“A little piece of heaven”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 March 2012

My husband and I spent a month (Jan. 26th - Feb. 23rd) at Costa Sur and as always, loved every minute of it! How many times have you been on vacation and as soon as the cab arrives at your destination, you are welcomed by Juan and Carlos saying "welcome home amigos". Talk about heartwarming! The new beds were a godsend! Fernando at the front desk took good care of us and was able to get us an end unit for our last two weeks. He also got our daughters an end unit for their two week stay and it was much appreciated! Jose, the activities director, is doing an amazing job and works hard to involve you as much as possible. He isn't too bad on the eyes either! Juan, Kiki, Fabricio are all awesome and work hard to make sure your food and drink orders are brought to you in a timely manner. The food has really improved and it was nice to see so many people enjoying meals on the patio. Carlos and Juan are a huge asset to Costa Sur and are always available to help wherever needed......thanks guys! I just can't say enough good things about Costa Sur. We look forward to our yearly trip to PV but what we love the most, is our friends and employees of this quaint little resort! Love, love, love this place.

We traded out our timeshare to stay at this hotel for a week in January, 2012. It was comfortable and had new beds and new painted rooms. The kitchen area was big enough to do some quick snacks and breakfast in your room, much not much more. The beach is very small and is on a slant, hard to sun bathe there. However, the pool area is very nice and if you are early enough, you can get a lounge chair saved for the day. The happy hour is only one hour long and is just too short a time to service everyone that comes into the bar area. Overall, I thought it was above average but it depends on what you are looking for.

Just returned from a two-week stay where I enjoyed the spectacular ocean view from my room as well as from the pool and restaurant. The room was spacious with kitchen facilities. Great hot showers--no bathtub. I would not recommend buying the food coupons ahead of time because it created a problem for me. You cannot sign and leave a tip on a zero balance. I bought the coupons so I wouldn't have to have cash on me; anyway, it would have been easier just to sign for the bill and add my tip. We got it sorted out eventually. The staff there work very hard to earn tips.

This is a tropical climate so there are going to be some bugs. I saw one little spider and one fly in my room the whole time I was there which is nothing considering I had the patio doors open most of the time. Love that fresh air! Anyway, I would recommend using insect repellent on a regular basis to avoid any bites.

There is a bus stop across the highway; for seven pesos, you are in downtown PV. I took the bus several times and found it quite satisfactory.

I booked my room like you would a hotel room; however, there are many people at the resort who either are owners or are previous owners of a timeshare at this property. Do your homework before you get into any contracts. I think it is economical to book the way I did rather than entering into a contract.

All in all, I had a great stay and would not hesitate to return to this resort. The front desk staff was extremely professional and helpful!

Room Tip: Higher floors have more noise from the highway, but the view was fantastic. The lobby is on the six...

Just had a two week stay here.there were a lot of little bugs everywhere. I saw them in the in the lobby and by the bar etc. and a lot in the bedroom. On the counters, walls, bathrooms, bed side tables etc. Everywhere but the bed. Bathroom really needs to be fixed up. Beach would be much nicer if they combed the rocks out of the sand. I cut my foot pretty badly trying to get down to the water. Food was really bad. We got spaghetti from the walmart and had that for supper 3-4 nights and had grilled chz sandwiches tonight. The only reason I'm ok with it is because we got a good deal on it so didn't pay a lot. Staff were very friendly but I wouldn't stay here again.

Dear guest,

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. I am terribly sorry we could not meet your expectations.

Being surrounded by mountains and rainforest you will see little bumblebees every now and then but i can assure you it is not a problem.

Have a great day and thank you.

Our 5th time at Costa Sur and again it met all of our expectations, plus the new king size beds, new large screen tv, and better food service and activities exceeded expectations.
As usual, it was the staff and service that made us feel at home once again.
From Fabricio at the bar, Victor pool side, Jose' getting everyone participating in something, Renaldo, Eswaldo, Jaun and the other waiters or Fernando at the front desk, staff was efficient, friendly and attentive. Lets not forget Jaun and Carlos on security out front that would do anything for you from cabs, medical attention if needed, directions and good advice, from your arrival to departure.
This hotel, their staff and many of their long time winter guests are our winter friends that we enjoy seeing yearly, usualy weeks 7 to 9.

My friend received a week stay from a family member that has been an owner for over 30 years so 3 of us girls headed south for some much needed R&R. The location is great and it is so easy to jump on the bus for 7 pesos to go in to town. We were greeted with drinks upon on arrival and a very warm welcome. We had a 1 bedroom condo on the 5th floor that had everything we were looking for including a spectacular view - you are right on the water!
Most people that stay there are owners that have been coming from 10 to 30+ years so the age group is a little older (we loved that!).
Happy Hour is daily from 5 to 6 so the first night we headed down to check it out. You would think that there might be clicks but we met many wonderful people!! They made us feel so welcome and comfortable.
The people that work there go the extra mile to make sure that you have what you need plus they have a smile on their face - big kudos to Juan (at the bar) and Victor (at the pool) for taking good care of us!
I don't know if our room had been fully updated but it did have the flat screen TV. The bed was still very, very hard so didn't have the new one yet... We did have 3 big closets so plenty of room for all of our clothes, etc.
Apparently there have been some big changes in the food over the last year and a new Chef is on board. We have nothing but great things to say about the food other then some of the long-time people need to try it and not go in to town as much to eat! We had breakfast buffets, lobster, coconut shrimp, ribeye steaks, prime rib and the list goes on and on!
They also offer an all-inclusive package that we purchased on a day by day basis. For $63.00 it was all the food and drink that you wanted for the day with no exclusions - this was definitely the way to go for us!!
We made some great new friends and hope to make it back to Costa Sur to see them again!
