“Harbour Cottage”
Reviewed June 5, 2013 for a stay in May 2013

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at harbour cottage. The location is excellent with a patio directly overlooking the harbour so there were always interesting views, especially at sunset. The cottage itself was very clean and comfortable, with a particularly generous feature being a wood burning stove with a plentiful supply of wood. the wireless internet was fast and reliable, a really useful holiday addition. We went on many excellent walks in the area, perhps the best of which was Crovie and Troup Head to see the gannet colony. We would use this cottage again.

“Cosy Cottage on Harbour Front with wonderful views”
Reviewed May 17, 2013 for a stay in May 2013

Amazing harbour cottage beautifully decorated throughout. All the facilities you need and more, the kids were delighted to see a range of good quality games, toys and books all provided and there is a dishwasher/washing machine as well, always handy with kids. The accommodation is warm and comfortable and the welcome basket provided was brilliant, it was a great holiday.

The seating area in the rear garden is 4m from the boats sitting in the harbour (fully enclosed garden though so kids are safe) and the sun sets just to the west as you sit (if your lucky enough with the weather) drinking wine. The harbour wall keeps the wind at bay and it is really peaceful.

Within a few minutes there are several bays for walking, and the towns of Cullen/Buckie are are only a few minutes away by car. There was even a mobile Fish and Chip shop which parks at the harbour entrance (2min away) on a Thursday night. Brilliant.

Contact was also great with plenty of updates etc and there is wifi access.

Highly Recommend.

“Peace, perfect peace!!!!”
Reviewed May 13, 2013 for a stay in May 2013

Had a lovely week at Findochty. Cottage lived up to expectations. Such a lovely relaxing holiday. Local pub was very friendly and I think my husband made it his second home! Did a few trips locally and visited Speyislay Distillery (the oldest). Weather was extremely kind to us and had sunshine every day, even if a bit blustery!

“Loved it.”
Reviewed April 28, 2013 for a stay in April 2013

Harbour Cottage for me and my sisters was just perfect. On arrival with parking right outside the cottage we were greeted by the welcoming owners Ian and Ishbel who showed us around. (Sorry we were a bit late) The grocery pack was plentiful and included wine... nice touch....
The Lounge and Dining Room look onto (Commercial Street) to the fishermen’s cottages across the road which are all well kept and pleasing to look at, the wood burning stove we didn't use as it was not needed, so cannot comment on that.
The Kitchen had the best view of the lovely small harbour, (more used for pleasure now) there was everything in there, you do have to bring salt, washing up liquid, tea towels etc. it’s like a home from home.
The Utility room houses the boiler and washing machine (maybe you need to bring washing powder)
The Ground Floor single bedroom with window overlooking the harbour area was a must for my sister who finds it easier to be on ground level, it has no wardrobe or mirror so we brought an over the door hanging rail which sufficed and borrowed mirror from upstairs. The telephone is in this room which we used a couple of times (free at certain times.) or a donation for usage. The mobile signal is not good in this area. There are a couple of steps up to the kitchen/utility and bathroom but that was fine, bath with shower over… good shower with plenty hot water maybe a hook behind the door would be good.
Upstairs bedrooms, big with very comfy beds. Could sleep 5, no toilet upstairs.
Patio… We did manage to sit out on the spacious Patio when the sun came out, we could have stayed there forever, (well maybe not when the sandstorms coming from the fields arrived, never seen anything like it, a spectacle to behold, I do believe that it had never been like that before. Everyone that passed by had a smile and hello, all very friendly, there is no access to harbour road from patio but it is only a short walk around the houses. The Admiral pub which serves really nice food is a short walk, it is best to book.
There is also a shop nearby. Uphill.
On a walk around the harbour and lower part of village you will discover little sandy bays and rocks to scramble over.

I fell in love with this little fishing village Findochty or Finichty (Gaelic) a few years ago when my sister took me down there.. I cannot praise this cottage or little fishing village enough, The price varies, I wish I owned the cottage. thank you for a lovely stay.

“Fantastic cottage, great view of harbour, well set up, care package very welcome especially wine!”
Reviewed April 21, 2013 for a stay in July 2012

Harbour cottage is set on a pretty little traditional Scottish harbour. The owners provide a great welcome pack for visitors and meet you at the cottage to show you amenities. The kids had a 2 bed room, the house includes plenty of books and games for all ages. The cottage has a great patio overlooking the harbour, there are beaches with rock pools for the kids. All in all the cottage was wonderful for our family and we would recommend it for anyone wanting a quiet getaway in a very traditional part of Scotland with access to loch ness, seals, dolphins and some stunning countryside. We can't rate the owners or the cottage highly enough, and having rented properties in many places this was simply the best of them all.

“Harbour Cottage aptly named”
Reviewed April 14, 2013 for a stay in April 2013

This was my third visit to Harbour cottage a comfortable, cosy clean cottage in the small fishing village of Findochty. An ideal location for visiting the Moray coast area. A warm welcome awaits from Ian and Ishbel as well as a small food starter pack which was appreciated. The children in our party liked the village, exploring the rock pools, and walking along to Strathlene looking out for dolphins and seals. Spey Bay, the Aquarium at Macduff, Bowl 2000 Elgin worth a visit. Good ice cream and fish and chips in Cullen. Boyndie Visitor Centre do good lunches. If the weather is good you can sit outside and enjoy the harbour and some lovely sunsets.

“Lovely cottage, fabulous view, lovely place”
Reviewed March 16, 2013 for a stay in March 2013

We are biased as this is our very favourite part of Scotland, the north east coast is so beautiful made so much better when your accommodation is of a high standard. Harbour Cottage is warm, welcoming and comfortable - the wood burning stove a real feature. The cottage is well appointed with all the creature comforts. The village of Findochty is perfectly placed for all tastes, shopping in Aberdeen (my favourite city) and Inverness and a number of small villages close by with local produce, try Huntly market the first Saturday in the month. Alternatively outdoors for walking and dolphin watching the choice is amazing. Spey Bay worth visiting for the dolphin centre. We will be back at some point as we are walking the Speyside Kiltwalk on 1st September all 26 miles of it!
