“Paradise on the Beach”
Reviewed August 2, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Let me start by saying that staying at Dr. Robert's Ocean Oasis was like none other... simply stated, it was fantastic. We were a group of 22, including myself and my four siblings, our spouses our 11 offspring, plus our cousin from Germany. We stayed there from June 17th 2015 until June 24th 2015. This trip was organized to honor my mother who passed away last year. It was her dying wish that rather than have a memorial service, she wished that we spent her remaining funds on a trip to Baja, a place that she and our dad cherished for many years. And staying at Dr. Robert's place fit the bill perfectly. We enjoyed the beachfront atmosphere, the casual but very functional facilities, and the quiet solitude. We never wanted to leave the place! Everything about it was perfect for our group. We all definitely want to come back soon.

Liked best: The privacy and close proximity to the beach
Liked least: The water problem (for one day) and that was not the fault of the owner but the inefficient water company

“The view is beautiful.... However,”

Let's be honest here. The view was breath taking. The trees were beautiful. But that was about it.

PROS: beautiful sunsets. Amazing beach view. Secluded area for enjoyment. Accessible restrooms. Activities (was told there was anyways) kayaks. Frisbee golf. Chess. Pool table. Drinking water available.

CONS:The pictures do not currently reflect what the property looks like. Perhaps these photos were a long time ago or photoshopped. The pictures do not reflect the current condition and looks of the property. The living areas were dirty and there was a ton of bugs. (It was June however, some. Bugs are expected). The linens did not appear to be clean. The hot tub was not in operating condition. The beach was some what dirty. There is a big table that appears to be a replica of a drum, but it was large and in the way.

As I said, the view is great. Nice and private. But you might as well be camping and these pictures do not reflect the true and accurate property. Not to mention the police came by and that is unprofessional.

Management Response
1 Aug 2015
I am confused. We only had one large, all property booking in June. I called the group leader, after receiving this, and asked him if there was a problem. He said no, they loved it and are planning to return next year. He was also upset by this review and offered to send one that sets the record straight and includes his recent pictures taken in the main house. I am proud that over 90% of our reviews are overwhelmingly positive.

“Fabulous hosts, great location, relaxed Baja at its best...”
Reviewed April 5, 2015 for a stay in March 2015

Andy and Robert are basically the BEST two fellows travelers could ask for. Incredibly knowledgeable, funny, and helpful about everything within fifty miles. We weren't crazy about our room, but if we had bucked up a little more, they have two AMAZING spots that we'll be returning to. Again, these guys are fantastic and Pescadero is a PERFECT spot for exploring the western lower peninsula... THANKS!

“True Oasis in the Baja desert”

If an oasis is a place to find rest and relaxation in comfortable surroundings, then this lives up to it's name. A quick drive off highway 1 in El Pescadero takes you through verdant farm fields towards the ocean and Dr. Robert's place. The owner was very welcoming and friendly, the apartment spacious, clean and well stocked for dining in with a very complete kitchen, and the sunset view was stunning. We enjoyed whale watching off of our deck every day as well as taking in the world class surfing just up the beach from The Oasis. Great place for a reunion or wedding as there are multiple housing options and plenty of common space outdoors for gatherings. There was a beautiful "barefoot" wedding on the beach during our stay and the party welcomed us as guests around the fire in the evening for refreshments. We felt very relaxed during our stay and will be returning again. Thanks Dr. R!

“Excellent, relaxed, beautiful location”

Dr. Roberts place is an oasis, of fun, quiet and joy. Staying there was a great choice, from the laid back but helpful staff, to the perfect, quiet location. If you want to stay away from the hustle and bustle of Cabo, but just want a nice beach, good rooms, breaking waves and endless whale watching, this if for you. We stayed in the apartment, with great views and accommodations. The host, Robert, was very informative about where to eat, what to do, and how to enjoy our time. We had bonfires on the beach, wood fired hot tub soaks, and used their kayaks, boogie boards and beach games (Frisbee golf and bocci). I could write more, we had a great time and saw very few other people in the area. Thanks Robert and crew!!

“This place is outstanding”

Dr. Robert's place is exactly what we needed. It's what we were looking for without even knowing it. Diclaimer: If you want an all inclusive Cabo sort of thing, Don't even come up to Todos Santos or Pescadero. There is plenty of that for you in Cabo. If you want a true Baja experience, then go on over to Baja Robert's place.

Post Odile, the place is back together. We stayed in the apartment and it was very comfortable. Another group was using the rest of the house and everyone was happy with plenty of room.

We watched whales right from the balcony. Robert showed us how to launch frizbees onto the far yonder's of the beach from the roof. Another day he took us fishing with his friend Augustine and we caught Dorado, Wahoo and a Mariln. What more can you ask for?

You get the whole package with this place. Plus you get to meet Robert who is one of the most interesting, sweetest and intelligent people I've ever met.

I would rec this place to anyone. Unless you are high maintenance and your expectations of Baja are weird, you will love it.

“The Ocean Oasis is open again after Hurricane Odile”
Reviewed October 31, 2014 for a stay in October 2014

Hurricane Odile was very destructive but Dr. Roberts worked hard in getting his beach home ready for our visit. My sons, nephew, and bro-in-law were warmly welcomed and treated as family. The rooms were spacious and comfortable and we had access to the kitchen, two refrigerators, pool table, great books, a wood fired hot tub, sea kayaks, a couple of surf boards, local advice, and a lovely cat to play pool with.
Keep in mind that this is a beach home and not a luxury resort. If you can handle doing things for yourself and enjoy the freedom of "mi casa es tu casa" then this excellent location and large living space is great! If you are looking for pampered service then another destination might be better.
We will be back - I loved the local feel and energy of Dr. Roberts and the property.
