It's slightly out of the town centre and as I approached it along a bumpy unpaved street, I wondered if it might be a bit rough. On the contrary: it was a welcoming arrival after a long journey and the staff were nice. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean and there was a refreshing pool in the patio.
Despite the usual panic warnings from booking.com that there was only one room left 14 days before I was due to arrive, it seemed I was the only person staying there. This seemed to be reflected in the whole of San Blas; it has a good beach with a long row of restaurants and beach shacks but it was almost deserted. Why?---had everybody migrated to Los Cabos? It was quite nice to be almost the only gringo there but I think the tourist industry is struggling. San Blas deserves a bit more TLC, I think.
There is a cheap taqueria in the main street 3 blocks from the Posada and a couple of economical restaurants in the plaza, the Parrillada and the Pescadito.
If arriving from central Mexico, you gain an hour in Nayarit as the clocks go back. Useful if you're on a long journey.More
