Good if going for business
No spa
The pool area has no shade no tables to put your drink.
They used to have spa but is closed.
Down stairs ha a couple of shops.
But the nice thing is that you have the big mall across street.
The location is great!

Very nice. I go to Guaf several times a year. First time at this hotel. Arrived early and the concierge was very nice in getting a room for us since we arrived on delayed red-eye. Offered us an upgrade for larger and better room with additional courtesies that was reasonable. Room had a wonderful west facing view.spectacular sunsets. Room was spacious, clean, and bed very comfortable. Great location. Nice pools and gym facilities. Good AC. Lovely tub... With floor to ceiling windows of view. Unfortunately when we wanted to use it turned out to be out of service. Executive amenities and breakfast were very good. Customer service excellent. I had an issue with a dress and was taken to the sew room by Elvia from housekeeping who went out of her way to help. Ladies downstairs do a great job. Definitely recommend and would return.

We have stayed here many times and are always pleased with the rooms and the service. It is worth the upgrade to the club level for the breakfast and the included happy hour. We look forward to many more stays here as it is conveniently located right across from Plaza del Sol.

Stayed here for a conference. The hotel as with most interncontinental hotels offers great comfort. The rooms have been revamped and now offer a sleek and modern design. The food is very good and the hotel offers 24 hour room service, great for when arriving on a late flight. The desk in the room is large and offers great working space. It is located next to a small plaza with random shops and a chillis. it also next to a sanborns which sells almost everything you can think of. The only observation is that they should offer airport shuttle services.

Room Tip: Choose a high floor room facing towards the back street and not the avenue.

Beautiful hotel in a great location. The rooms are modern & spacious with a lovely bathroom, huge, comfortable bed & plenty of space to work. What really sets this hotel apart is the service. The General Manager and all of his staff pay attention to all the little details of your stay to make their guests feel very special!

This is a former Hyatt hotel, which accounts for the architectural style; atrium with glass elevators. The hotel has been updated fairly recently. The rooms are attractive and well appointed. The bathrooms--particularly the showers--are great. Parts of the lobby were on the dark side, perhaps a bid for energy conservation. The location is not at the center of town, but still accessible by cab. The staff was uniformly friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet offers a variety of options from made to order omelettes to Mexican dishes. The wait staff brings what appears to be a hat rack to your table to hold ladies purses. Lunch/dinner options are also quite good--almost good enough to be a destination for locals. Taxis are readily available. Unlike many hotels, they don't change dollars into local currency, which requires a trip to a change office. We did not check this facility for meeting rooms, so cannot comment on this for business meetings, but many businessmen were staying at the hotel.

I stayed at El Presidente over the holidays while visiting friends in the area. The hotel lobby and public facilities have seen better days (it appears to be stuck in the late 70s) though this could be overlooked if the management and front desk staff weren't so arrogant. The Club and restaurant waitstaff are terrific, however the front desk staff give the impression that every inquiry or request is an inconvenience (particularly if posed in English). My room had a non-working air conditioning unit, yet a request for a room change (after waiting two days for a repair) was met with attitude. The front desk staff were long on excuses and short on solutions. As the hotel was nearly empty (and I'm Platinum Elite), this seemed not only perplexing but inappropriate.

Unlike the public spaces, the rooms have been refurbished and are spacious and attractive. The club level rooms have Nespresso machines but the pod prices are ridiculously inflated, so beware. Additionally, El Presidente does not recognize all IHG Platinum Elite benefits, insisting that some (like upgrades and wifi) are only available to those who pay for Ambassador status (!).

The gym is tiny, with limited cardio and a few free weights. The pool is also small, and thru some odd architectural reasoning, gets no direct sun during the day at that time of year, so sunbathing isn't possible. Running or walking in Ixtapa is doable, but the area is bland compared with nearby Guadelajara's "quaint-colonial- meets-gritty-city" feel.

The food in the main restaurant was good but not particularly memorable, though the service was great (hard to be otherwise with only two guests!).

This Presidente gets zero re-election votes.
