Delightful rustic eco park with butterflies and rescue animals. It was an adventure getting here, and we absolutely thought it was worth it! (Actually memories from 2011 trip)

A super place to learn. I used to work there for a year. Nice place to visit. The owner and founder has an authentic love for nature and the region. Visiting the place its a pleasure. And you are helping for sure to a great cause, the conservation of the region as it is. Beatiful and perfect.

PLEASE NOTE: El Refugio is now CLOSED!!! Actually, from what I understand, they are still open in the sense that they are caring for some of the animals from when they were previously open. HOWEVER, they are now closed to the public. From what I heard, because of funding. Hope this saves you an unnecessary trip, esp seeing that's its quite a trek from Zihuatenejo. Was surprised to still see this on Trip Advisor!

Drove & walked the village. Had lunch on the beach near the lagoon. Beautiful beach with very few tourists on it

Unfortunately, we didn't get to visit. We drove there yesterday around noon and it was closed. There were no hours posted, so hard to know when it is open. Driving tip: If coming from the beach (Barre de Potosi) it is easy to miss as there were no signs coming from that direction and the large stone entrance faces the road coming from Hwy 200.

I gave it 5 stars because I had to put something there in order to post this.
