“Budget hotel at budget price”
Reviewed 21 March 2012

Visited February 2012 for one week and first impression was very pleasant. The lobby is very modern and clean.
Be warned - they will try to lure you in to timeshare or some kind of con after you have checked in.......

We had a room for 3 people (Ocean View) with 2 double beds. This first impression sadly wasn't great. The room had a damp smell and was very dated. The bathroom/wash basin area was too small to accommodate the 3 females in the room. We requested a cot but we never received it.
However, undeterred, we didn't make a big fuss and focused on enjoying our holiday - you don't stay in your room much anyway, do you?

Thankfully the rest of the hotel was fabulous. The food was great, the waiting staff were fantastic and the beach/pools were well maintained and clean!

A couple of other downsides were that there was a lack of entertainment and the lobby staff were mediocre at best.
If I was going to Cancun with friends again, I would go there but I didn't think it was suitable for a family or couples holiday.

Room Tip: Ocean View rooms do not have balconies

We wanted a week in the sun and found a good deal with the Oasis Palm Beach - unfortunately no-one told us it is the America student spring break so when we arrived we were greeted by hoardes of extremely drunk students..We were able to move next door to the Oasis Grand which is a bit more upmarket inasmuch there are no pool activities or hamburger bars. The bedrooms at the Grand are large and far better appointed than the Palm but wherever you are you cannot get away from the disco at night which stopped at 1.00 am but the partying carried on until 5.00 am. I would go back back to the Grand but not in Feb/March. The food was excellent and the staff very helpful

Room Tip: As far away from the disco as possible - possibly on the lagoon side

Many of the reviews of this property are bad or very bad. Truth is that this is a good value for your money. It is not a 5 star and doesn't claim to be. If you are looking for a 5 star, with everything, don't stay here.

Rooms -- good, ac worked great, great views available, clean, big enough, no chairs or table in our room (we had a balcony though), tv only got a few English stations. Lots of hot water, safe in room for $5 per day.

Food -- excellent. lots of choice. Fresh fruit/bread/veggies every day. Juice and pop at every meal. The seafood restaurant was great. Omlette bar at breakfast. Wood fired pizza oven at one restaurant. Service was good, very friendly, Hamburgers and hotdogs and Tacos available 11-11 at the beach.

Drinks -- probably a little watered down, but good none-the-less. Lots of options and very short waits at the bars

Service -- excellent everywhere. had a bit of a run-around to get beach towels, but that was cleared up quickly.

Gems -- there is a cappucino machine at the lower level bar in the main building, the piano bar at the oasis grand next door is a nice place to unwind at night, there were activities all day and a few shows at night. We didn't take kids, but the kids club looked awesome. You could almost always see someone cleaning

Hints -- get a beach / pool chair early (by 7:30 for sure you will still have choices); lots of young spring breakers will come in around 3 am, turn up your ac fan to keep the noise out; there are smokers around the main doors, look for some of the alternate entrances / exits; a little extra cash and a wink at check in will get you an upgraded room; line up early in the lobby to make reservations at the restaurants; gym is open 8 - 8 and is not too busy around 6 pm.

Room Tip: balconies are great. keep your door locked because we had some "guest" that came down fro...

My husband and I stayed at the Oasis Palm in Cancun, via Sunwing Vacations, for five nights the first week in March. It is located on the north end of the hotel zone. We arrived late in the afternoon. Check-in was a breeze and our questions were promptly answered by various, very friendly and helpful, front desk staff. Once our luggage was delivered to our room, a mickey of agave was delivered at the door. The few problems that arose during our stay were quickly attended to and resolved.

