Like many others who live in the area, we had stopped going to La Traverse when it seemed to be going down hill. Then it re-opened, and I tried it for lunch yesterday. It's a casual spot, certainly not for fine dining, but pleasant, clean and well run. I was alone, and the server quickly removed the second place setting from my table, brought over the menus (printed in both French and quite good English), and quickly served the kir I ordered. Then I was amazed to find that I would receive an amuse bouche -- usually found only at fine-dining places. I had a burger and fries, served with a nice arugula salad, and was very pleased. Total bill, with the kir and two glasses of rose, was just under 25 euros. Happiness!

We've been here a few times over the last 10 years but haven't been for the last four years.

The 'new' owners have transformed the place. Food, service and overall atmosphere are great. We had the set menu which was lovely - all the classics you'd expect but with a little bit of extra thought and a twist.

Owners/staff are friendly and professional and we'll be back!

Great value for money set menu. Fabulous food and great service! We'll be back! Nice to see this old haunt of ours with a new team since we last visited some years ago. A la carte menu looked very good too, although the portions we saw looked quite big and for us it would mean just two courses rather than one.

We were staying a few miles out of town but saw this on trip advisor. We weren't disappointed. Superb food and superb service. English menus were available. Very accommodating of vegetarians. Make sure you leave space for a dessert! Not cheap but worth it.

We really enjoyed our evening meal at La Traversee. On arriving, we were seated promptly and our menus brought to us.

We opted for the €23 set menu (3 courses) , whilst the children had the menu enfant at €12, consisting of nuggets and chips, and an extensive selection of desserts. There were three choices of starter, main and many choices for dessert.

I chose a tarte of guacamole and prawns whilst my husband had a tomato and mozzarella salad to start. To follow, we had a lovely fillet of white fish with rice and tomatoes, and duck breast with potatoes and mushroom sauce. For dessert, we chose a vanilla millefeulle and a tarte au citron.

The staff were very friendly and efficient and helped when my French failed with the menu. The portions were generous, well cooked and presented and we all left feeling full and happy.

Highly recommended.
