Description: I ate at many of the restaurants listed in trip advisor over an 8 day period in Oaxaca. Decided to try this place because it was always crowded with the mixture of Mexican and non Mexican tourists. The food was from the isthmus of Mexico. Authenic but different than the usual Oaxacan cuisine which became repetitious after a while. The food was different, with a lot of " I wonder how they make this sauce, dip, drink?" It was not fusion gitzy food that a lot of the higher rated restaurants on your trip advisor restaurant list present to the tourists.

Because we didnt want to spent too much time we only had a maincourse for two persons. 7 small dishes in total balance.
Very, very tastfull. 450 pesos for two. What do you want more? The answer is simple. Go back!

This delightful restaurant was recommended by a Mexican friend. They specialise is regional cuisine. The decor is informal but stylish; the staff are delightful and happy to help with the menu. We asked for recommendations and chose the pork ribs and wedding special from the main courses, although the Black Mole was also recommended. Both were pleasant but neither dish lived up to the description. Perhaps Mexican food is just not one of the world’s great cuisines. There are many other reasons to enjoy Oaxaca and Mexico though.

We came to Oaxaca for a week. We ate here three times because we loved it. The free appetizers, ground fish and pickled onions, were great. So was a giant frozen tamarind margarita. The black mole was a great main dish. Nicely decorated and clean as well.

We had a delicious meal here. The mescal cocktail collection is fun and tasty. The place was busy until closing time and beyond. Service was excellent. The only reason I did not mark it excellent is that our meat (short ribs, Oaxaca style...if I recall correctly) dish was not off the chart delicious.

We stumbled upon this place our first night and found it hard to beat for the rest of the week. the staff are super nice and knowledgeable, they have a great list of mezcal, and the food was delicious. the atmosphere was perfect. we liked it so much that we came back again our last night. the cocktail i had was with tamarind and mezcal, and on the last night i had some mezcal served with the oranges and three varieties of salt. between us we had the tamal de mole negro, tamal de elote, the plantain fritters with cheese and crema, and tlayudas. i had done a lot of research beforehand and had not discovered this place. i would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting oaxaca!
