This is a nicely set out hotel with clean rooms and a roof terrace. The staff were helpful and you could purchase cold beers on site. We visited San Blas for surfing but must have been there too early in the season as there were no waves and the town was very quiet.

This little modest Mexican hotel is well located in San Blas just a short walk to the main square. The rooms were spotless, bathrooms recently renovated, linens in great shape.
There are lots of chairs, rocking chairs and tables to lounge in the pretty courtyard. The pool was unheated but very clean. There is a nice rooftop - perfect for a glass of wine at sunset.
The employees were pleasant and very accommodating.
Coffee and tea is provided free of charge. One traveler complained that the coffee was charged but by the sound of it, he/she may have drunk an unreasonable amount (12 cups?)
We would stay there again.

My wife & I have been staying at Posada del Rey since 1979. With it's Family Atmosphere, Excellent Service, and Value, we continue to return to "Our Home in San Blas". We have stayed at almost every establishment in San Blas since 1977 and there are several, nice hotels in town....But Hotel Posada del Rey is our 1st Choice!!

We are in Paradise. Posada del Rey is located in a quiet neighborhood with cobblestone streets and whitewashed houses. The room is spotless, as are the grounds. Our patio is filled with colorful flowers, the courtyard is shaded by a lovely flowering tree, and fragrant vines, and there is a sparkling pool. We are half a block from the Sea of Cortez. A hotel restaurant 1 ½ blocks away has a chef who trained at Cordon Bleu in Paris. Paradise. We just decided to stay another week before going on to Puerto Vallarta.

The main objective to go to San Blas was to participate in a world class birding experience. San Blas is the most species rich location north of Costa Rica. To keep costs in line, my friend and I wanted a reasonable hotel in a location walkable to markets and restaurants. Also we needed a quiet clean place from which to make our early morning departures and get a good night's sleep. We wanted a place where we could refrigerate the few groceries we would need to make breakfasts and lunches to take with us each day. And friendly helpful staff. We got it all at the Posada del Rey. The only complaint: the pillow were too thick and hard as rocks! Couldn't use mine. A roof top space along with seating outside our room near the pool made for nice relaxing outdoor space. Be aware that San Blas is a simple fishing village and so it doesn't have the polish of the larger tourist destinations. Be prepared to walk on cobble roads and to find your way down dimly lit roads to find your restaurant, but also know that there's lots of good food and great cooks there. It is safe and quiet. And take your bug spray.

Room tip: If you want your own private roof top area, ask for an upper room. There are two. One has three beds in it, which would work for a group traveling together and willing to share space to keep costs in line. Otherwise, the rooms around the pool area are very nice.
