We stayed 5 nights at this hotel in our vacation trip to Cancun. We had a king size bed and a crib for our baby daughter with a side view to the ocean.

The location of the hotel is right in the middle of the Zona Hotelera (hotel zone), right in front of the beach. The hotel is grand and luxurious with a conventions center feel to it.

We found the room a bit small, nice furnishings and the bathroom is a little dated, although everything is well maintained. Most days we left our room early and came back in the early afternoon for a quick refresh and found our room still not done by housekeeping. We finally called after a few days and got the issue corrected. Also, at this level of hotel you would expect some perks included such as WiFi, however, there is a daily $15 for it.

There is a 7 Eleven, and OXXO (convenience store), a McDonald's and a Papa John's within walking distance of the hotel. There is also a little fish taco place next to the Crab House restaurant with excellent fish and shrimp tacos (15 MEX pesos each! about US $1) which are worth trying. Also, if you stand near the Crab House restaurant you can use their WiFi for free! :)

For transportation, we also recommend the local buses which are US$1 per trip. We suggest choosing the nicer buses (digital signs on top) which have WiFi on them.

Overall our experience with this hotel was good and would recommend it for your visit. I hope they work on some of the smaller details.

Traveled for business (unlucky) stayed at a "garden view" room which has an INCREDIBLE balcony with view to one of the gardens BUT still with a view to the Sea... is not a FRONT view but still you get to see the ocean... its was a very nice experience.

Room Tip: Garden View rooms still have "side view" of the oceans. Stay at 3rd Floor for bigger balco...

After a week at this Marriott property, we were so sad to leave. This has to be one of the nicest properties Marriott offers. 1st Class amenities, and a staff that caters to your every need. Gorgeous inside and out. There are so many all-inclusive properties in Cancun; but I would have to say I would not trade this hotel for all those all-inclusive's put together. Do not hesitate to book this one...you will not regret it!

Room Tip: All the rooms have either an ocean view, or lagoon view. Water views every which way you look!

I have stayed at this property 4 times and each has been great. Not OUTSTANDING, but very nice. I have also stayed at the J.W. Marriott next door. I like staying at the Casa Magna better because it has a little more of a relaxed beachy feel with the open air hallways. The rooms are typical for a beach property, nothing is too nice that you feel bad tracking in some sand or wet bathing suits, but very comfortable. The breakfast buffet is outstanding. I am not a buffet person, but LOVE it here. If you can get a rate with breakfast included I highly recommend since it is $25 pp otherwise. All of the staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful The only 2negatives I had is that when asking about local area restaurants if you can even get a recommendation for something outside the hotel at all no one will even mention anything but the most mediocre touristy spots. We asked one lady and specified we would like something local, not touristy - a place she might even go for a special occasion. We could not even look at each other when Carlos and Charlie's came out of her mouth. The second is that when we had our lounge at the pool/beach day my friend mentioned it was her birthday we had lunch and margaritas while out, and the waiter brought us each another "special" margarita and did a little happy birthday thing. Cute until we realized he charged for it and it was more expensive than what we had been drinking! Beach is amazing, nice pool, small spa but you can also book at the J.W. spa next door which has much more wow factor. Good for friends, couples, or a family vacation!

Room Tip: We were a little nervous when we saw ours was by the elevator, but never heard a peep. I usually li...

First, the staff: Bellman, front desk, concierge, pool, beach, and maid service were so friendly. We felt right at home. Staying on the third floor is definitely worth asking for. We were upgraded to a 3rd floor room facing straight out to the beach & ocean...the patio on this room must have been 12 feet square!! The hotel is across the street from Aquaworld for water activities and there's also a 7-11 and OxxO if you want to stock up on snacks. Room was in good shape...yes, the beds a doubles, so it's a little crowded for 4 people.
We had drinks in the lobby bar...very gracious service and some music to enjoy, ate at the Japanese Restaurant...it was just ok, Champions Sports Bar was good for drinks and watching the games...food was nothing special, service was excellent
.
All in all, I'd go back to The Casa Magna with no hesitation...we loved our stay.

Room Tip: Third Floor!!

I had stayed here for a meeting 12 years ago, and when I had the chance to get away with the family for a week vacation to Cancun, I jumped on it and came right back. This is a fantastic place, and everything a family can want - location, ocean, pool/hot tub, great facility. I got the 2-breakfast included option online (recommended) and rented a car for the week. I was a bit worried about driving in Mexico, but got the insurance and went for it. Now, I wouldn't do it any other way. We traveled >500 miles in the Yucatan visiting Mayan ruins and natural attractions - the freedom of having one's own car is great. Just don't do anything you wouldn't normally do at home (e.g. speeding or driving into shady neighborhoods at night) and you are fine with the car. Recommended: the Botanical Garden off of the main highway near Porto Morales. Required: a trip to Isla Mujeras and renting a golf cart. We got the $40/day upgrade at CasaMagna for a room right at the end of the building over the ocean - definitely recommended. This is a great hotel.

Room Tip: Get the rooms directly facing the ocean on either the north or the south wings of the building.

This is a lovely Marriott property right on the ocean. You can sit on the beach under a Palapa and have food delivered to your chaise. The pool has a large hot tub and swim up bar. You can eat in the hotel restaurants or catch a local bus for 8.5 pesos per person or walk to shopping malls (1.5 mile).
This property is connected to the JW Marriott and you can stay at either hotel and use the facilities of both. We absolutely love the Casa Magna Marriott.

Room Tip: we avoid the Garden view rooms since they are on lower floors and people walk around by the windows.
