Here’s what we liked about Live Aqua:
1. It was clean and well-maintained.
2. The staff was courteous and accommodating and provided excellent service. About a month before we arrived, I contacted the concierge about some questions. In my email I indicated that we were coming to celebrate my wife’s 40th birthday. On our first night, the resort sent up a bottle of Champagne and a special birthday cake. That was a very nice gesture and great touch!
3. Siete is a very good restaurant for breakfast. We ate something different every day.
4. L’aarkesh is an excellent restaurant. For us, it had the best food of all the restaurants.
5. The beach accommodations were great. We had no problems getting chairs for our group of 4 couples to sit together.

Here’s what we felt Live Aqua needs to improve upon:
1. Having rooms ready for check in at 3:00 pm – We arrived at 1:30 pm and checked in. We were told our rooms would not be ready until 3:00 pm. No problem; we ate lunch at Siete and walked around the resort to get familiar with it. At 3:00 pm we came back to get a room but we were told it wasn’t ready yet. One couple did get their room at that time so we went to their room to change clothes. At 3:30 pm, we checked on our room but were told it still wasn’t ready. After we complained, they assigned us a room. The rooms should be ready at check-in time. This was the most disappointing part of our trip.
2. Aromatherapy in the lobby – Other travelers have complained about the aromatherapy in the lobby. It was overpowering at times. Fortunately, we only ventured to the lobby at check-in and at check-out. Other than the lobby, I did not notice an overwhelming aroma in other parts of the resort/hotel.
3. Drink availability – The resort advertises top-shelf liquor. That is misleading. They have top-shelf liquor but not enough. We found that the Azur bar, the AKA bar, the Egos bar, and the “swing” bar near the beach all ran out of Tangeray at different times. Except for Jose at the “swing” bar on our first day, the bartenders made no attempt to get another bottle. They only offered lower quality liquor. It became a running joke in our group that we would get a couple drinks with Tangeray and then the bar would run out. At one point, at the AKA bar, the bartender told us they sent their only partial bottle of Tangeray to the Egos bar. It amazed me that the bartenders resorted to sharing the same bottle in such a high quality resort.
4. Drink quality – I understand that bartenders are going to have some variability in the way they make drinks. However, when we asked for a lime daiquiri with Captain Morgan, the bartenders did not know what to do. They even questioned us on whether we really wanted rum in a daiquiri. A daiquiri is a rum drink. They need to learn to make the basic drinks.
5. Beer – The resort only offered Dos Equis. I knew that going in because other travelers on TripAdvisor.com had already stated that. However, the beer is draft and, especially at the outdoor bars, it is warm. I don’t like warm beer. I drank it the first day, got a headache that night, and avoided it for the rest of my stay. My attempt at getting lime daiquiris was not that good, either. See above.
6. MB – The MB restaurant was not impressive. We loved the L’aarkesh and Siete and the Azur was okay but among the 4 couples we traveled with, we universally did not like the MB. Maybe we were just too redneck to appreciate the food but we didn’t like it.
7. Azur menus and service – We were not offered menus at Azur until we asked several times. Also, we asked for bottled water 2-3 times before the server got it for us. This was the only experience we had with poor service during our stay.
8. Seating for 8 – At the restaurants (except for Siete on our first day), they did not try to accommodate our party of 8 (4 couples). We were disappointed that except for L’aarkesh on our last night, that we had to sit at separate tables in for lunch and dinner. Again, this was not a big problem considering our large group; it was an inconvenience.

Overall, all 4 couples had a great time at Live Aqua. We would recommend it.

Seven nights in paradise! The beach wedding was unforgettable - family, friends and fun, fun, fun. The hotel and staff could not have been better. Service beyond service - we didn't leave the hotel - no need to. Food was excellent - best grilled steaks ever. Pools were great and never had an empty hand due to the staff that was willing to get anything for us food or drinks. Would recommend this all inclusive to one and all! Gracias!

Room Tip: We had an ocean front room but would have been just as happy with ocean view -

We just returned from the live aqua and are already making our return trip plans. We have traveled to Mexico one to two times a year for ten years and have never had service, food, and cleanliness like we had at the live aqua. The toughest decision was were to eat each night because the door is the absolute best and the selection feels like to never ends. The pools are clean and the perfect temperature. The atmosphere is like you are at a spa all day long with the staff catering to your every need. The beds are incredibly soft and I have never slept better in Mexico. I will definitely return. We were there with ten friends and they all agree this was the best resort in Mexico.

I have stayed at this property 6 times now and continue to return because of the gorgeous views, high quality food, service and beverages (as good as pre-all inclusive--better on the service), comfortable rooms and classy service attendants.

On our most recent visit (February 2012), we had exceptional courteous service from Iker Zozaya in the Club Lounge who took the time to talk with us and offer very attentive service.

