Overall hotel was wonderful. The view from our room was worth it. Simple rooms. Staff great. Breakfast included in price is very simple, continental. Coffee was weak but tasty. Walk up to hotel is not easy if you are out of shape and are affected by altitude. It was hard for me but well worth the climb. Safe hotel and very close to Jardin de la Union. Bring ear plugs, city sounds! Rockets, church bells in early morning. Highly recommend. We paid around $75 night.

Room Tip: Luna room amazing view

Just stayed in this hotel 2 days ago, the site is breathtaking as the hotel is located on top of the hill, near the center though however we moved down to the center as it is kinda high to climb up and down, more than 88 steps I think, not really accessible, the service is great and the rooms are pretty

Dirty bathroom, no hot water, unsecure room that couldn't be locked and led the maid to invade the room while we were sleeping. Poor and greasy breakfast. Unpolite staff that mocked on us when we asked for help. Not to mention the awful stairways. And it's expensive comparing to much better options in Guanajuato! We don't have a single good thing to tell about this lousy hotel. The worst hotel experience of a lifetime!

Love it!!!!! Wonderful hotel, spectacular view, great location, and amazing service from the whole staff. Highly recommended.Walking distance to the Teatro Juarez, and the plaza where all the action takes place (music, restaurants, stores and where the famous callejonadas start). We couldn't ask for a better location to stay.

Room Tip: We stayed at the Toblerone room and we loved everything about it!

We stayed in the room called trufa. The view from the private terrace was incredible. The staff was very friendly and a few spoke some English. Those who did not were very patient with my Spanish. The steps leading from street level to this hotel were a challenge but each time it got easier. Noises from outside including mariachi bands and nighttime tours in the streets could be disconcerting but once the sun was up and you were on the terrace the sensational view made the night noises not seem all that bad.

Guanajuato is and amazing place but to get to the hotel was a nightmare! Parking is on the other side of town! Had to go and come back walking. The hotel has the most amazing view but beware, you have to climb stairs to get to it and to do so with your luggage. The rooms were clean but nothing out of the ordinary and a bit cold (we were there in December, winter). But the view is so breathtaking that it makes it worth all the hassle.

Several rooms have terraces that overlook Guanajuato. No room numbers, just seven rooms named after different chocolates. I stayed two nights in Trufa, with a nice terrace overlooking Templo San Diego, Jardin de la Union, and the historic center of Guanajuato. Just a few more meters above is the monument El Pipila. I stayed during the off-season and was able to obtain a better price for the room. During the Cervantino Festival room prices almost double. I speak spanish so I had no trouble communicating with the staff, who are mostly young, and helpful, though I never have many questions for the staff.

The room was large, modern, with the interior bedstand and night tables, adjacent furniture all matching, with a motif in wood of the Catedral de Guanajuato. Nice large king bed, firm mattress (as are beds in Mexico) with very nice bedspread and arrangement of pillows. Shower was nice, with hot water both day and night. The continental breakfast may not be much, and the service may at times be slow, so why bother when for a few pesos you can eat anywhere?

The steep stairs to reach the hotel are your introduction to Guanajuato. The hotel staff assisted me with my luggage, let them know prior to your arrival, and when you arrive so that they can organize their staff to assist you.

If you are not terribly fit, you may have trouble going up. Guanajuato is a wonderful city, lots of youth, always a party at the Jardin de la Union, and else where. The Callejoneadas occur every night leaving from Templo San Diego.

Bring a flashlight in case of a short loss of electricity, as happened on both nights, for a few minutes to an hour... not a huge inconvenience, and typical in latin america....

Rooms all face the city. At night some noise from Jardin de la Union reaches you, but is not an issue. There are other terraces from bars/restaurants nearby but were not a noise issue.
There is NO AIR-CONDITIONING, Guanajuato generally is not terribly hot.

Enjoy your stay in a wonderful city!

Room Tip: Get a room with a terrace!
