We were told we were given a quiet room. The quiet rooms are overlooking the quadrangle / reception area. Every noise can be heard from here. Also this room was directly below the restaurant kitchen, all noise from above can be heard here. The bathroom window is part of the void between buildings and possibly the rubbish is located at the bottom, all of the smell of stale rubbish comes in through the bathroom.

Right on the corner of Zocaro Square. The hotel faces the Cathedral and Palace. We were there during the Christmas holiday and the enormous Christmas tree was right in front of the hotel. Could not ask for a better location. If you do tours such as on viator, Zocalo is the starting point for many tours. Restaurants, bars, sights, and festive crowds were around in every direction.

The breakfast was fine, though the omelette bar was only on the weekend. The staff was helpful. The rooms could use an upgrade, but we were not in them long enough to feel put out.

Only drawback was that wifi was everywhere but the connections were still poor.

This hotel had its pros and cons

pros: location, literally on Madero street in front of Zocalo, metro station, shopping area, ice skating ring etc.
The view from room 208 was beautiful, looks out into the zocalo.

cons: noise level is bad specially if your room faces the zocalo its worse! ask for a room inland.
also wifi is terrible in room 208, you miat go outside if not it doesn't work.
beds are pretty uncomfortable, only get two sheets which sucks because it gets very cold.
The shower was pretty disgusting, old ripped towels, shower drain not working.

Location is great, close to many touristic spots and good restaurants. Staff is quite friendly and helpfull. From the hotel, you can walk to several atractions, like the Zocalo Squarte, Latino Americana Tower and Mexico City Cathedral. The only problem is the bathroom, which leaks a lot of water everytime someone takes a shower, making a real mess. To sum up, it is a very good call to stay for a few days, maybe not for a long stay.

We've gone to Mexico City 6 times over the last 20 years. It is an exciting intense world class place. Can't say enough about how much I love this grand city. The last 5 times we stayed at the Hotel Canada, which is a basic Zocalo hotel but comfortable. This time we stayed at the Best Western Hotel Majestic. Everything the other reviewers said was true. Location location, etc. It could not be surpassed.
However, the historic building with beautiful architecture lacks inside the guest rooms. We had a maid service that did not clean the room for two days. We had to tell the front desk to have them clean it up. Every day, the tub filled up with water and took hours to drain. The bathroom sink was the same. The maid would forget a towel or washcloth, toilet paper or bath soap. The wi fi sucked. You could not get everything cleaned or replenished on one day. The beds were very firm and old and the sheets worn. It was annoying to have to get an elevator with a person who controlled it when the elevator came. We know how to get the elevator by ourselves! One guy was very friendly and helpful, but the other guys who ran the elevator were nosy, 'where's your friend? why aren't you with him, where did you go today," etc....The rooftop 'restaurant' if you could call it that, was tacky and overpriced. However, the view was great!
This is a place to stay to get in on all the intensity of the Centro, but if having been to Mexico City more than the first time. and looking for a comfortable room, spend a few more dollars to stay in a better quality place in the area. Next time we will, as there are much better places in the same area. They need to upgrade their rooms and servicios.
