We visited here in June 2017 to celebrate a 30th birthday, our party ranged from 2 - 62 and everyone had a wonderful time.
Easily located on the outskirts of a pretty village, the accommodation is set in large, beautiful grounds with a heated, spotlessly clean swimming pool and all manner of entertainment in the attached barn and garden - bikes, pingpong, darts, pool, swings etc, all free to use.
The interior is spacious with attractive French styling. The kitchen was large and v well equipped with plenty of space, There are 5 large comfortable bedrooms with individual styles, the best being the one in the attic which had its own en-suite.
The owners, Chris and Sue, were unfailingly helpful and friendly but also unobtrusive.
You do need a car as there is only 1 restaurant in the village (see separate review) and the nearest shops are at least 5km away. In early June, we did find it difficult finding local restaurants open in the evening. Therefore we made good use of the excellent kitchen facilities and sat out on the patio at the long table
The beaches of the north coast are an easy 1 hour drive as is Dinan and Carnac on the south coast a little farther.
This is a brilliant holiday house, which we would highly recommend. Thanks to Sue and Chris for all their hard work and for going the extra mile to make this a wonderful holiday.
Wonderful house and facilities. Heated Pool was a big hit. The owners Chris and Sue are perfect hosts, discretely absent until needed, and then as helpful as you could wish. Amazingly well equipped: loads of kids games, dvds and other wet-weather stuff (not needed fortunately!). Comfortable beds, huge garden with everything you could ask for. Thanks for a wonderful week!
We stayed here with our 2 kids (5 & 2£ and have to say it's the best place we've stayed in France. Loads for the kids to do, lovely warm pool and accommodation is lovely. The Gite had everything we could want (and more!).
From the minute we arrived we were extremely well looked after by our hosts Chris and Sue. The accommodation and the facilities were absolutely perfect ranging from the cleanliness of the house to the facilities for the children.
We basically wanted for nothing even the children had facilities they have never had on ANY previous holiday. There were bicycles for adults and children, sit on toys for the younger ones and a fabulous swimming pool (heated) which was used often. A barbecue and outside table and chairs were ideal and we ate most of our meals there.
The land available for the children to play on was massive with a trampoline, slide, climbing frame and swings. Even goal posts for football.
All in all a great place for a holiday.
Set in the midst of beautifully kept country villages, this gorgeous family friendly house with superbly kept grounds is an immaculate, well equipped and very spacious venue. We were a family of 11, including a baby and 2 toddlers and appreciated all the different spaces so that even on rainy days there was somewhere for the children to have fun. They loved the barn with its equipment for rainy days including baby tractors, push along toys and the private vast open space where toddlers could play safely on child-sized equipment or run about. The adults loved the spacious, super-clean bedrooms and bathrooms and downstairs living rooms where we could all sit in comfort to relax or eat and our own outdoor seating area for barbecues and leisurely drinks after a game of swing ball or table tennis or a swim in the well kept swimming pool. The on- site owners were ever helpful, tireless and full of useful tips and had made a special effort to welcome our diverse group with a great array of baby equipment, cots, toys and had collected mini picnic chairs and play things for the little ones in our space. We enjoyed visiting nearby towns and the lake a few miles away but the Manoir had plenty of variety to keep us all happy. It wasn't easy to find a venue for a 3 generations holiday to suit us all but this was a great choice! Many thanks to the Beresfords for providing us with the best equipped, cleanest and best maintained holiday home we've ever stayed in and such a warm but discreet welcome.
Even before we arrived, I felt that our holiday would be a success as the owners of this beautifully renovated project offered to provide equipment for the children which we hadn't even expected! We stayed at both Le Manior and Le Grange during our two weeks there and both were absolutely perfect in décor, cleanliness and standard of equipment. Having Sue and Chris nearby for advice meant that we found the right places to visit and to eat out. The pool was spotless and warm and the courtyard an idyllic, safe and practical play area for the children - from tractors and diggers to prams and dolls - all there for the children to use. The large range of bikes for guests (free) use were incredible and catered for all; from adult trikes / bikes with toddlers seats attached (helmets included) to even a tandem bike - again all in pristine condition and ready to go. The gardens have been lovingly laid out and are a delightful and peaceful haven in which to eat and play - or just read. The owner's hard work and attention to detail is evident in all you see at this oasis of tranquillity. Thank you both for your kindness and hospitality.
We stayed at La Grange, the converted barn at Le Manoir de Bolu. As a family of 3 (with a 10 year old daughter) we cannot recommend this accommodation highly enough. It really is the gold star for places of this kind. The attention to detail and level of comfort is exceptional. Whether you have one child or half a dozen, there is so much to keep them entertained. The pool is beautiful, a great temperature and a good size for a decent swim. Our daughter loved the trampoline, table tennis and table football but for younger children there are loads of mini tractors, prams and play equipment on hand. There are numerous bikes to assist in exploring the area and the adjacent village is pretty and definitely worth a visit. The beaches in the area are fabulous and make for a super day out. We've also been to a zoo, aquarium and lots of day trips here and there. I would have no hesitation in recommending this as a perfect base for a memorable stay in Brittany.
