We stayed at the Plaza Pelicanos Club Resort in Puerto Vallarta for 6 nights. The first thing people should know is that there are 2 distinct Plaza Pelicanos resorts. There is the club and the Grand resort. These properties are near each other but are not connected and you can't go from one property to the other and use the facilities at the respective resorts. The Club resort has 2 sections. The one you see in the photos is the only one near the ocean. The other property is across a driveway and doesn't have ocean access. Although it's only a short walk to the beach access it's a bit misleading when you look at the photos on line. Having said that, the resort is very clean, and the staff work non stop to keep it clean. Our room was very comfortable, and our maid Elvira was great. There were a few minor problems with the room. The first night we were there we had an electrical short that shut off all our electrical and the room next door electrical for a short time. They had a maintenance man come take a light fixture off that was shorting out and fixed it the next day. There was also a broken curtain rod in the room but it still functioned ok.
The staff at the resort work very hard and are very friendly. The waiter and bartenders were great and the service was very good. The food at the buffet was very good most days and they had a good selection of different foods both American and traditional Mexican dishes. There were some items that were not very good but there was plenty to eat every day. You only get a limited amount of reservations at the specific restaraunts (Italian, and Japanese sushi), and the rest of time you eat at the buffet. I actually preferred the buffet over the other options at the resort.
The one main problem with this resort was the fact that it is very loud!!! If you are looking for a quiet secluded resort with easy beach access with a more mature crowd, then this is not the place for you. But if you have kids, or a party mentality, then you'll fit right in here. The pools are great. They have a small pool for kids, and a larger pool for adults with a swim up bar. Then other section has 1 pool with a bar and the beach access, but you can use any of these facilities or amenitites no matter which section you're stying in. You just have to walk a short distance.
I would definitely stay here again if the price was right. I would classify this resort at 3 and 1/2 stars. For the price we paid it was a great value. Just a little noisy.
