After boats and airplanes, a bridge is the next means of accessing an island, short of a long cold swim. You do not have to have to be an engineer to appreciate its beauty, but it will help in understanding its curves.

If you are a white-knuckle driver crossing long or high bridges, there is a very nice welcome center on the PEI side where you can relax and calm your nerves. Out front, is concrete section similar to those from which the bridge is constructed. It and the information display with video will give you a better understanding of the bridge construction.

The toll is a noticeably CAD46 on the return trip only back to New Brunswick. Major credit cards are accepted. Bridges are expensive to maintain and I feel safety out-weighs the cost of the toll.

The weather was very nice during of our two trips across it, but I’ve read there may be restrictions during severe weather. It certainly doesn’t hurt to check in advance, if the weather is bad.

This bridge really is a marvel. I crossed and stopped to view it from the PEI side. It took about 15 minutes to cross (there was a small stop for construction on the bridge) and yes, you do have to pay 47$ to return to New Brunswick. While crossing you really can't view much, so it's best to view from either NB or PEI if you're wanting photos.

Went for a drive to the bridge but sadly did not go over it. Last time I was here they were in the process of building it. Its an amazing bridge and I will be going over it on my next visit.

What a super impressive structure. A bit intimidating when you drive up to the bridge but super impressive once you are on it. Definitely an Engineering marvel. Be prepared to pay a hefty toll on the way back though ($47.00) but that’s OK...the ride is worth it.

Incredible piece of engineering and construction makes crossing back and forth a piece of cake, I'm sure most don't even give it a second thought.
It takes about 10 or 15 mins, you do get some great views if your not stuck behind a transport truck.
It is free going to PEI, but you have to pay coming back. I think the same is true for the ferry, you only pay to leave the island.
Highly recommended!
