The Hyatt Ziva is a high quality, all inclusive property. The food is fresh and there is quite a selection. It is a beautiful beach for swimming. My only complaint is that the bed sheets were a bit scratchy but otherwise, top notch!

Place was OK, but everything just seemed a little off. It felt like corners were cut. The food was average, nothing that stood out. You always need to worry about the water quality in mexico for good reason. I did get sick the last day (thank god i prepacked antibiotics). I did enjoy the pool areas and bar options. However they only have one beer on premise - Dos XX. I will not be returning.

We visited the Hyatt as a couple with our adult daughter and her partner between October 24th to November 5th. We stayed in the Club Tower and they stayed in the original tower.
Thankfully all the loud renovations that had occurred on previous visits in the last 12 months were complete and while there was some renovations going on, there was no distracting or annoying noise during our visit. (It was interesting to see the end result of some of the construction from the last visit - a new swim-out pool in front of the ground floor Club tower suites. They did a very nice job)

With the exception of an issue which occurred twice (more on that later), overall it was a fantastic vacation as usual.

CHECK-IN
We love the Club tower for many reasons including the separate check-in and the lobby bar / snack area. Quick trip down the elevator in the morning for cappuccinos or mimosas, or grabbing a drink, ice, or light snacks on the way up.

ROOM
Nice welcome / anniversary card and fruit from General Manager Antonio Machain greeted us upon entry, a nice touch. All rooms face the ocean so there is no worry about not having that view. As mentioned, all rooms in the club tower have recently been renovated and they are great. Modern, clean, and up to date with all expected amenities including huge shower, separate toilet with full wood door and mini-bar. Other benefits are large balcony, comfy beds, pillows and huge TV. As stated before, English channel selection is more limited than other properties.
The room in the other tower was also beautiful and very well appointed. If finances are the first consideration, no one should hesitate at all about booking these rooms. Just remember that most do not have walkout balconies.

POOLS / BEACH
The main pools look good, and serve their purposes for swim-up bar, families, games and activities but this means they also are typically crowded and noisy. The pool in front of original tower is small, covered by trees and does not permit any sun or view of the ocean, but is very nice. It is also used for weddings which means there’s a good chance you’ll get kicked out for private functions at any time. The “Adult Only” pool lets you look out over an infinity edge onto the ocean, but it is no bigger than a backyard in-ground pool. There are also so many lounge chairs on the deck that you have to get on and off them at the end of the chaise because the sides are so close together with your neighbour. This okay if you’re family, not so much with strangers. This pool also has a hot tub beside it. Temperature fluctuates daily.

The beach and water are among the best in the area but with the Tropical storm they had the day before we landed, there were so many rocks washed up that walking out in to the water was a struggle. Fortunately, they were completely gone within a week and this was certainly not the hotel’s fault. There are a few beach sellers but they are very respectful when you say, “no thank you”, typically leaving you alone for the day after the first approach.

FOOD / BARS
The buffet is quite good, and it is also typical in that breakfasts have a good selection and everything you would expect or want, lunch about the same and dinners are bit more limited.
The Asian, and Italian Restaurants were very good even after repeat visits during our stay. Unfortunately, Blaze Steakhouse was closed for renovations while we were there, but the hotel did their best to offer its menu both outside (this was a problem when it rained) and in other venues that they closed for the purpose. The Blaze food was great no matter where it was served. The Mexican restaurant is beautiful but not quite as good as the others. The Sports Bar is typical for an all-inclusive.

The main bar, (Sunset Bar), is a nice venue to spend time at for cocktails before dinner and a nightcap afterwards, unfortunately, it was also the source of the only problem we had during our stay. We will acknowledge right now that there will be many people who have absolutely no sympathy for the following comments, but for those who smoke it was a real problem and will continue to be going forward unless they find a fair resolution for all.
As mentioned, The Sunset Bar is the main bar for the property and consists of a very large enclosed area with a 3-sided exterior balcony with various seating configurations to look at the ocean. The balcony is also the only venue to smoke outdoors on property and enjoy a served drink. The issue was that twice they closed off the entire area both inside and out to host wedding events which left no where for drinks or smoking that wasn’t literally in the parking lot or some other nook hidden out of the way of everything. This was very disappointing given the fact that the resort is basically smoke free to begin with except this area. This really put a damper on the two nights for us and for the many, many others who were very obviously angry. Don’t get us wrong, we understand the Hyatt is not going to turn down revenue if they can get it, however smoking and alternate beverage services in another area just as beautiful (perhaps extended along the railing overlooking pools) should have been in effect for these events. There were a LOT of people on our trip who were so upset they said this would be a significant decision in not coming back. If this is going to be an ongoing venue for wedding or other private function use, it needs to be resolved as there are still significant numbers of smoking travellers.

