A lovely, clean cottage in wonderful surroundings. Straiton is a lovely welcoming village, ideally situated for visiting the local area. The cottage itself has all the appliances required for your stay. A beautiful open fire, which we lit just to look at. Would definitely stay here again.

Thank you for your kind words. We rent cottages ourselves and try to equip our cottage with all the things we would use on holiday.

“Cosy cottage Valentine break”
Reviewed February 21, 2016 for a stay in February 2016

Holly Tree Cottage is a lovely, comfortable and well appointed cottage in a beautiful part of Scotland. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen had everything that we needed and the open fire added a touch of romance! There was plenty of wood for the fire and even if we didn't use it, the cottage was always nice and warm and there was plenty of hot water.
There were lots of books, pamflets and guides in the cottage which gave you lots of ideas of what to do during your stay. The surrounding area is lovely and there a lots of great walks which start in Straiton village itself.
The local shop sells the essentials and there are lots of local farm shops which sell great produce.
The owner Bea, was very quick to respond to questions and requests and very accomodating, which made our stay very comfortable.
All in all, we had a great long weekend in Holly Tree Cottage and I would highly recommend it for couples and families alike.

“Beautiful cottage and such friendly and helpful owners”
Reviewed November 24, 2015 for a stay in November 2015

Our stay here over the weekend was truly wonderful. The cottage was a delight to stay in - warm, clean and homey with all the amenities we needed. The village of Straiton and surrounding countryside was quiet and peaceful with some beautiful walks and scenery. We felt very welcomed by the owner Bea and all her kind help and advice really made our stay here relaxed and that bit more enjoyable. We will definitely be back again!

“Great Holiday. Misleading advert”

Hard to find Cottage. No one knew of it, Rang Owners and told it is 18 Main Street. Main Street is a very busy Street. 18 Main St, is in the middle of twenty terraced dwellings with a road behind it for the residents to garage thier cars. The owners live in the timber cabin behind the patio furniture. I felt I had to point out how misleading the advert is. But the holiday was great. The people very friendly and helpful, sceanery brilliant and Lock Doon wonderful. You must climb to the Monument.

Glad you enjoyed your holiday and I'm sorry you feel the description on Scottish Cottages website was misleading. There has been an increase in traffic recently due to timber extraction in the forest. We do use the wooden cabin but usually stay away when we have guests. Loch Doon is spectacular and watching the Ospreys on the nest with their two chicks is a special treat.

Thanks to Bea and her husband who made us very welcome with all the home from home amenities in this rural and quaint village. We will cherish the Carrick book you gave us as a memory of our stay. Lots to do in the area including plenty of walking, visits to the beach, Robert Burns Museum (my wife wanted to learn more about her ancestor) and in reach for the Glasgow Science Centre which the children loved - particularly good on a rainy day!

The walks around this area are excellent. I particularly like Dalcairney Falls near Dalmellington which are lovely and a great spot for a picnic. We have a small selection of books to assist visitors with family history research and hope you found these useful.

We had a fantastic 5 night stay at Holly Tree Cottage. The cottage its self was very well maintained, exceptionally clean and had everything you could wish for. The owner Bea very friendly and helpful. Lots of info about the area and places to visit. The villiage was also lovely. Nice park for the kids.
