“Lovely Resort”

Was pleasantly surprised with this Hotel. I didnt do alot of research so wasnt sure what to expect. This is a new hotel, the staff are exceptional the maitre d at breakfast was brilliant. The room we had although it didnt have a view it was clean large and very tasteful decor. It did have a big outside area half under cover so that was nice to sit out and have a drink. The pool is a not that big, but certainly big enough for relaxing around a hopping in for a refreshing dip. Everything you need is just out side, from street food, restaurants, massage and shopping. Not that we were interested but Mcdonalds and starbucks are also below the hotel.
I would definately stay here again.

Room Tip: Try and get a room with a view as its breath taking

We stayed at the hotel for 8 nights in April. We found the welcome upon arrival to be most pleasant - we were asked to take a seat on the sofa's, and were quickly delivered a cold flannel and drink whilst we were checked in. We were walked down to our room by the young lady who checked us in - with the luggage coming shortly after by the bell boys. We were in a large room that over looked the Cliff. The rooms are spacious and have everything that you may need, in room safe, slippers, dressing gowns, matts for the beach plus a beach bag. The shower room was large.
At the time we stayed there was a 30% discount on the cost of local beers between 4-7pm. The pool is large and whilst we were there plenty of sunbeds. Whilst I know others have said it could get busy (this is maybe the time we were there - it is getting into the quiet season).
Breakfast is served between 7am until 10am - the staff were friendly and helpful. There is a good range of food including cereals, fruits, continental items, and then traditional Asian breakfast items.
You are located well- it takes only a few minutes to get onto one of the main streets - there are plenty of restaurants to eat in plus the street stalls that are very popular.
There are two computers in the foyer that you can use free of charge - there is a sign saying you are limited to 15 minutes if others are waiting to use them too which seems a far policy.

Location - Excellent !! Next to 24hours macdonalds, street stalls available right in front of hotel as well...

Check in/Check out - Reached the hotel at 12pm, waited 30mins for 1 room, and another hour for the 2nd room... Not sure about check out as we left for breakfast after leaving our keys and luggage at the lobby... Paid everything during check in....

Rooms - I've requested for a quiet room but i was given a room next to the lift. Not very happy with it as i know i'll be quite affected by the noise created by groups of people going to their respective rooms.... 3208 was my room, facing beautiful cliffs but just next to the lift....

Spacious. Apart from a king size bed, there's a small sofa like bed available as well... There are traces of dead insects/flies on the walls of the room and inside the bathroom. Should leave no traces of it by cleaning them away thoroughly.

Some may feel it's noisy at night as you can definitely hear toads croaks, crickets chirps coming from the forest behind the hotel even when the doors are closed... I keep the fan on at night to minimize those sounds and it does feel a bit different to fall asleep under sounds of nature.... Quite a nice experience...... Hate it when guests talk loudly when passing my room though...

Others - Breakfast was so so.... No praises nor negative comments.... Staffs are friendly and very helpful... Paid only TB150 for in room internet access (4D3N). Paid about SGD650 for 2 superior cliff double from booking.com....

Very thoughtful as they provide slippers, beach mat and umbrellas in the room.

Visited March 2012, had orginally booked 6 nights however our travel plans changed and we requested we come 2 nights early. Staff arranged this for us and all though it was much more expensive than our nights we had prebooked, I had expected this due to the change over in month. going from high to mid season.
Pros
The staff at this hotel, especially the reception staff are AMAZING, cannot do enough to help or assist.
The pool is gorgeous, clean and sunbeds extremly comfortable. I was expecting to have difficulty getting a bed from some of the posts, but some days it was deserted!
Location is superb, plenty of shops, laundry, resturants and bars around. A 10 min stroll to the beach but plenty to see on the way.
Bathtub on the balcony-nice touch but didnt use it

Cons
Not many to be honest but the one thing that really put us off was the bathroom. Nice and modern however the drain in the shower was very slow at draining the water away, to the point you have to be quick or it starts overflowing to the bathroom. We did report this to reception however from other posts I see this is a common problem.
Also a "smell" once shower had been used from the drains. Not a sewerage smell but an unpleasent smell.

