We just returned from Mexic where we stayed at JW Marriott, Cancun. Had a great time at the hotel and really enjoyed the facilities. The atmosphere was really relaxing and staff was very helpfull. Also went diving with Francisco and had an amazing time.

The only thing, we thought was missing was music. I heard a lot of other guests asking for it but unfortunately -apparently- it's the 4 Diamonds hotel's policy

The JW Marriott Cancun Resort and Spa provided an exceptional experience for our family over Spring Break. This review will hopefully provide a glimpse for those interested in staying at the property.

We opted to participate in the Club 91 program while staying at the resort. The JW Marriott makes it clear that their Club 91 program is not an executive floor but rather a separate way of experiencing their property. It includes a number of benefits including direct transfers from the airport, multiple food presentations throughout the day, cocktails, concierge services, etc. It is hard to pinpoint exactly why, but the Club 91 program really is different than other “concierge floor” programs I have experienced. They do limit the number of guests who can participate which does allow for a much more intimate environment. This must have been a conscious decision of the JW since they could have obviously opted for a much larger program if they simply wanted to make as much money as possible.

Our room for our stay was the Presidential Suite on the 14th floor. The 14th floor is the highest floor of the property, and the Presidential Suite is in very close proximity to both the elevators as well as the Club lounge. According to the JW website, the suite includes 2,947 square feet with 1,168 square feet of outdoor living space. Those dimensions seem quite accurate to me based on our experience. The doorbell for the suite includes a video camera so you can see who is outside. Upon entering the suite, there is an expansive salon including several areas to sit as well as a full dining room table. Near the dining room table is a separate kitchen with a small microwave, full size refrigerator, dishwasher, and various dishes/glasses. The main salon has a very high ceiling which adds to the grandeur of the area. Also, there are three separate sets of sliding doors from the salon that lead directly to the balcony. To the left of the salon is a smaller sitting room with a couch, two chairs, and a fairly large flat screen television. Opposite that room is an office area with a work table which includes a telephone, a video phone connected to the front doorbell camera, as well cables and plugs to connect your computer. The master bedroom in directly to the left of that area and is quite impressive in its own right. I would estimate the master bedroom is approximately 800 square feet just by itself and has several sitting areas and a large flat screen television. The master bathroom has a large Jacuzzi tub and a separate shower with multiple water jets. A large walk-in closet is adjacent to the bathroom with a small sitting area in between. There is a second bathroom directly adjacent to the entryway for guests. Overall, the suite is very well organized and furnished. There are nice touches throughout including artwork which make for a very refined atmosphere. The balcony is quite large and has great views of the beach and water. There are multiple sets of cushioned furniture that allow for a nice outdoor experience.

The JW Marriott Cancun has a very nice system of pools and beach access. The majority of pools are interconnected with arched walkways traversing over the water. Two areas in the main pool area are quite shallow for toddlers and small children. The remainder of the pools are a touch less than 5 feet in maximal depth. Two hot tubs are also located in the main pool area. Towels are available in a central location near the pools although having more areas for towel distribution would certainly be an area of improvement. The beach area includes numerous umbrella huts and chairs. We never had a problem getting a nice space on the beach even though we were there over Spring Break when presumably the property was reasonably crowded.

The restaurants at the JW Marriott were very good in quality and preparation. We were able to try basically all the restaurants through either the Club 91 offerings or through visiting the restaurants in the evening. Of note, the food offerings at Club 91 are quite elaborate and very representative of the restaurants at the JW. For example, a sushi chef prepared made-to-order sushi one evening in addition to multiple other options. Sodas and bottled water are available throughout the day in the Club. They do ask that all items be consumed in the Club and not be removed.

The Spa is very reflective of the quality of the property in general. My daughter had a hair appointment and was very satisfied with the experience. The exercise area has ample equipment and is very comfortable. The Club 91 experience also allows you to use the upper floor of the Spa which includes the typical steam rooms and saunas one would expect.

We found the staff interactive and engaging. In particular, the concierge staff of Club 91 was excellent.

There is really very little else I can add about our experience. We had an outstanding visit to Cancun and are already planning a return visit. The Presidential Suite as well as the Club 91 experience certainly added to our level of satisfaction although even a standard room would likely yield a similar level of comfort.

It was conveniently located about 15 mins to the party zone by a bus/taxi. The bus stop is in front of the hotel along the highway. We wanted to party but not necessary stay in that area in the day time. The service was wonderful and the restaurant was empty. The food was good but the service was even better. We had a very nice ocean view room that also overlooked the beautiful pool. There is also a Papa John, tour operator, and The Crab house is in walking distance. The Crab House was amazing, we had to eat there twice! Much better than the popular Lobster place that we also tried.

I want to first state that I made my reservations through Amercian Express Travel. I have used them for years with little or any problems. The JW Marriott came highly recommended, so I thought i would give them a try. Their rate was not the cheepest, but did offer a high level of quality and service for the dollar. The resort is very clean, safe and has excellent food, pool and beach facilites. You are always well cared for. Very attentive service. The two man team that cleaned are room did an excellent job. The waiters both in the restaurants, pool and beachside were amazing. By the end of the week they knew us by name. I think this is better than they typical hotel experience in Cancun. I very much compare it to its sister hotel The Ritz Carlton. We have stayed at this poperty 7 or 8 times in the last 15 years. The JW Marriott is just about as good, but with a better budget. Now for the not so good.

I reserved a Premium Ocean View Room with 2 double beds. JW Marriott said it is American Express Travels fault. Amex says it is JW Marriotts fault... I dont care whose fault it is. I did not get what I paid for. No one at the front desk ever said they were sorry for me being inconvenienced. They did ask me if I wanted to find another hotel... not a good option on Spring Break in Cancun.

So, confirm with the hotel your room type before you travel to JW Marriott in Cancun. You will not get much help out of the front desk. I think that has been confirmed on Trip Advisor more than once and it is true. The saving grace to this resort is everyone esle. From the Doorman to housekeeping to the restuarant staff, they are supreme!!! The front desk needs to learn to say these simple words, "I am sorry!!! What can we do do make it better!"

Room Tip: Contact the Hotel directly with your confirmation number... get a reply in writing with your room ty...

I stayed at the "JW" because I wanted a quiet and safe place in Cancun. It fulfilled my expections of a quiet and peaceful hotel with mostly adults and some business groups. Everyone was respectful and were there to relax by the pool or beach. Yes, when I arrived I opened the drapes and said aloud "OMG" as the view from the balcony room was
was spectacular. You can also choose to shut off the air conditioning and open the huge glass doors and be lulled to sleep with the soothing sounds of the surf,
I would suggest this hotel to anyone who wants peace and quiet without the party atmosphere of the many all-inclusives of Cancun. The beds and pillows are wonderful. Also, they do have 2 lovely female singers in the lounge at night if you don't care to venture out.
The Thai restaurant over at the Casa Magna is excellent and in a lovely setting.

Stayed here at beginning of March for a week. Everything was wonderful. The staff is great and the hotel is in a perfect location. The rooms show a bit of wear, but nothing excessive. We have stayed at the J.W. and the Marriott next door frequently. I have no preference between the two and pick whichever offers the best deal. You can't go wrong with either one!
