“Lovely, well appointed gite in good location.”
Reviewed June 19, 2017 for a stay in May 2017

Really nicely fitted out gite - clean, cool, uncluttered with good kitchen and bathroom. Pool was warm and secluded and we nearly always had it to ourselves. Communal toy store was an added bonus for our children - the whole site was pretty child friendly. The owner / manager lives on site and was really friendly and helpful.

Not a huge amount going on in the village itself (Ferrals) although there is a good bakery within walking distance. It's a great base though for exploring the area.

Thank you for the review . Glad you enjoyed it. Did you manage to get to either of our two restaurants in the village? This week Ferrals is making up for its quieter weeks by holding its annual Fete de la Musique extravaganza! Book this week next year! You will see a complete difference!

“A little piece of paradise”
Reviewed May 22, 2017 for a stay in May 2017

My wife and I stayed in this beautiful Maison with our one year old son. Anyone travelling with a child knows it can make for weary work, but Honor's warm welcome to a wonderful part of France made the journey well worth while.

Honor was always on hand to help with anything and everything we could have wanted. The location of the gite was ideal to walk into the friendly local village, or drive to the nearby beautiful villages. There was more to do then we could fit into a week (even more reason to return!)

Everything you could want was nearby and this made for one of the most relaxing holidays we've had (and with a one year old. . . that's a great achievement!).

“It couldn't have been more perfect”
Reviewed April 7, 2017 for a stay in April 2017

THINGS I LOVED ABOUT OUR STAY HERE

Communication ahead of our trip was superb. From booking our stay to all our questions before we arrived, Honor always replied almost immediately.

Easy to find and only half an hour from Carcasonne airport (and also easily accessible from Perpignan, Beziers or Toulouse

Warm welcome from Honor, Holly and Bob the gorgeous dog.

Honor was always on hand to offer advice, book a restaurant, or just check we'd had a good day, but equally didn't make us feel we were clocking in or out

Gite was spotlessly clean and decorated with lots of French finds

Excellent Wi-Fi

All the amenities in the gite you need including ice cube trays, washing machine, barbecue, TV, stacks of board games, piles of books etc.

Pool with sun loungers

THINGS I DIDN'T LIKE ABOUT OUR STAY HERE

It couldn't be forever

******

We had the most amazing week. Honor couldn't have been a more perfect host. There is a boulangerie within walking distance and a large supermarket a ten minute drive away (which is open until 8pm and is en route from the airport so you can stop on your way to get essentials). There are restaurants within walking distance, in the village, or just a five minute drive away. If you mention you are thinking of going to any of them, Honor is happy to book on your behalf (which was great as we then discovered one we were planning visiting was actually closed for a private party but Honor had a list of alternatives for us).

The gite is in the perfect location for exploring Carcasonne, Narbonne, the coast, you can even nip over to Spain in under two hours or for a day trip to any one of the local vineyards or medieval villages like Lagrasse.

This was our first trip here, but already we are talking about our next and whether we can come out again this summer.

“Lovely place - fantastic host”
Reviewed December 14, 2016 for a stay in September 2016

We visited Manson De La Roche in early September and although unlucky with the weather, we had a great time. The Gite was as good as it looks in the photo and has everything you would need. We travelled with a baby and 2 year old and Honor couldn't have done more for us. Our eldest loved the well stocked playroom and Honor had everything else you'd need for travelling with a baby.

“A magical place to relax and unwind ”

We had a wonderful stay at 'Maison de la Roche' during half term. An added bonus that the charming owner Honor was English, it was a very comfortable and relaxing base to explore the area.

Both my husband and I had an invigorating sports massage and a wine tasting. The children enjoyed the pool and we had spectacular family days out cycling around (still pretty warm) and visiting a castle in the clouds.

“A wonderful place to stay in the South of France”
Reviewed October 20, 2016 for a stay in October 2016

We stayed for 4 nights in one of the beautiful gites at Maison de la Roche in the village of Ferrals-les-Corbieres in southwestern France. Before we arrived Honor, the owner, contacted us several times with details of the place and how to get there and where to go for shopping etc. She greeted us warmly when we arrived made us very welcome and nothing was too much trouble for her.

The gite itself was large and roomy and very comfortable with all mod cons. The kitchen had modern appliances and the TV had British programmes which was ideal for us. There was also wifi which was fast and reliable. The beds were very comfortable and the whole place was immaculately presented and very clean.

This is an ideal place for visiting many sights of interest in the area including, of course, Carcassonne which we particularly enjoyed and found it not very crowded and extremely interesting. We also were thrilled to see hundreds of pink flamingos in the etangs along the Mediterranean coast not far from where we were staying. This is not a touristy area as such and so we could enjoy everything in a more leisurely and unhurried way.

One evening Honor laid on a wine-tasting and tapas event for us and this was so good. We learned a great deal from the knowledgeable organiser who gave us many local Languedoc-Roussillon wines to sample.

Although there were full cooking facilities in our git, we never got around to using the cooker or oven because we found so many wonderful French restaurants and cafes with fantastic menus at reasonable prices. Honor gave us a great deal of information about local restaurants.

We would thoroughly recommend Maison de la Roche for its ideal situation, wonderful home from home comforts and the ease of travelling there from the UK. We went from Bristol to Beziers which was cheap and it was an easy drive to get to Maison de la Roche.

“Wonderful Maison de la Roche”
Reviewed October 17, 2016 for a stay in October 2016

We stayed at Maison de la Roche in early October 2016.
Upon our arrival, we were greeted by Honor, who was the perfect host & a mine of information on the local area & beyond.
The gite was well appointed & perfect for our week long stay.
We were thrilled to be invited to join Honor & friends at the village fete on the evening of our arrival and although tired from our long drive, we enjoyed every minute & were made to feel very welcome.
Maison de la Roche is only a few minutes from the A61 motorway, but is very quiet & private, making the perfect base for our holiday in the region.
We visited Carcassonne, Narbonne & Collioure during our stay, we are also quite keen bird watchers & enjoyed the wildlife of the area.
It was a delight to watch a Kingfisher on the river as we walked to the village bolangerie for essential supplies.
Watching the pink Flamingoes at nearby Gruissan was also another special trip.
Maison de la Roche is a wonderful base for couples & families looking for luxury accomadation in the heart of the Aude area.
We will certainly return.
Many thanks to Honor for our brilliant holiday, not forgetting Bob, the dog, who was always there to greet us on our return each day.
We would not hesitate to recommend Maison de la Roche to family & friends.
