“Awesome resort!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 April 2012

We stayed from March 25th through April 1st and loved every minute. The staff was so attentive and friendly that you really wanted to tip them although it wasn't required. They would help you with anything. The resort was small which we liked. Not a fancy place by any stretch but definitely very clean. I'll give a brief rundown of all categories.
Room- We booked a club ocean room and the view was amazing. We had a hot tub which was funl to chill out in. They also gave us fruit and champagne. The mini fridge was stocked daily with beer, water, sodas and juices. Everything was very clean and modern. The lighting was fine in our bathroom and only a bit dim in the main area. The closet was spacious. Although the safe required a manual lock (rather than the normal pin code) it did the job. We received a free lunch cruise with the club room which turned out to be really fun. It was more of a booze cruise with drinking games and dancing. We would definitely recommend it if you like to party. We also received a dinner in the room which ended up being good, but rather drawn out. It might be better for older couples who like to keep to themselves. We hung out with new friends in a standard lagoon view room as well and their room seemed just as nice but didn't have as many bells and whistles.
Beach- beautiful sand and ocean. It was very spacious and well groomed. There were always plenty of chairs but if you need a papalla you should get there before nine. Wait staff serviced the beach frequently but the beach bar was never too far away.
Pool- the entertainment staff did a great job keeping the party going with various interactive activities. We really liked pool beer pong and tequila volley ball. There seemed to always be enough chairs and you could even bring them in the shallow area of water. Wait staff also serviced this area but the tiki bar is right there if you need it.
Food- We enjoyed all the restaurants. My favorite was sumo, it had a good sushi and cooked food selection. My fiancé liked the old barn best especially the filet. Shangra la was good but I did find the sauces on the entrees to be a bit heavy for my taste. Pier 4 was also tasty but service was a bit slow on the night that we went. The breakfast and lunch buffets were decent and seemed to have something for everyone. The breeze cafe was great for late night snacks. All in all you have to remember that it's an all inclusive resort in Mexico and food won't be comparable to your favorite restaurant back home. I don't go on vacation for the food so my rating of the resort would not be based on that.
Entertainment- the entertainment staff is the best I've seen at an all inclusive. They really seem to get to know everyone and are always available to the guests. The games that they organize are definitely party and adult oriented which we liked. The Michael Jackson show was good and the performers were very talented. We also saw the Elvis show which was really funny and Carlos did a great job as Elvis. We didn't see the grease show but heard good things about it. Karaoke in the sixties bar was funny to hear ad watch.
Nightlife- almost every night the tiki bar seemed to be the place to go to party. The bartenders there are awesome. They were very generous with shots and even try getting girls on the bar for body shots. They have their own party cd's and also let anyone plug their iPod in for the bar to listen to. The sixties bar was always pretty dead later in the evening but it was fun to play pool there after dinner. Every night the entertainment crew sponsors a trip out to downtown cancun to one of the clubs. You pay a set amount and get transportation to the club, VIP entrance and seating and unlimited bottle service. You are responsible for getting home. Coco bongo and senior frogs also sponsor trips similar to this on select nights through the resort. We went with the entertainment staff to Bulldog one night. It was a very fun night however my fiancée got too dunk and we had to leave earlier than I would have liked. We payed $9 for the cab ride home.
Guests- the people we met at this resort were the nicest I've ever met. It just seemed like most of the guests were interested in chatting and getting to know new people. Hardly anyone came off as stuffy and everyone seemed to be in a partying and fun mood. If you're more interested in having a quiet and romantic vacation you could do that as well. There were definitely areas to relax and escape other people.
Staff- AMAZING, I'm serious you will want to tip them. They are all hard workers especially the bartenders, maids and concierge (we loved Maru).

We had no issues checking into the room that we had booked nor did we meet anyone who had this problem or hear of anyone being bumped to the great parnassus.

All in all we had a wonderful vacation thanks to the golden parnassus and we will definitely be back : ). My one regret was that we booked an all day excursion to Isla Mujeres (it was okay but we would have rather been at the golden all day).

Room Tip: Choose a club room if you want a mini fridge and hot tub. Also you get a fun lunch cruise (skip the...

