This was my 3rd time to stay at the Mercurio and I was not disappointed. My airline lost my luggage and the reception staff looked after everything for me, they called the airline several times and kept me updated on when my bag would arrive. They also suggested a store I could go to buy a new tee-shirt. The hotel is right in the center of PV's gay area.

Rooms are basic but very clean. I never had issues with no hot water although at times you did need to let it run for abit. The bar and pool area are a great way to meet other guests I made some great new friends chatting during breakfast or happy hour.

The staff are defo what makes the Mercurio a place I will return to again, ALL of them are great at what they do and a prime example of what Mexican hospitality and friendliness is all about.

Thanks guys for making it another great holiday in PV and see you soon.

I just returned from a 15 day stay at the Hotel Mercurio in Puerto Vallarta. The hotel is small (26 or 27 rooms) and is centrally located in the Zona Romántica. From there you can walk to the Playa de los Muertos, fine restaurants or great clubs in less than 10 minutes. Almost anything a traveler would want is within walking distance. I seldom take a taxi or bus. This was my 7th or 8th stay and it was a great as ever. From the moment you enter and register, you can tell you are in a really friendly hotel. Gabriel, the manager and the office staff -- Alex, Dany, and Isaac know who you are and are always efficient and pleasant while tending to your needs. The poolside breakfast every morning consists of freshly brewed coffee, eggs, a meat dish, freshly made orange juice, yogurt, fresh fruit as well as rolls, toast and pastry. Breakfast and happy hour are great times to meet or renew old acquantices with the other guests. At 3 pm, the pool area becomes the cocktail lounge where you are hosted by longtime cantinero, Jorge. The houskeeping staff of Jose luis, Alma and Arcelia keep the rooms in spic and spam condition.

I plan to return in January with some of my friends.

Close to the beach, good location, away from traffic noise. Some rooms are very clean. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Good breakfast, although some days no bread, Youghurt.(lot of shops around if they want to buy very quickly). Swimming pool was cold almost everyday and our last day we found out you have to asked someone to start the heat and it takes half hour to warm up the pool! Rooms close to the pool can be noisey if you try to sleep early but ok after 11.P.M. There are some cheaper hotels around but this hotel has right price for a gay place.

The staff was great. Good service. Very helpful. English spoken by the majority of the staff.

Breakfast was included every day at the bar by the pool. It was always wonderful. The only negative is that they did not have de-caf coffee available--but that was easily fixed by purchasing a jar of instant de-caf at local grocery.

It is just a short one or two block walk down hill to the beach and to the pier. The hotel gives you beach towels to use on or off their property.

They also have a Vonage VOIP phone that is available to all guests free of charge. So, I could still call my voicemail when necessary to check messages and return calls if necessary. There was also free Wi-Fi access throughout the hotel and at the pool area.

The rooms were nice. Small refrigerator, kitchenette with dishes, silverware, etc.

Bed linens were good. Nice comforter, lots of bolsters, throw pillows, etc. (Only negative here is that a few more pillows on the bed would have made sleeping better.)

The bar at the pool was good. The bartender, Jorge, makes EXCELLENT Margaritas. And, like the rest of the staff--always helpful when/if you need it.

Sometimes the noise from the pool area would drift up to our room--it's a small hotel, so that happens. But it was not obnoxius. I could still read and drift off to sleep.

If you are one of those high-maintenance queens who must have everything perfect, this hotel may not be for you. We took a tour of some rooms at another hotel and the ambience was better. We may upgrade on our next trip to PV. But for the price ($72/night off season rate) the Mercurio was excellent.

Where to start when everything was just so perfect! The staff, the rooms, the location, and food. Our entire group of 15 people, stayed for 8 nights at the Mercurio Hotel May 1-9, 2010. Our group was celebrating a friends 40th brithday, and Hotel Mercurio embrassed us. The weather was fantastic, but even that was outshone by the ambience and cleanliness of the hotel. I cannot praise the cleaning staff enough for the cleanliness of the entire hotel.

The room in which we stayed was so clean. The bathroom toilet and floors were sparkling. Bedding crisp, and the bed was huge and so comfortable, ( no problem with sleeping ), the bedroom overlooked and pool area, it was a great view and lovely sound of running water.

The staff were attentive, humble, caring, and understanding when we needed anything for our group of 15 people. Breakfasts was always well prepared and more thn enough for the masses of people. The bar location is wonderful for swimmers and tanners at the pool side. A

And then of course there is the location. Well what can I say to adequately describe this.
Perched high on a hillside overlooking two parts of the city and clear blue beach sunsets as the sun goes down over the water, and fantastic sunrises over the ocean.

And with several vantage points with ample seating, you can take your drinks outside and just enjoy the ambience on a nice sunny day. An amazing place to spend time with friends, family and loved ones, or just to get away from it all, treat yourself as recooperation from life. I'm already saving up for my next visit and I'm recommending it to everyone I meet.

Mercurio staff is now a part of our family !

Thank you Gabriel, Alex, Jorge, Erik, Alfonso, Manuel, Mary, Juan Carlos, Eduardo, Jose Luis, Dany, Issac, and Arma for all the great service.

Love,
Tim Evans

when i was booking this hotel i didn't know what to expect. since i never stayed at a small hotel.let alone a gay one.so when i arrived i was nervous but pleasantly surprised the staff( Danny,Isaac,Alex, gabriel,Jorge, Alma where so nice, friendly, helpful and attentive to all my needs and very professional i felt like i was staying with a friend instead of a hotel.my room was nice (see pic) clean good size the air conditioner worked great i woke up freezing many times. the shower water got very hot and the water pressure was good.i got my room cleaned daily even if it didn't need it and always had fresh towels and toiletries and was secure and the fridge and the safe in the room where a added plus. the breakfast was a great start to the day fresh eggs, toast,Mexican breads, different meats everyday fresh coffee, juice, mixed fruits, yogurts, the pool(see pic) was small but very clean, Jorge the bartender heard me remark that the water was cold that day and took the time to put the heater on i felt like a VIP. the pool is located in the middle of the court yard next to the bar(see pic).happy hour is fun and great to meet other travelers and locals as well as hang with friends i don't drink but still had fun even if i was only having a coke. the hotel gets quiet early so i never had problems sleeping i ran out of clean clothes just before the end of my trip so Gabriel the manager had them washed for me and they where in my room clean and folded when i arrived back later that day again i felt like a VIP+the location cant be beat. just exit the hotel walk down the street and your at the beach as well as many many restaurant's, bars, diners, cafes, shopping from drug stores to clothes to jewelry to Internet cafes there's endless options and its very safe there. i was out late alone many times and never felt intimidated this is a 3 star hotel that makes you feel like a special VIP i was treated better then when i stay at other big name hotels. here your a person not a number this hotel takes the time to know your name to help you in anyway and wants you to be happy and to see you smile and wants you to enjoy your stay at hotel mercurio and p.v. i cant wait to return here to have another memorable time