As an all adult, all inclusive, it is a relaxing but fun hotel to spend a week (or longer if an option!)

Room Tip: Ask for a 5th floor suite for easy club access.

Stayed here for 5 days in february. Went to relax and relaxed a lot! Very nice staff and beautiful hotel. Room was clean and came with a complimentary beach bag, flip flops, big robes and scented oil to burn in the room. Pools were very nice and not overly crowded. Drinks were good, but watered down. Service was great everywhere and not pushy. Food was ok....best food we had was at cevicheria. Wish there was some type of entertainment. Mall across the street was nice to walk around....overall very nice and would stay again!

We just got home last night from a very relaxing 6 night stay at Live Aqua. The reviews that we read were dead on. We have stayed twice at Aventura Spa, twice at Secrets Capri, once at Royal Hideaway and several times at resorts that were family oriented. We don't believe there is one perfect place. The smaller adults only resorts in the Mayan Riviera cannot really compare to a Cancun resort. So, here are our pros and cons.
Cons: The lobby is rather stark and for whatever reason, we received a rather cool welcoming. There was no hand massage or any type of warmth in our greeting. We arrived at 1pm and our Tierra suite was not ready, which we understood.
We were told to come back up at 3 to check in, but the people in our suite were still there. This seemed odd to us, since it has never happened before. However, we were assured that by 4:30 our room would be ready and to make up for any inconvenience, they upgraded our room to an Aqua suite for the last half of our stay.
Another "con" would be the total lack of entertainment. We have been to various parts of Mexico on 9 different occasions and always had entertainment in the evenings. Because we read TA reviews, we were not diappointed, but think they should employ some of their very talented people for entertainment.
We also thought there was premium liqour here. This was not the case. We were able to get Bombay gin twice during our whole trip. We asked for frangelica for an after dinner drink and that was not available. No one seemed to know how to make a good mojito (that was a strange "first"). But as others have said, the bartenders were so friendly and always trying to please!
Pros: The food IS amazing. Before we go back, we will check TA to see if the quality and choices remain as great as they were on our visit. Every restaurant was awesome and we are total foodies. We ate 2 breakfasts (room service and later on at Siete) and 2 lunches (cerviche restaurant...ask for Luis! and right after, we'd try something new at Azur). Every dinner we had was amazing. Considering all the resorts we have been to, this was our favorite for their food and our main reason to return.
In booking the suite, we were given a daily foot massage. We called it, "total hedonism". We were laying in our cabana and having our feet and legs rubbed while sipping on something yummy and overlooking both the pools and the ocean. Tell me, how does life get better? We had several women massage us but a big shout out to Leidy who had such small but magical hands!
The pools are breath taking. This is not a big resort. However, the way in which they orchestrated the many pools made us feel that it never was of full capacity. There was no towel game and there were several options for whatever mood we were in poolside. What also struck us as unusual, was a very separate, yet integrated pool with a swim up bar. This was the loudest pool but because it was at one end it did not interfere with the tranquility of the other pools.
Shout out to Alexjandro for arranging our cabanas and foot massages and anything else we wanted :)
Tierra suite: 2 rooms with 2 terraces and 2 full bathrooms. King bed and oceanfront...spacious and modern and oh my gosh...the best bed we ever slept in when away from home! It was really nice having so much closet space and separate bathrooms and the view was the best ocean front view ever!
Aqua suite: Heaven! Not necessary at all, but extraordinary. The outdoor terraces were huge and the whole suite was just made for romance. The jacuzzi tub with a glass of champagne was the best part!
All of the suites allow access to the Aqua club. The people here spoiled us every time we entered. There is premium liquor here and such goumet fare to munch on morning and night. We met a couple from Albany New York on our second day who ended up making our trip even more memorable...big hugs to Tracy and Dan! And Michael, though you just started working here, you are the best!!!
Just to mention a couple things we had not read about: this seemed to be a great place for pregnant women. Truly, we have never seen so many pregnant women at a resort and they all looked so happy! Maybe this was due to their awesome spa. I had a swedish massage with Letica which was the best massage I've ever had. Another wonderful first, was the padded beach chairs. We have had those poolside at a few places but these padded beach chairs were a first for us.
What was also different is that the music by the pools was not that pounding dance music that we've been subjected to in the best of places. The music throughout the resort was always rather backround music to the sounds of the ocean or laughter or easy to hear, conversation.
We liked the aroma therapy throughout, the guitar player at Azur for italian night and how amazingly clean they keep this resort.
Beach: Perfect. Soft white sand, and clear aqua water with fun waves to play in.
If this resort keeps the quality and choices of their food high and their all inclusive price so reasonable, we will return!

Room Tip: All oceanfront rooms looked beautiful!
