The hotel has great architecture and is beautiful as you can gather from the pictures I uploaded, and is conveniently located. Bedrooms and bathrooms are clean. There's is a certain scent to the Historical building not because of uncleanness but the natural old building aroma. Not a deal breaker, not for me at least

This is a 400 year old hotel in the historic part of town. There have been some upgrades to the rooms but basically there need to be more, to the entire hotel, especially to justify their rates. The bathroom was a real experience. The shower curtain enclosed not only the shower head but the sink as well (where the electric outlet, hairdryer & light were located). Luckily the water pressure was not strong enough to reach the electric outlet. The windows facing the street could not be locked or even closed from inside. There was no safe in the room and the front desk safety deposit box was a brown envelope placed in a locked drawer at the desk. Having said all this, the bed was comfortable and the room was clean.

The location of the hotel is great - close to the outdoor plazas, museums, fountains, statues, shops, and food. Spotlights accentuate the old buildings at night. The hotel posts prices for tours and taxis to different areas of the city. The Zoo was definitely a highlight.

For our return to the main bus depot on Sunday, we ordered a taxi. The new car that showed up had no taxi markings but the desk assured us it was a taxi. When we arrived at our destination, the asking price was higher than the price listed at the hotel...because it was Sunday, because it was so far, etc. We paid him the price listed at the hotel but he was not happy. A private deal with the hotel desk, perhaps??

Only stay here if you cannot get another hotel within 100 km. They don’t have half the things they advertise, staff unfriendly and rude. No bar, fountain in lobby not working, no elevator for guests even if handicapped. Couldn’t wait to check out and move to new hotel Hacienda del Sol in Tonala which is wonderful. Never will return.

This was the worst hotel We have ever stayed in. The staff was not helpful with any of our service. The elevator didn’t work for people only staff. The shower and was basin was very small and the water even sprayed the toilet. No bar or bartender in the two days and evenings. The fountain in the courtyard had no water. The room small hardly room for three small suitcase the closet door didn’t slid open so you couldn’t hang anything in there.
I don’t recommend anyone pay 800 pesos to stay their

Our room was small, on the street Maestanza, but comfortable. WiFi, breakfast in the attached restauant, cable TV, This is a historical hotel dating back to the 1600's. Lovely ambience & staff, accommodating. Our friends had much larger rooms than we had, for the same price ! But we were settled.
This hotel is close to the Cathedral, double decker Tapatio Tour bus ( a must do ), also large walking promenades, restaurants, shopping. We parked our car in the hotel garage (down the street, but they have Valet parking ) and did not use it for 2 days.
The breakfast buffet is very reasonable, lots of choices (Mexican) , but you can also order off the menu.
