If you are staying in and around Leicester I would urge you to try this small comfortable hotel rather than the chain hotels. A lot more personality and extremely accommodating staff with great quality home cooked food.
We booked six rooms across the range from singles to their Jacuzzi suite, all were comfortable with good quality beds.
The bar downstairs was well stocked and was a welcome addition you sometimes don't get in the multi-nationals. We were tempted to travel into Leicester for a meal as we are not particularly fans of hotel restaurants, normally the food is only so so, but a look at the menu and all nine of us were persuaded to eat in.
Probably the best decision of the whole weekend!
We all had three courses so can highly recommend at least three quarters of the menu they offer, and I have no doubt that the one's we didn't consume would be just as excellent. I, along with a couple of others, had the steak. I was offered a steak knife but did not need to use it as the steak was tender and one of the best I have ever tasted. My eight dinning companions completely agree.
What made this hotel exceptional, apart from the comfortable rooms and superb quality food, was the staff - truly some of the most friendly and accommodating people you would wish to meet, who went out of their way to meet the needs of their guests.
High praise from some very discerning guests - but fully justified!
Well done Kirkby House, we will stay again on our next Walking Football Tour.
