I stayed at La Casa de Pita for 4 months in 2007 and 2008. Doña Pita treated me like a member of her own family. She went out of her way to make every guest that came through her doors feel like they were truly at home.
Every day I awoke to enjoy breakfasts made with love and care. If you have any questions about Guanajuato, breakfast is the perfect time to ask Doña Pita. Her expert advice can help guide you to the countless cultural gems that Guanajuato has to offer. Her extensive knowledge of the surrounding area is an indispensable asset that any visitor should utilize.
Stepping out of Doña Pita's front door, a short stroll in any direction will lead you to some of Guanajuato's most incredible sites. If you turn to your right and walk about 10 or 12 steps around the corner, you will find yourself in the Plaza Mexiamora. An adorable little plaza filled with the laughter of children playing. If you turn to your left from Pita's home and take the steps down to the Teatro Principal, you'll find yourself heading into the heart of Guanajuato's quaint downtown.
Just a couple minutes walk to El Jardin de la Uñion, you can spend hours sitting underneath the laurel trees, listening to live music, and watching the Guanajatenses enjoying life surrounded by such an amazing little paradise.
Doña Pita helped arrange Spanish lessons for me and daily trips around the area; to museums, theaters, and art galleries that line the narrow streets around her home. No matter where I went, I was always surprised by the beauty that I found and I always felt at home when I returned to the comfort of the bed and breakfast.
In the evenings, you can sit out on the terrace above La Casa de Pita and watch the sun as it slowly sinks down below the mountains, slipping behind the domes of the cathedrals, imbuing the skies above the city with endless hues of pink.
I have never seen a place so beautiful, with people so kind, in a home so welcoming. A trip to Guanajuato has the power to change your soul. It will inspire memories that never leave you. My stay at La Casa de Pita will forever remain one of the favorite experiences of my life.

Room Tip: Many of the rooms have little kitchens and the market is always full of fresh, local ingredients.

We had 3 nights at Casa de Pita. The 300 year old building is an attraction in itself with the view of the town from the roofop terrace being a real highlight.

Paty the owner and her staff and family were super friendly and helpful. And the included breakfast was very nice.

We stayed in two different rooms - both being very comfortable and a bit quirky.

And it was all very reasonably priced. We really liked it here.

Room Tip: They're all good

This place is not worth the money charged.Had booked 6 night in the classic suite. If you are a large person or have difficulty with stairs DO NOT attempt to stay here. Just getting to the front door requires numerous steps and pulling your luggage up 30+degree slopes for. Took my money immediately prior to seeing room. Narrow steep stairs going to second floor where they serve a basic breakfast and was my room. Classic suite is 2 levels. First level has a couple comfy arm chairs and other furniture that is only for looks.Bathroom is very small with NO place for toiletries except a small rack above toilet. Shower trickles no pressure. A narrow spiral staircase leeds to bedroom on second level. Watch your footing on narrow steeps.Cannot get a siutcase up there so you would have to carry your clothes. Bed was comfy with a warm duvet. Temp were around 8celcius at night and next morning everyone were wearing jackets while eating breakfast. You freeze coming out of the trickling shower to dry off and then put on cold clothes. No heater. No bottled water but they have a water filter. Good breeding ground for germs. How often do they change it?? I requested a different room as the spiral stairs were too steep and narrow. They did put me in a smaller basic room next day on the same floor opposite the first. There was No hot water tap in the sink and when I sat on the bed I could smell something. The pillows upon inspection were badly sweat stained and very stinky. Did not have proper pillow cases on them just pillow slips. When you look past the obvious there is dust on the shelves and ledges as every inch of them have some sort of nicnac. We left on second day and were not asked why or offered a refund.BE WARNED!!!!

This b&b is so cute. The rooms are all different and eclectic. The beds huge and oh so comfy! Everyone was so friendly. Breakfast was different everyday. The view from the roof was lovely. The location - perfect. Close to everything but just off the main drag so it was quiet. Rooms were clean.

Wifi however was patchy in our room, but our friends room was fine. So depends where in the house you are. But common areas have good coverage. Not a big deal for us as we'd rather be out exploring beautiful Guanajuato than sitting on the internet.

I would definitely stay here again.

I was with a group of 3 motorcycle guys touring Mexico. Merrill, our leader, had stayed at Pita's previously and had it booked for us. I was very happy with my room, the breakfast, and everything about the place. We were there for two nights in February of 2015 if I remember right. Great view from the rooftop patio, good sleeping and interesting customers at breakfast. Beautiful place.

Room Tip: I had the room which had a separate entrance from the street and it was nice.
