Casamagna was accessible from the airport, open, airy and had good food. We traveled here for a wedding and it was a great place to stay. Breakfast buffet, ordered ceviche both days at the pool, massages at the spa. Overall great stay, what I expected from Marriott.

Stayed one night during a business trip. I was expecting just the basics (clean room, decent food), however, I found the hotel beyond all my expectations.

Let's be clear: the property is old (must have at least a couple of decades), so dont expect the super trendy architecture/furnishing. However, all the buildings are impecable maintained and deep renovation has been done inside restaurants and rooms (you can easily notice that rooms has been remodeled in the last 24 months or so). Powerful shower, Ipod dock, comfy bed and all the stuff you want to have in a room.

But the greatness of hotels is in the service attitude, and trust me: you'll find a five-star level staff at this place. From check in, until the last bell boy, every person is committed to make things easy for the customer.

Had dinner at the sports bar and breakfast at the main restaurant and both were just great.

On the downside, maybe WIFI in year 2012 should be a given standard, but internet was not so expensive to be honest.

Never having been to PV we searched and searched for hotels but didn't really know where to stay. We landed on CasaMagna simply because I'm an avid Marriott Rewards member and I'm glad we did. Staying in the Marina provided us with an excuse to see a part of PV we otherwise wouldn't have (since there's not much else around there). The service throughout the hotel was great and the food was delicious (a bit expensive, but definitely high quality). The gym exceeded our needs and the pool and beach area were perfect. I would definitely stay here again but might go more toward El Centro, El Malecon, or the Romantic Zone because that's where we found ourselves most nights. I gave it a 4 out of 5 because the hotel claims to be a 5-Star but it felt more like a 3.5 or 4 star to me. It was a bit on the pricey side, there was a lot of noise outside of our room and even with the thermostat set to 68°F it was too warm so we didn't get the best quality sleep.

Room Tip: While we loved the view on the north side of the tower that's perpendicular to the beach it was...

My entire family spent Presidents’ week at the Marriott CasaMagna in Puerto Vallarta. This was my family’s ninth annual trip to this resort town. We have stay primarily at this resort and always had awesome experiences. Our group included my wife, our three grown children, two spouses, and two babies.

Arrival at the airport was a little crazy. A half a dozen planes must have landed at 1:00 p.m. The line to immigration was forever. Since we were traveling with the two infants, the officer let us skip the tourist lines and go through the line where the Mexican residents re-enter. We probably saved an hour or more in waiting time.

I had e-mailed Simon, the chief concierge, and he set up a van to pick us up at the airport. We were greeted by a woman with our name on a sign just outside customs and we were able to avoid the frenzy for cabs outside the airport. The cost was $66.00 for all nine of us to load up and drive the 2 miles to the resort.

Daniel, the bellman, greeted us at the entrance. He carted all fifteen bags of luggage to our rooms and let me check-in inside my room, avoiding the line in the lobby. All of our rooms were ready upon our arrival at 2:15 p.m.

Simon had upgraded our three reward certificate rooms to Junior Suites. The upgrade fee was $112.00/per night/room. The suites gave the families with babies more space for the cribs etc. The suites were in the Banderas Bay tower which gave a magnificent view of the pool and ocean. Simon also set up a golf date for me and my son at the Marina Golf course which is next to the resort.

We also had three all-inclusive reward certificates for our rooms which included all meals, drinks, even room service. The breakfast buffet was the best. Lunch and drinks at the pool was a daily ritual. Victor and Ricardo were always there to get anything we needed. I highly recommend the fish fillet sandwich. It is lemon grilled and very tasty. Note: Marriott ended the all-inclusive reward certificates as of October 2011. I must thank Marie and Maxine at Marriott Rewards headquarters in Utah for honoring my pre-October reservations and allowing me to obtain the all-inclusive certificates in January. Having the all-inclusive packages made the vacation.

We had room service most nights (Babysitting was our nightly joy.) while our kids went to town for dinner and fun. The room service New York Steaks and Mahi-mahi were excellent. We actually ate at all three restaurants. My kids had sushi at Mikado’s, burgers at Champions, and breakfasts and dinners at La Estancia. All were great.

The pool was large, warm, and clean. We took the babies for rides in their inflatables every day. The beach was not Hawaii or the Caymans, but very nice. The ocean water was a little rough. We had six beautiful days and one cloudy day. No rain.

We went fishing on the Babalou again this year. There were no fish caught in the bay, but we saw and photographed a huge whale that breached about 200 yards from our boat. This was 100 times better than catching fish. “Fishing with Babalou” is still the best value in PV @ $50.00 per hour. Louis, the Captain (from the states) is great. You can contact him at fishwithbabalu@aol.com.

Every afternoon we had drinks (usually tequilas) at the lobby bar. Special thanks to Arturo and Roberto who tended the bar.

We all went to dinner at LeLeche. Excellent food and drinks. (Sorry about the mess on the floor from the babies!) We also had lunch at the Barcelona. Great tapas and beautiful views of the harbor and sunset.

Our rooms were cleaned daily and we had no issues with any aspects of the rooms.

Check out was easy and 99% accurate. Cesar was very helpful, as always.

Don’t buy into the hype about the dangers of going to Mexico. This area is safer than in the states. My youngest son (27 years-old) was out, downtown, until sun-up on several evenings and reported no problems. Cabs are still cheap and available everywhere, 24 hours/day.

Great job! And thank you! To everyone at the Marriott!

We’ll be back for our tenth February next year.

We were guests at the CasaMagna the first week of February. Arriving at the resort we were greeted with beautiful open air public areas on the main floor entrance and lobby. The customer service orientation by ALL staff, as noted by many reviewers, was exceptional! Our room faced the pool and the beach and was lovely. The food was exceptional for the most part. The buffet breakfast was included in our travel package and we took advantage of it every morning. There was something for everyone. We enjoyed dinner at their beach side restaurant twice. Both the food and service was very good but the biggest plus was sitting in an open air restaurant on the beach at sunset! The open air lobby bar was a favorite place to stop for drinks late afternoons with the comfortable seating and cool breezes from the bay. We enjoyed several afternoons at the large infinity pool. Drinks and food are available for poolside enjoyment. For me there were two large drawbacks. I never saw anyone in the bay so was concerned about the undertow.....when I go to the beach, I like to enjoy the water. Another dissapointment was at the beach , I enjoy being able to look at the water and sand when on a tropical a vacation. The Mexican vendors would set up their portable stalls early every morning between the beach lounge chairs and the bay so the only view we had was of their
trinkets blowing in the breeze.

We just got back from our fifth trip to the CASA MAGNA MARRIOTT and look forward to next year again. There are many things that we love about the hotel. 1) Puerto Vallarta, Mexico is a lovely area to visit and we have felt extremely safe . 2) The hotel itself is beautiful. The beach, grounds, spa, fitness center, pools and rooms are lovely. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful 3) The hotel's location is perfect. It's right on the beach but in a nice residential and hotel neighborhood. Great for beach or neighborhood walking. It is a 3 1/2 blocks walk to the Marina area which is a beautiful marina lined by restaurants and shops. A cab ride into town is about 15-20 minutes. 4) Puerto Vallarta compared to the US has value. Restaurants, taxis ,etc. are cheaper than the States. 5) Puerto Vallarta also has terrific restaurants. Some of our favorites that we would highly recommend are: The Vista Grill ,Sonora Grill, Trio, La Palapa, Portobello, Casa Naranjo, Victor's and Barcelona.

Room Tip: I would request high floor ,ocean/pool view, as close to the ocean as possible
