Samana Santa is a huge celebration here in the Baja sur. Everyone goes to the beach with family. Not just this beach, all beaches were packed. We got all the way there from San Jose del Cabo (2hr+ drive) and couldn’t even get to the beach it was so busy. Definitely bad timing for us.

This place is beautiful. We were luck enough to visit when it wasn’t too crowded . The second time we went there was not parking so we left and stopped by a beach closer to La Paz but no were near as nice.

We visited Balandra Beach in the middle of the day. It is just as pictured - shallow water, nice beach, beautiful. BUT be forwarned: there are no toilets, no wind, no waves, no shells for beachcombers, & if you aren't lucky enough to snag a spot under an umbrella, it is just too hot. So we relocated to Telecote Beach: food, toilets, wind, waves & plenty of shells. Balandra would be fun for families with toddlers, but not for us.

Previous posters have summed it up quite well... Playa Balandra is a beautiful place. The various hues of blue water against a backdrop of desert mountains is stunning.

Amazing beach ideal for families. You can walk forever and before the water level reaches your waist. Calm water, beautiful beach!