SERVICE
This is truly where this resort does shine. Almost without exception, all of the staff we interacted with were professional, friendly, funny, excellent at their job and so welcoming to all of our family at all times. We wish we could name everyone, but we would like to highlight a few standouts for recognition by management (we apologize in advance for any misspelled names and those we forgot):

- Club Tower Check-In: Luis, Issac, Carlos
- Club Tower Lobby Lounge: Reuben and Mariza
- Beach Service: Juan Luis and Artuero
- Main Buffet: Rosendo, Samuel, Bryan, Socimo, Jesus, and Capitana Susy
- Sunset Bar: David, Virginia and Samantha
- Food and Beverage Manager Samuel was great as always. He has been with the property for almost 20 years and seen so many changes. He is always watching to ensure everything is perfect for the guests.

We would like to thank each and every one of these amazing people for making our trip even more amazing, plus all the others in every department throughout the resort who we did not get the names

OVERALL:
The Hyatt is one of the most expensive all-inclusive resorts in PV but continues to be one of our favorites. We heard a few people complaining about the same things that we thought were fantastic. We also noticed they were typically the rudest, most demanding and non-tipping guests. Ignore their revues - the grounds, food, rooms and most of all people are amazing.
General Manager Machain has a great property and people.

Room tip: All rooms both towers are great

My husband & I visited this resort with a group of approximately 36 people for my bestfriends wedding. We had a great trip and made a lot of great memories.

Room: Our room was big and had all the amenities we would expect for a all inclusive resort. We were on the ground floor and still have a lovely ocean view. The only down side to our room was on two separate days there was a smell of raw sewage coming from the drains in the bathroom, it didnt last long but was still pretty gross. Also I found the sheets to be scratchy, almost like hospital sheets.

Resort: The location is great and very private with mountains on either side. For the first few days the resort only seemed 1/4 full making it very easy to find loungers and chairs by the bars and pools. The resort was very well maintained and clean. The beach was beautiful, and the vendors arent pushy at all. (One vendor did offer us drugs) No matter where I was in the resort there was always a nice view. Something we really liked was there was no high pressure timeshare or spa sales person coming around as we had experienced at other resorts. However; I feel like the resort is more adult oriented, and smaller children might be bored. Also I didnt feel like there was adequate entertainment and had we not been with a large group we might have been also bored. Lastly, this resort does do a lot of weddings, I think there was 5/6 during the week we were there.

Food: We ordered room service everyday for breakfast and we were told each day that the wait would be about 40 mins, however we were pleasantly surprised that it always arrived in approximately 20 mins, and the server would set it up for us. The food at the restaurants we felt was a hit or miss, actually the restaurants themselves were very good with excellent service, however the food at the buffet tasted overly salty and wasnt good at all. Again the drinks by the pool we found not to be as good as the drinks in the restaurant or bars.

Service: The service overall was excellent. Everyone we encountered was very attentive and very polite. The day of the wedding the service staff seemed to go out of their way to make sure everything was good for the wedding. Only a few times our server forgot our drinks by the pool but I expected that as we were a large group and many drinks were ordered.

Other: The music at the bar shuts down at midnight, I feel like it should go until 1am or 2am especially on a Saturday night as people are there to vacation.

Overall a wonderful stay! The main tower swim up rooms are divine (there are now rooms in both main and club), they not very private but we loved meeting our neighbours. In the main tower stay in rooms 1107-1115 for ocean view. There is a tiki bar right below that they bring you drinks right to your own pool if you ask!!! (I would say the best rooms for that purpose would be 1114-1110, 1115 is quite shaded and would not get much sun. The club tower looks nice and new but the main tower was also fine. The basic rooms without the balcony definitly look lacking (they do have a door that opens but no balcony, just a gait) It is not a perfect property with some attention to detail lacking (loose handles, broken doors, cool hot tub, weak jets), but these did not affect our stay as we were overwhelmed by the other great things. The food overall was great in our opinion, not 5 star but great for an all inclusive. Blaze is under construction so only a few outdoor seats available and limited menu. The alchohol choice was great (you just have to ask for better quality if you want it). Staff were lovely! We miss it already and hope to be back!!!
