We ate here with another couple, who are vegetarians. The owner helped us select dishes, so we had some vegetarian ones and some meat ones. It was all very good. The portion are huge, so we had food to take home at the end. I'd recommend it highly if you are ready to try Indian food.

If you are like us and looking for an authentic, inexpensive, and delicious place to eat not too far from the hustle and bustle of the city center, look no further than La Casita del Indio! After touring the entire island on our little rented scooter, we were hungry! We walked around looking for a place to eat and stumbled upon this local and family owned spot. There was a family eating tacos who shared they had been coming to Cozumel for years and always made it a point to eat at La Casita. While they didn't sell beer, per recommendation from the same family, we walked two blocks to the OXXO, bought some cerveza and enjoyed it over delicious chicken, pork, and fish tacos. We also got guacamole which was fresh made (we saw someone run out to buy more avocados to make it). There were four of us and we had 15 tacos with a side of guacamole and chips, all for M$258 (less than $14 USD). I am uncertain the level of comfort with English of the family, there was no official menu and the specials were written on an erasable board, and I was able to order for our group because I spoke Spanish. If we ever come back to Cozumel, we will certainly find this place again!
Please note: The location is incorrect on TripAdvisor, it has moved and now off Salas and Avenida 15 Norte.

We decided to try this restaurant after reading various TripAdvisor reviews, and we were not disappointed! (Please note, the restaurant is now located at 240A Calle Dr Adolfo Rosado Salas, between 10a and 15a Avenida Sur.)

On our first visit, we had the comida del dia ("meal of the day"), chicken with a chipotle cream sauce, black beans and a side salad for 70 pesos (approx. $3.70 U.S.!). The meal was a great value, and we spoke to Indio and he told us about a seafood platter he has nicknamed the "Iowa platter," so we agreed to return the next night for that, and we were very happy with that meal also - a lobster tail, fish prepared two ways, coconut shrimp and bacon-wrapped shrimp.

Everything we had at Indio's was delicious (this was the only restaurant on Cozumel we visited TWICE for dinner), and we will definitely be seeing Indio and his family again soon!

Located at 240A Calle Dr Adolfo Rosado Salas, San Miguel de Cozumel. On a walk/scooter street. If you are looking for some authentic Mexican food at resonable price, this tiny place is the place to go. Maybe enough room for 12-18, but the proprietor and the food was super, super excellent. Being from Wisconsin, we had to give him a hard time of the U of Iowa flag hangind out front, all in good fun. But, oh my god, the food was great!!!!

This small restaurant has a great family feeling with perfect genuine Mexican food. We found this place on accident and then proceeded to eat here 3 times in 2 days. On our 3rd visit we brought some friends with a total of 15ish people and they easily accommodated us. They specially cook food for us for that occasion. Best place in Cozumel bar none.
