Villa Santa Cruz is up a dirt road a few miles north of Todos Santos. Never been to Todos Santos and being on this dirt road, you really don't know what to expect, even when you pull up to the gate. Once you get onto the property and drive up to the villa past the rows of agave, it's is amazing! The traditional Rustic Mexico look inside and out. The artisan mexico decor, the views, the colors, the landscape, the pool, everything about it was perfect. I got to hang out there on and off for a few days for a on site wedding (which was hard not to be beautiful with the perfect location). Seriously a place to add to your bucket list, need to stay there at least once (or more) in your life.

Villa Santa Cruz is more than a beautiful place to stay, it is all that you would want in a special home away from home. The Villa itself is an architectural delight, perfectly placed on the beach with seclusion, an expansive pool, and grounds that make you feel like wandering. A recent wedding experienced there was fantastic, with the owners pulling out all the stops to provide caring and impeccable service.

Me and my 21 year old daughter were searching for a good place to stay in Todos Santos, Baja for a 7 day vacation, and after much research settled on the Villa, as the perfect place (Baja.com was a great help with this, and with all our booking, etc.). We have never been to Cabo, let alone Todos, but had heard from friends it was a great place to vacation, but no one we knew could really recommend somewhere outside of town, on the water, quiet if we wanted, but also close enough that we could go to town whenever we wanted to. I can say without reservation that this was the best vacation, in the most magical place, I have ever experienced. the hotel, pool, grounds, adjacent beach, pool, personnel, ambience, FOOD and Tequila were by far the best I have ever had the pleasure to experience. Matt and Jessica, et. al, went far beyond what we could ever have expected in every sense of the word. The Villa is beautifully appointed in rich mexican colors, textures, aromas and flavors, and while it has all the modern comforts it looks like it has been there for decades and decades. We stayed a full week, had the villa to ourselves for a portion of the time, and the day before we had to depart I was starting to plan how I could get back there, and how quickly. walk a short way throught a mangrove, you are on the beach, and can literally walk north for an hour without seeing anyone, or go south a short way and you are at a world renown surf break. I would recommend this to the most discriminating, demanding traveler as an exceptional, relaxing, pampering trip. The Villa suits couples, families, individuals, everyone....It was a wonderful experience for both my daughter and myself and I count the days until I can return. AND, my daughter is already planning on having her wedding there in the future....thanks to Matt and Jessica for a great vacation!

Room Tip: Any of the suites are beautiful, all have wonderful views, fireplaces, beautiful decor.

i stayed at villa santa cruz over the easter weekend in april. jessica and matt are incredible hosts; from the moment you arrive, to the moment you depart, they manage to balance attentiveness with solitude (if you want it). a beautiful couple who obviously put a lot of love and care into the maintenance of their property and the happiness of their guests.

the property is set 5 miles out of todos santos along a dirt track set between thousands of cactus. a fun way to drive in and out of town. if you are looking for peace and quiet away from the cabos tourists, a deserted beach where you won't see another soul, a surf break right out the front and cerritos not so far away, horse back riding along the shore break, epic sunsets, hammocks to read a book in, then look no further.

this boutique hotel has four rooms, all of which are spotless with incredible views. you pay a little more for the two suites at the front but they are worth it. three of the rooms were occupied when i was there for 2 of the nights but i barely saw the guests. that's the great thing about santa cruz; there are so many places on the property to hide you can do just that... hideaway. i was there alone on the last two nights but felt completely safe. jessica and matt live on the property and are only a phone call away if you need them.

i was looking for a place to re-charge and i found it.

the only downside is that there is also another house for rent on the property. the guests of this house share the swimming pool. there were a number of teenagers staying there whilst i was there who naturally wanted to use the pool and stayed up late at night. might be worth checking if they are expecting visitors as you get rather selfish with the peace and quiet and when it gets spoilt it can be very annoying.

apart from that, i cannot recommend santa cruz highly enough!

What an incredible place! Villa Santa Cruz in Todos Los Santos, Mexico.

Matt and Jessica have created a magnificent oasis on the coast about 4-5 kilometers north of Los Santos. I was there at the end of March with family. We ranged in ages from wizened grandparent to lil’ guy. There was something for everyone! Walking the beach (not another soul to be seen in either direction), kite flying (left it up overnight and picked it up in the agave field the next morning), horse-back riding (imagine it , galloping on the beach), deep-sea fishing (at many places within yards of the shore; putting in at Punta Lobos was a great experience, towed out by local fishermen through the incoming waves, catching the surf on the way back for a ride up onto the beach, along with lots of fish), splendid sunsets (watch for the emerald flash as the sun dips over the edge of the horizon), viewed in comfort from the Villa’s rooftop patio with fire pit and appropriate libation (required for contemplation and pontification; Reposado, aged in oak and found in the kitchen), large crystal clear swimming pool, great breakfasts! (fashioned by the hands of the lovely Jessica), light lunches, board games (beware Matt’s invitation to engage in a friendly round of Pinochle), reading, writing, thinking, rediscovering yourself and those with you.

The rooms are commodious, spotlessly clean, and fresh (Gracias, Bernardina!). Huge views! Excellent hot showers (The Villa sits at the edge of the ocean, and on what may be an endless aquifer of fresh water). Cell phone service and Y-fi (yes, if you must).

Todos Los Santos is a magical town. There are all kinds of lovely shops, and good little restaurants. Excellent seafood! The fresh Mango Daiquiri at El Zaguan was the best I’ve ever had (actually, all three were, on successive days). Lo mismo with the Margarita at Il Giardin. Zen Gardens. Too many to name.
Given its location, and the character of the community, we felt totally safe, and at home among friends with Matt and Jessica, and others we met while there. When you go, visit Barbara at La Canada del Diablo (a furniture, and “other things” shop). She’s not the mayor but ought to be. She offered to help in any way she could, and I had only met her thirty minutes earlier. If you want to check up on what’s going on in town before you get there log on to “bajawesternonion.com”.

Todos Los Santos will not last forever. People like me will keep going back. Hopefully Villa Santa Cruz will survive us. See you there!

Martin