The room was a Pyramid room, very plain and basic. There was no balcony, fridge, or an ice bucket to chill wine with. The plus side was that the room was very clean, and that we had requested a room on a higher floor. Our room was on the 8th (top) floor with a lovely view of the lagoon from our window to enjoy. There were only two bath towels, but every morning after our arrival I would leave a note in Spanish to please leave four bath towels, along with a tip that ensured plenty of bath towels. There were also two beach towels in our room. We were unexpectedly treated twice in the afternoons with a plate holding a chocolate dipped strawberry each delivered to our room, and another afternoon with a delivery of a small plate of fruit...a very nice touch.

The restaurant staff, whether at the two buffet restaurants, or at the Japanese or Seafood restaurants, provided great friendly service. The food was fairly decent. We did not have one negative experience with restaurant/bar staff and we regularly tipped in appreciation. Even while sitting at the outdoor terrace area of the Cantina bar we experienced great service. The only drawback was the smokers. None of the terrace tables had ashtrays. This should clue people in to not smoke there, but smoke they did. They would either butt their ashes in their beverage glasses/cups or plates, or on the ground. Poor etiquette to say the least.

The beach area didn't have a large depth of sand, but as long as I had a palapa to sit under I was very content. It did not spoil our enjoyement of the ocean view and Isla Mujeres across the ocean. We did a beach walk every morning. My husband and I were commenting on the very mature behaviour of most of the hotel guests in the beach and pool area. A nice refreshing change to have so many people nearby, with some of them drinking, but not acting like drunk and abrasively loud party animals that we frequently hear by the pool/beach areas while enjoying all-inclusive vacations at the various resorts we have been to.

The ferry to Isla Mujeres is within walking distance from the hotel. It was a short drive to the Plaza las Americas and La Isla shopping centres. There are many restaurants along the hotel zone and in Cancun. We didn't feel the need to dine out.

Check-out was also a breeze. I have to amit that we were a wee bit apprehensive prior to arriving as the average star rating of the hotel isn't very high; and, even though prior to our booking/arrival we had see positive reviews, we had also seen many negative ones. The value for the price we paid was excellent and the service equaling/exceeding our stays at higher rated resorts. A positive frame of mind and realistic expectations also helps. We would definitely go back for another stay should the opportunity arise again.

Because of a sore knee, my sister and I appreciated that this hotel wasn't spread out. There was one guest in a wheelchair, so we presume it is handicap accessible.

High density. One of us went down to the pool area every morning around 8 a.m. to "tie down our piece of paradise" with our personal towels and to make dinner reservations in one of two 'a la carte' restaurants. After breakfast in one of the two buffet restaurants, we brought our Mexican blankets down to soften the unpadded plastic chaise longues. We recommend bringing a covered plastic tall patio cup from home to cut down on having to stand in the occasionally long line-ups at the bar at the height of the day.

The food is very good. The stage shows are well worth your time. The staff friendly and professional. The property is clean. It was noisy though -- not just spring break party hearty guests but the pyramid design that echoes the sound and walls between rooms not sound-proofed.

We went over to Isla Majeures (dock right next door) and really enjoyed getting away for a day. Ferry $17 US. The bus right in front, change made by the driver, takes you to the Centro; across the street in the other direction, to the flea market area. And I gather lots of things to do and day trips if you want to spend the money.

No safety worries in this hotel or about Mexico if you keep your wits about you. Just go!!

Room Tip: We would have preferred a main floor room to avoid elevator waits

My husband and I stayed at this resort. The Ocean front view room was wonderful! It had a great scenery of the beach and the ocean.Although the room itself could use a little bit of an upgrade, overall it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The food was fantastic and the staff are all very friendly and helpfull. For the price we paid for this all inclusive resort was well worth it and we can't complain. Sarape buffet was great! The fish they served tasted so good and normaly I don't eat fish but this place had me going back for seconds. If you are travelling with children, I highly suggest staying at this resort. It has to two HUGE swimming pools, food carts are scattered throught out the beach (in front of the resort), food and drinks are fantastic, staff are very polite and helpfull. If we come back to cancun we are definitely coming back to this resort with our children :)

Room Tip: Ocean view front room if your more of the scenary type
