We spent 10 days in Isla Mujeres with our two kids (5 and 2) and had a wonderful time. The property is very safe and clean. The location is perfect, situated between Playa Norte and the downtown/tourist area with lots of shops and restaurants. The bedrooms are very spacious (though maybe that's because we live in San Francisco). There was a decent sized kitchen, fully stocked with a coffee maker, toaster, blender, dishes and cooking items. The staff was friendly, but Ernesto and the life guard on duty were exceptional. They both totally kept an eye on our kids and went out of their way to be helpful and personable. We had many amazing meals - Mango Cafe, North Garden, Lola Valentina, Rooster's, and Olivia's are highly recommended. Cha cha cha was also a nice venue with good wine and food and live music starting at 7:30 p.m.

Only a couple of cons to the stay (and not really a big deal for us): we were initially told that someone would meet us at the ferry and that we could request (for a fee) that our refrigerator would be stocked if we provided a list ahead of time. Neither of those turned out to be true, so just be aware that you need to find your own way to Ixchel from the ferry. We were a little inconvenienced about the food part, as I definitely would have stopped in Cancun to at least pick up milk for my little ones for the morning (we got in fairly late so we weren't able to get anything that night). Also, the restaurant/bar at Ixchel doesn't accept credit cards, so you have to have cash for everything.

Other than those minor inconveniences, the trip was amazing. The beach and pool were definitely the highlights!

The location on a beautiful beach with easy walking to many other restaurants and shops is the absolute best for variety and relaxation. The staff has become our Isla family. With all the folks going thru there they remember us and are so happy to see us. The wait staff Eloy,David,Angel and especially Alejandra take very good care of us. Ernesto with towels was so friendly and Laura so helpful at the front desk. We have gone with another couple, just by ourselves and with children and grandkids been great for all. Probably not so much for teenagers wanting a party time. This is laid back relax on the beach place.

4th trip back to ixchel, wonderful as always. For some reason this year the partying was a little extreme until 3-4 in the morning. The staff was unsuccessful in containing the guests responsible. The restaurant and staff are excellent as always especially Alejandra. The beach service was equally as good with Eloy and Angel making sure everyone had what they needed and had great conversation as well.

This was our fourth stay at Ixchel. We love the location, staff and rooms. The beach front units have great views and are large a roomy. Great service right on the beach and so many super restaurants nearby all within walking distance. I almost did not want to write a review because I am afraid of the hotel getting too popular. Staff have always treated us very well. Just a word on "saving" beach chairs. It a problem at so many resorts. Guests go down early and save all the "front row" beach chairs then go back up to their units or go for breakfast and come down when they feel like it. The hotel rules say you cannot save chairs and leave. The staff have had the courage to back up the rules with actions and remove items used to save chairs, I support and applaud the staff for taking this action. Its benefits all guests when rules are applied.

Cannot day enough good things about this hotel. The location is a 15 minute walk from the ferry, and 2 minute walk from the main strip with all the restaurants, bars and shops. You can also rent gold carts right outside the hotel door. Staff are all very friendly and helpful. Beach service was an awesome plus as well! Can’t remember what room we were in but had the most amazing view!! Would stay here again on our next trip!!