This said, I felt the hotel was nice enough and extremly comfortable and i would recomend it to others if going, especially in low season as can be a great price.
We paid £72 per night for our nights in march and £45 for our nights in april.

Room Tip: Cliff veiws are slightly back from main strip so quieter. There are bars across the road, but they a...

We just finished a family vacation in Thailand, I'll go over all the places we visited. First up was Ao Nang, we stayed at the Cliff Beach, the location was perfect (absolute center of town, less than 5 minutes walk to the beach) and the views were superb (the resort is on an incline, great views) we booked it through andaman sky adventures and got a fourth night for free, which made it a very good deal financially speaking as well. recommended

Room Tip: ask for a mountain facing room

Great place to stay in. Staff were extremely nice. Beautiful view from the room. Well located. Seemed like we were staying in a really fancy luxurious property. The best part was that everything important in Krabi was hardly a 5 min walk away. In the end would like to say that it was one of the best properties in thailand...

Have just returned from an excellent 6 night stay at the Aonang Cliff Beach Resort. When booking we were a bit worried about a couple of things - first that the pool area was small and there didn't seem to be many loungers, and second that the hotel was built on top of McDonalds and even in some of the hotel's own marketing shots some of the balconies have the golden arches literally metres away! As it turns out we needn't have worried about either of these things. The pool area was deserted most of the time and there was never even the possibility of not being able to get a lounger to use - there are about 30 in total and I'd say there were never any more than about 10 in use. As for the golden arches, the hotel is essentially in 2 parts - there is an older part which is located very close to the the busy main street and is built on top of the shops below - McDonalds, Starbucks and a pizza restaurant. If you book a superior or deluxe room, then I think you would be staying in this part. If you book a Superior Cliff Seaview room then you are staying in the newer part of the hotel which is built up on the hill and well away from the main street with excellent views - we were in this type of room.

The room itself was perhaps let down a little by the decor...it was quite bland and seemed to be missing some of the colour of the hotel's marketing photos. However it was very clean, modern and well serviced. Beds were very comfortable indeed. One thing that we thought was a little disappointing was the balcony...as you can see from the photos there was an outdoor bath tub and a sun lounger, but no other seating. I think the spa is a bit gimmicky and the balcony could be far better used with a couple of comfy chairs or day bed than the spa...BUT, having said that I did find myself jumping into a cool spa on a few occasions to escape the heat of the day, so perhaps they're not such a bad thing after all!

Breakfast at the hotel was very good if not up to 5* standard. Each day there was a choice of cereals, pastries, croissants, bread, toast, fresh fruit, fried eggs, eggs cooked to order, juices, western cooked breakfast items and around 5 thai dishes - the thai options were generally delicious. The chef obviously took a lot of pride in the food on offer and was often floating around the buffet area offering suggestions and recommendations. After one day my partner commented that the bacon was cold, every day he spotted us he brought fresh hot bacon for over!

We didn't eat any other meals at the hotel. Unfortunately the only night we weren't staying was a Friday night when the hotel runs a Thai buffet for 350B - that seems like great value for that kind of thing in a hotel and based on the thai options at breakfast I'd think it would be pretty good. For drinks there is a happy hour daily from 1600-1900 with buy one get one free cocktails (so approx 100B each) or 30% of local beers.

Location wise the hotel is around 5 minutes walk from the seafront and beach. There are several popular restaurants within just a couple of minutes. Obviously Aonang is quite well developed and has the usual fast food restaurants and 7-11s you'll find in all touristy thai places. The beach at Aonang is just OK, at high tide it is very narrow but still generally ok to find a shady spot. Obviously the knockout beaches are a short boat ride away at Railay and Phranang.

All in all we really enjoyed our stay at the Aonang Cliff Beach Resort and would love to stay again! Just a note that some of the photos and reviews for this hotel on tripadvisor appear to be for completely different hotels...it can be confusing in Aonang because there are a few similar sounding 'Cliff' resorts.

Room Tip: Go for a superior cliff seaview room to be away from the noise of the main street and enjoy the view...
