My wife and I are blessed to have been able to visit some of the finest beach destinations in the world. In fact we live on Kauai, but I would have to rate Cape Santa Maria as one of my top 5. The water is brilliant blue, the sand white and sugary and the accomedations and staff are first rate.
We will definately be going back. Opportunities abound for fishing, and other water sports. Bring bug spray and baby oil for the no see ums, although when we were there neither were a problem due to cool weather.
Beach bungalows are simple, with a small refrig, and coffee maker, and tge two bedroom villas are amazing. Full kitchens, comfortably appointed for those that seek a bit more luxury. Reasonably priced either way. Resort can arrange a wide variety of activities if you are one of those that likes to fit it all in.General Managers Matt, and his wife Morag make themselves available for questions or concerns, and the entire staff are in a word....tremendous!

We will be back!

I've been to Cape Santa Maria numerous times over the last 20 or so years, and I can tell you that if you're looking for a gorgeous, private Bahamian paradise to enjoy a stay, this is it. You'll have an unusually nice private villa on the beach, and the beach is one of the loveliest in the world, if not the loveliest. The waves only gently lap the powder-white sand, the water is transparent, and you can wade out for a hundred yards, never step on a shell, and only be up to your waist. The food is served in the lovely central building, and it's quite exquisite. The service is the extraordinarily friendly behavior you often find in the Bahamian Out Islands. The beach is miles long, and you can stroll it. There are two expert, friendly bonefish guides if you like to fly fish. You can also spin cast. There are miles of flats and when the day and tide are right, you'll see ample bonefish to cast to. You can also go to the cove at one end of the beach and wade. You'll see an occasional bone fish there. Meanwhile, your mate can enjoy accompanying you or lounging at the beach. The resort is Canadian owned, and the prices are surprisingly reasonable. Call the resort or look up Oak Bay Marine. The outfit also owns salmon fishing lodges in Canada. The only tough part is the same thing you face when you visit any of the out islands: the local airlines you must depend on for transportation to and from Nassau or Freeport. The flights are always pleasant, and the departure times from Cape Santa Maria are relatively reliable, but you can find yourself waiting in Nassau or Freeport for an hour or so because your flight is to the resort is delayed. But if the resort wasn't off the beaten path, it wouldn't be the pristine paradise it still is. By the way, you can visit the Columbus monument. Local history has it that Cape Santa Maria is the first place he landed in the New World. Remember the names of his three ships?

Room Tip: You'll be in a villa on the beach. Might want to ask for one about midway between them, so you have privacy with a short walk to dinner.

Looking to get away from it all? The ultimate relaxation with essentially nothing to do but read a good book and roast in the sun then CSM is the place. I brought about 75 pounds of food in freezer bags from SAMs club which was essential because food was either very expensive in the restaurant or too far away to just run in and pick up. The staff is very helpful and always willing to go out their way to make you comfortable. Must visit the blue hole and the diving just a mile off shore was amazing. We rented a van from the resort mid week to sight see and grab groceries. Recommend when flying from Nassau to give plenty of time between flights since the time schedule is just a very rough estimate.
