If you value truly epic sunsets, beaches that don’t seem real with waters that are more turquoise and peaceful than anywhere you will find in the world, delicious food to warm the heart at the start and end of a long day, cocktails to lift the spirits all wrapped up with service that is the Bahamas personified. Your need to stay here.

If you want golf courses, lounge singers, a variety of shaped pools, casino slot machines and neon lights. This is not for you.

Seriously though I realised that some times a place is special because of what it doesn’t have. Needless stuff that gets in the way of what is really important to relax, unwind and reconnect.

Cannot wait to go back.

Cape Santa Maria is simply one of the most amazing places on this earth. We returned after one year for our second visit to the Cape and Long Island and it still has the “wow” factor the second time around. From its mesmerizing hues of crystal clear blue and turquoise waters to play in, to its miles and miles of powdery secluded white sand beaches to explore and discover treasures from the sea, to its welcoming people with an innocence that you no longer find in the world today, you will discover an island where time moves at a different pace and much of its raw beauty remains from when it was first discovered.

At Cape Santa Maria it will not take long before you leave the worries of the real world behind and become one with this beautiful island. Matt and Darby and the rest of the staff at the resort go out of their way and bust their tails to make sure you have the most incredible experience from the minute you arrive. You will truly feel at home in this paradise. Every bungalow and villa at the resort is oceanfront and has a million dollar view, so no need to worry about getting stuck with the “garden view”. The resort offers many activities and the restaurant and bar offer an inviting vibe to interact with other guests or have a romantic dinner with a panoramic view of the Cape.

There is also much beyond the resort to discover on the island, with 160 miles of coastline, coral gardens, tidal flats and creeks, caves, churches, and native Bahamians that are willing to share their island without an expectation for anything in return other than your respect and friendship. Other than the beach at the Cape (which never feels crowded), every beach that we explored was entirely secluded and we felt like explorers discovering new lands.

If you are looking for high-rise luxury rooms with pools and waterparks, casinos and nightclubs, shopping and crowds of people, this is absolutely not the place for you.

If you are looking to leave the hustle and bustle of the world behind and enjoy the natural beauty of an unspoiled paradise – it is well worth the extra effort to make the journey to an out island. Cape Santa Maria will Wow you over and over again!

We enjoyed every minute of our Cape Santa Maria experience. The beach & water were the prettiest we've ever seen. Our family with children (13 & 17) had a great time. The free kayaks & paddle boards were awesome. The restaurant had wonderful food at every meal & offered great options for the family. I would recommend CSM as a destination to anyone. It truly is paradise!

I would LOVE to give this place 5 stars, and so much of it was wonderful. The beach, especially, was one of the best we've ever seen. The water was warm, calm, and gorgeous, and at low tide, we could walk out and out and still be waist-high. And the sand was so soft! However, one of the reasons we chose the Cape was that we wanted a very quiet place. It's not the fault of the resort, but there were so many little and middle-school-aged kids there, and some parents who just let the kids yell and scream all day. Not the fault of the resort, and maybe we should just choose an adults-only resort next time - but I was told by both the owner and friends that it was going to be really quiet, and that's why I chose it. I could also have chosen a bungalow far away from the dining area, which would definitely have been more quiet. The food, too, is just fair, with some dishes being not great at all, and some being very good. Breakfasts are good. I would advise not getting the meal plan because you might want to go into town for groceries (you are supplied with a fridge in your room), and there are a couple of cute restaurants nearby. On the plus side, Cape Santa Maria offers a snorkeling adventure which we loved, and there are fishing and boating trips that looked excellent as well. The staff is very good about taking care of these arrangements and reminding you where you have to be and when. Matt, the owner, and the women at the front desk were especially warm and welcoming. The question for us is, will we return to this place? There are some minuses, but that beach! Oh, it's so awesome!

This is a gem of a place on a massive gem of a beach. Beautiful well-maintained buildings and rooms. Great interactions with Matt and Darby (the managers), who obviously do a lot to keep everything running smoothly.
