to see how the locals do it with fantastic waves and the friendliest people on the planet then you would have to go a long way to beat Sea-U. I would definitely recommend a visit to anyone. Can't wait to go back! Joel & Sue, Sheffield, England

We had a great time at Sea U. They are very helpful with directions and getting rental cars etc. The property is gorgeous and relaxing and the rooms are exactly what we were looking for. This is the perfect place to get away from everything, we hope to go back soon.

My husband & I spent 9 days at the Sea-U guest house to celebrate our anniversery. We had the most awesome, laidback, caribbean experience! Looooved the staff, the view, the food, listening to the ocean, hearing the frogs sing at nite, the beautiful walks to the nearby beach, watching the surfers & families enjoy the majestic atlantic, the convenient bus stop at the top of the road & meeting fellow guest from all over the world! Everyone got along so well. It was our idea of the perfect neighberhood! Uschi you have a cool place....would love to do what you do! Can't wait to visit again.

My husband and I stayed at the Sea-U for the first 6 nights of our honeymoon, but we probably should have stayed there the entire time. Uschi, the owner of this fabulous place, runs the hotel with a relaxed atmosphere. She and the entire staff are always willing to help. The helped us find good places to go surfing, set up horseback riding, and gave us good ideas for day trips. Our room was amazing! We had our own kitchen which we used everyday. The bathroom was extraordinary with a beautiful open air shower. The windows were open and we had a constant ocean breeze blowing that kept us cool our entire stay. We ate at the restaurant a few times and the food was delicious. The East coast of Barbados is beautiful. Very quiet and tourist free. I have been dreaming of going back ever since we left. Our stay at the Sea-U was truly perfect and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to get away from it all and completely relax and enjoy Barbados in true Bajan style.

I loved the peace and quiet that sea-u could provide. this is not a place for loud parties or loud guests. this is a place to relax and enjoy the non-tourist side of barbados. my days were spent reading a book in a hammock while enjoying a banks. the staff is friendley and helpful. a rental car is recommended to explore the island. the other side of the island is only a 30-40min drive. if you are quiet people who enjoy a relaxed atmosphere.....sea u is for you!

Great little guest house in a stunning location. Great for honeymooners and couples who are looking for a complete retreat from the hussle and bussle of the city. The accommodation is rustic yet clean and airy with lovely darkwood flooring and furniture set off by white bedlinen.

I went with my little sister after a 5 night stay in the south of the island. In contrast, Bathesheba is dead in terms of things to do at night however, there are a few nice resturants in the local area and a car is advisable for getting about. We saw the most spectacular wildlife here (monkeys, birds and plants) and it is a really untouched part of the island favoured by surfers. Bridgetown is an easy 30 minute drive away. The guest house also offers dinner 5 nights a week which we did not have an opportunity to try but the outdoor dining area is picturesque.

The staff are friendly. Ushi (the owner) and Sea Cat are warm and knowledgable. The guest house itself is beautiful and the hill top location allows for a constant breeze.

Only improvements could have been an in room safety deposit box and phone and upgrades on the rooms electrical equipment. Otherwise, this place is great value for money if you conact them directly and offers a personal touch which is largely missing with most hotels in Barbados.