The Golden Parnassus has everything you need from friendly faces, to new friends, and great memories. Food is the best I´ve ever had at any resort or hotel I´ve ever been, very americanized and delicious! Don´t have one bad review!

The entertainment staff really goes out of their way to get to know you, and are always there if you need anything at all. We were a group of 9 friends and made many more during our time here.

Excellent resort, will definitely be coming back soon!!

Room Tip: We stayed on the 4th floor lagoon view and still had a view of the other side of the water strip. Si...

overall it was a great holiday at the GP.

Positives:
Public relations (Maru) and customer service in restaurants and bars at its best! Too many waitstaff to name that provide excellent service. Pool service from Juvencio just awesome! Cleaning/Maintenance staff doing an awesome job. Management very visible and appear helpful to "overly busy" staff.

Staff at Reception desk have definitely improved.

Food quality can either be a hit or miss some days in Shangrila and the Barn. Pier 12 was consistently good. Sumo (Japanese) mediocre at best! Paradise very good (buffet and made to order eggs/italian dishes/mexican/oriental).

Beverages ie alcohol some thought were watered down but what I had I did not think they were.

Entertainment staff more energetic and engaging than the past.

Negatives:

Reservations - not sure who is in charge but definitely needs improvement! Booked deluxe ocean view and was given lagoon view (Antonio quickly rectified this). Spoke to two couples who booked lagoon view and were given ocean view. One couple booked Golden (6th) and were given a room on 2nd floor (booked through Expedia, not happy and no recourse).

Given a room on 2nd floor (deluxe ocean view) overlooking red concrete with minimal ocean view, thank you again to Antonio for moving me to 4th.

Chair hogging continues...have to be up by 6AM to get a palapa!

Bumping continues so I would suggest getting confirmation/guarantee (upgrade) from travel agent in the event that you are the chosen one to get bumped.

And lastly: Rooms with minimal ocean view should NOT be considered deluxe ocean view (full ocean view only) and be at a lower rate. I would rather be on the lagoon side rather than be in any of these rooms.

I hope to return for my 5th visit next year. It is not a 5* but it is a great resort in terms of customer service, cleanliness, smaller adult only resort and fun, friendly guests and staff.

Room Tip: Higher floor (4th/5th or 6th) if booked oceanview.

Loved the Adults only. We arrived early in the day and we were not bumped to the great, thank God! We talked to several people who were bumped. We booked a room with two queens and ended up with a King bed, didn't care, didn't want to be bumped to the great. We also didn't want to unpack and repack to move to another room. The front desk staff was awesome. They were always very helpful. Went to the old barn twice and was disappointed twice, SLOW service. Loved catching the bus out front. Staff was great, all of them!! We took the ferry to Isla M, loved that too. Food and drinks were great.

Staff & accommodations were great. Food good. Weather perfect. Enjoyed the week. This was our second visit to Golden and we hope not the last. We love how all the staff has smiles on their faces and work so hard to please the guests. We love that the Golden is a smaller hotel. There are plenty of spaces at the beach.

Room Tip: Suggest you ask for ocean view. Breathtaking!

My wife and I along with another couple just returned from a long weekend at the Golden Parnassus. My wife and I had been to Cancun a few other times and stayed at the mega resorts. To our delight, the Golden Parnassus was very manageable. My wife at one point felt like she was at adult camp because she kept seeing the same faces each day.

The hotel itself was very nice, the rooms were clean and comfy and the restaurants were never crowded and they served good food. The staff was very accomodating. The beach was beautiful and the pool was refreshing. The hotel does like to have games - drinking and non-drinking especially at the pool - throughout the day, which I could I have done without but everyone had a great time.

I would definitely return to the Golden Parnassus.

This was a great place. The service was great the entertainment staff was great. Give a shout out to Oscar at the buffet and his brother from a different mother same father Paschal. If you go you must seek out these two ,you can find Oscar at the buffet and Paschal at the shangria la. They made our trip a very memorable trip. The hotel was very clean and everyone went out of there way to make sure we were having a great time. We can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: Stay on the left side of hotel away from the lobby bar
